A very impressive video - it has two very important karateka: Nao Morooka and Tetsuya Naka. Both are Japanese champions. Naka in kumite and Morooka in kata. Thanks for posting!

  • All of them are world champions..Japanese are the best highly skills in karate although sometimes they lose but they still the best

  • yo me entreno solo y perfecciono mis tecnicas

  • good

  • very useful

  • wow! just like the way our senseis teach us.. ^^

  • NAKA was also in the movie Kuro-Obi (BlackBelt). He was absolutely incredible. When I first saw the movie, I new nothing of NAKA. Then when I saw the behind the scenes, the writers and director didn't want an ACTOR to play a KARATEKA, they chose a real KARATEKA to do the role!!! The moment I saw his techniques and his foundation, I knew right away that he has been practicing since he was a child. A real martial artist!!

  • that one guy looks like Ruy Narushima but Narushima trains kyokushin.

  • very good...

  • this is an interesting video: we've got Naka sensei, who JKA, and Morooka Nao senshuu, who is not JKA-maybe Wado-kai or Shito-kai, i can't remember. is this an open or mixed style dojo? or maybe Morooka does both styles?

  • It's JKF video, not shotokan video. Tsuyama sensei was a technical chief of JKF.

  • interesting. do you know why Naka sensei is in the video?

  • Naka was a student of Tsuyama when he was in Takushoku university karate club.

  • I am torn between Kara-te and TKD. I think I would be better off with Kara-te as it is more self defense orientated.

  • I think you should none off them and start playing chess instead...

  • Why do they aim for a point somewhere between jodan and chudan? Unless there is some special reason, that is an obvious error that someone should correct.

  • The idea we teach in my Association is that you have an opponent / partner in front of you who is EXACTLY the same height as you.

For Jodan, you punch to the chin, and for Chudan, you punch to the Solar Plexus. For Gedan, you punch to groin height.

  • Same teaching here. However, if you look at for example 0:36 you see a fist to the hearth and not to neither solar plexus nor chin.

It could be the angle of the camera though

  • Location is not set in stone. Jodan is generally the face, not necessarily directly at the nose, and chuu-dan is generally the upper body (though 'optimally' it would be at the solar-plexus/lower rib cage).

Camera angles do play tricks though.

  • As mentioned in another reply about your opponent being the same height as you, when standing straight up (hei-ko dachi stance), jo-dan and chuu-dan are where you would expect. However, notice as they lunge forward into a longer, forward stance (zen-kutsu dachi), the body's height is lower compared to a standing opponent. You must punch higher for chuu-dan from your position to make contact with your opponents upper abdomen (solar-plexus).

This video is pretty awesome. Some serious rock stars.

  • Karate-do is a wonderfoul!!!!!

  • OMG....IS EVRYONE A FREAK HERE OR WHAT?!?!? ths isn't normal....traduccion....dioss ke os pasa a todos? en serio veis esto y disfrutais?

  • Sensei Tsuyama Katsunori!!!

  • they each have good width, lenght, and pull.

  • this is Sensei Suyama of JKA ,he used to come to late Enoeda Sensei's Crystal palace courses ,not so sure why they punch after they finish their stance.

  • Yeah, good training video, real old school JKA, I like it and would recommend that student practice this way.

  • muy muy bueno para entrenar basico

  • Domo arigato! I enjoyed watching.

  • Very good work!

  • yea.. this sensei looks like real master

  • Which Sensei is this?

  • What is the name of thise video
