The dog seems incapable of a quick kill. Takes about a minute which is too long. Jack Russell would do it in seconds, and at much less risk of getting bitten itself.

Your dogs gonna get bitten badly. I have a terrier 6mths old and he can kill rats first bite. He picks it up and throws it. He got bitten a few times when he fisrt started ratting two mths back . If your terriers old then give it up if it's still young then theirs hope. Rats can really make a mess of a dog if they get bitten badly could lose it's eyesight if bitten in eye.

Sure it is. What if the dog caught the rat inside the owner's house and killed it. That would be nature. Both this and that are natural. At least the rat had a chance to escape and fight for it's right to survive.
The rat had no chance of escaping. The dog was let loose as soon as the rat was let out so it had hardly any time to react. The dog knew its surroundings however an open field is not a rats typical habitat. If the dog happened to find a rat in its normal habitat and killed it that would be perfectly natural because the rat knows where it is and it would have seen the dog a lot sooner than it did in this video. If you have a problem with rats kill them humanely. I use an air rifle to do this.
I enjoyed watching it. Wait until they get into your home and destroy your shit. You can call an exterminator who will put poison out (more cruel, right) or traps that don't always kill right away. I personally prefer a rifle for quicker kills, but everything dies in the end, right?

My Jack Russell never takes more than 5 seconds and my Westie- Wire Fox cross was the same.

Where did you catch your rat? I want to train my JRT and have a ratcage but don't just want to leave it in a field to get stolen.

well you'll cath fuck all in the middle of a field anyway. put it against a wall, behind boards between bales or in a woodpile in a yard somewhere, bait it and cover it. good luck

omg u guys dont know what ur talkin about. that video ia absolutly fine and that is how u train them to kill rats. the things get in ur house, kill ur chicks, eat all the foods and make a mess of everything. good dog! keep on ratting :)

If you have an infant in the house they will attack it. Rats are dangerous, there are reports of rats in India and China attacking the elderly and infants in their sleep. Good vid. I have a JRT she is only 3 months, can't wait to train her.

if ure gunna do this do it in the rats nature habbitat i have a lurcher and two jack russells and i work them all on rabbits and rats but i do not do that i have tried it but there is a lot more exitment in its natural habbitat, and that dog takes its time to kill the rat dosent it lol but still it gets the job done lol

Sure it is. What if the dog caught the rat inside the owner's house and killed it. That would be nature. Both this and that are natural. At least the rat had a chance to escape and fight for it's right to survive.

The rat had no chance of escaping. The dog was let loose as soon as the rat was let out so it had hardly any time to react. The dog knew its surroundings however an open field is not a rats typical habitat. If the dog happened to find a rat in its normal habitat and killed it that would be perfectly natural because the rat knows where it is and it would have seen the dog a lot sooner than it did in this video. If you have a problem with rats kill them humanely. I use an air rifle to do this.

I enjoyed watching it. Wait until they get into your home and destroy your shit. You can call an exterminator who will put poison out (more cruel, right) or traps that don't always kill right away. I personally prefer a rifle for quicker kills, but everything dies in the end, right?
