if only there was a nes with dvd capabilities 20 years ago! i forgot a detail... when i was a kid dvd didn't existed yet! there were f***king VHS, man, i hated those things
what about this is instead make it so it can play NES and DVD's than I won't have to switch from my NES to DVD player it would be a a super tight fit but I bet someone can do it.
wow.....lol. I got mine for like $15 in pretty good condition. Although now they can go for like $50 in working condition....just got to find the right deal on Ebay.
Ya, for some reason I decided to switch it around in my hand like a pencil, and burnt the top of my finger between my nail and joint. Lol fun times.....luckly it was the side of the iron...not the tip.
Holy crap that cool!! When you finish this you should write Nintendo Power magazine. They have a section of the magazine were they show cool mods like this from people and interview them.
Actually no, the dvd tray does not push it up far enough to lock in place, so its natural weight along with the clips that hold the door in place closes by itself
Not really, most sites or peoples web pages may have instructions but most of them are just showing what they did and the progression of the project. You could browse for some mod sites and ask some questions. Not a lot of re-wiring to do, just mainly a lot of dremel tool usage and mods to the case to fit it inside. No mods to original parts really.
that's a cool projet you got. Well hope it can get better. Also I have the same DVD player that you used in the NES dvd player. well, hope you continue it and like you said, to sell it in ebay. :)
great job but there,s a way to watch dvd's on a nes without modding the console.
the nes expension port does have a audio & video pin input,so you could create a addon with the dvd chipsets inside and then rotine it,s a/v signal through the nes expansion port,so actualy the nes is future proof!!!!!!
Oh man, that's hilarious! Awesome DVD player. I'll bet that turns a few heads from people who want to play some NES in your house. You should kid with them at first and tell them it's the rare CD-playing NES from Hong Kong or something. Hahahaha.
question: if it has a usb port in it, could you put in a flash drive that had NES roms downloaded on it could you play them and would the controller port still work to play said games?
Oh, naw dude. The only thing that is still Nintendo about it is just the shell, pretty much only can play DVDs and video files from a USB flash or hard drive device. Controller ports don't even do anything at the moment. Would be awesome seriously, that sounds like a nice idea you got there!
I should do that, only for Im gonna put the display into the lid where the disc tray will come out. I'll de-solder the IR module and place it where the controller's will get connected.
Rofl, you just like read my mind. I pretty much had that idea with the display, but could never think it out or pull it off in my head. Also, i do plan on mounting the IR sensor in the controller ports like some of the DVD mods i've seen here on youtube.
Lol, Even if his NES diden't work, he could atleast put a printer in it.
My Gamescube mod that i'm going to submit is a pun because I modified a turkey Gamescube (Meaning the fan diden't work) & fixed the fan & then put a huge bulkey vent on the side of it because it was delicate. The side of it is so big it dosen't fit in my GC bag, but luckely I already got 2 more.
You know I was planning on making more with another DVD player i found at work that may be adequate for a NES shell. Only diff is no USB. Possibly sell them on Ebay, but sorry, not selling my prototype(original).
looks good. im doing this mod also but im not using the same dvd player so i dont have to worry about the led and the display screen. one more thing, it gets really annoying when you zoom in and out because of the sound your camera makes. besides that good video.
Ya, lol, not my camera, but i can say this it provides a better picture quality than my webcam. Not to mention the mic is right around the lens so you'll here the small noises the lens motor control makes. Probably should of dubed music to the video so ya'll wouldn't have to hear the grinding.
Hmm, I have a small DVD player and an NES that doesn't work no matter what I do to fix it... On goes the light bulb above my head!
