In the original music, yes - it's really easy to play it in 4 by accident. Try counting 8 over the top of the first minute and 8 seconds. I did check!

0:00-1:08 is in 4/4 (the syncopation here isn't triplets) 1:09-1:48 is in 7/8 1:49-2:02 is in 4/4 (ragtime-style LH in piano) 2:03-2:15 is in 7/8 2:16-2:35 is in 6/8 (bar = bar from previous tempo) 2:36-2:55 is in 12/8 (bar = bar) 2:56-3:01 is in 6/8 4:26-5:04 is in 5/8 5:04-5:42 is in 12/8 5:42-end is in 7/8 I'm assuming it's been written in 12/8 where the main division is triplets - this is by no means chapter and verse - just my best guess. I wouldnt be too hard on Dec here though. the buzzing strings sound is unavoidable from a piezo equipped guitar that is factory set-up with really low action. My JP6 strings buzz when unamplified. But through an over-driven amp you cant hear it. Not even with a clean sound. but as a piezo picks up body resonance you're bound to hear it.

the musicianship; the execution; the composition all speak for themselves - very compelling viewing but the thing i have a problem with is the modern fascination with guitars that sonically have a kazoo type quality about them.

It's hardly a fascination. It's a guitar equiped with a piezo system that does a pretty good job at giving an "on the fly" acoustic sound from an electric guitar. It's not wholly as pleasing I suppose as hearing a genuine acoustic, but does the job......particularly in a live setting. Means not having to switch between guitars. And the MusicMan JP6, shown here, is pretty much one of the best on the market with such a device installed at the mo.

i've been gigging for a while with a french artist. i play very warm acoustics. i have spent a fortune on mic/blend systems and a DI, yet ALL the front of house guys make my two late 60's guilds sound like fucking kazoos: i hate it! i hate them!

(im an old git and i believe i've witnessed a change in the perception of peoples hearing - and what acoustics should sound like - since the late 80's)

so my comment wasn't against you per se, it was a gripe with fucking kids and engineers who are too lazy to eq guitars properly: who think a guitar should sound like strings buzzing (like bottles rattling in the wind) rather than the sonorous, high crafted instruments they are; and a gripe with the electronics companies that have sold guitarists short when there are so many brilliant piano simulations available

finally of course i understand the convenience but i'm sure you would agree...

Oh yea. totally agree. I woulda been harder to play on an acoustic though but, yea, it would have sounded better. But it is jsut a mtter of convinience. And to my ears, modern piezo's sound better than most early ovations! On the other hand (!), one of my students has a beautiful koa backed taylor that he spent a fortune on and it sounds lovely....till I plugged it into to an AER amp. And then it jsut sounded like........a kazoooooo!!!! What ya gonna do?

It starts in 7 until about 2:17 where it goes into a triplet feel in 4/4 leading to a 6 feel at 3:09. 4:06 they set up a 3 against 2 feel that brings the 12 feel back. At about 4:26 it goes into 5/8. At 5:06 it goes back into 6 until 5:30 where it goes back into 7/8. So, maybe about a third of this piece is in 7 : )

I really like this so much more than the CD version. The music gets a chance to breathe instead of merging into that IMHO over-busy and over-compressed mush that is the CD track. Jem and Dec should just gig as a 2 piece.

Hehe, U dudes rokcs xD I'm musician, keyboard player from 17 years;) and I'm amazed by harmony and overall concept of this album. Everytime I listen Hyperventilate, I'm blowed off. Even if the genius of this album pass off as you listen to this album 123153 time;P it's still perfect - so far different from dark, sad albums like Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation etc...

Btw, is there chance for any sheet of Your music;)? Even midi will be good:) It's hard to play some parts without it xD
