Fans of the show should really look up the behind the scenes stories. The stories are interesting and really show how Hollywood and the suits just have such little imagination or wonder left in them.

His appetite was also from the Wally West era. Again, it was a mesh. IMO I like how they combined the best of the two characters. It worked for me. I think Barry was the stronger character. He has the better job and in the comic he was a fan boy. Wally is great too, but for me Barry is the original Flash (i didn't forget Garrick, but I like Barry) so I was happy he was used for the series. As far as villains- that was done best to what CBS allowed the creators to do.

If you look up behind the scenes info on the show -for those talking about Wally West's costume- the creator's preferred Barry Allen's character (as do i honestly) to Wally, but Tina and the costume came from the Wally era. It was a hybrid of elements from the Silver age and the Bronze. The TV show costume comic influence aside was designed by the late Dave Stevens (creator of the Rocketeer). From what I've read CBS didn't want a costume so they had DS redesign it to win them over.

@ottosantiago Actually, it's funny that you'd mention the old Superman because that's the first example in the book. It talks about how before he only had abilities associated with super strength, thus "faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." Back then he couldn't fly and he didn't have any vision related powers. Originally, Krypton was supposed to have had a much greater gravity than Earth.

I remember reading something about a black character who was given something similar to the Super Soldier Serum that Steve Rogers got. I think it may be Luke Cage. But that was in the 1970s some thirty plus years after Captain America's creation. I don't know of any other black characters who got the serum. I don't even know if Rogers was the first one to get it, but I'm sure he was the first and only Captain America.
