Great video! I just picked up the same variation Son of Garloo complete like yours. I don't have The Great Garloo yet but one of these days I hope to.
Unlike your family, most parents do not pick up their children and snap their back. You must have worn many back braces. Well, I finally put a stop to your trolling on my channel. Poof-you're gone!
Why did you waste an entire video on the wind up toy?! We want to see Garloo not a wind-up toy everyone knows about. As usual I wanted Garloo but my parebts (wisely or maybe to save money) got me Big Loo instead. Probably the most dangerous & wonderful toy a boy could have. I still miss Big Loo as he protected me (I thought) from real-life monsters in my house. At least he helped me outlive them. And that's all you can ask of any toy.
Did Marx film a TV commercial for Son of Garloo? Son of Garloo could have knocked Marx HO slot cars off the turnpike, like his dad knocked over Marx HO trains. That's funny Hening880FAA, that your folks put a Seagram's 7 shield on him to replace the medallion!
If I remember right, the Christmas that Santa brought Great Garloo, he also brought the Johnny Reb Cannon and the Blue and Gray Battle Set. My parents bought the last Great Garloo at the store and his name tag was missing. They put a Seagram's 7 shield around his neck instead and I never noticed. A couple of years later, I took Garloo apart to see how he worked, and couldn't figure how to put him back together. It was the most memorable toy of my childhood.
I had Garloo, got it from Santa when i was around 5 or 6... great memories of him destroying my platoons of army men... on the commercial, it says it sold for $17.95, that was a lot of money for Santa back then... Santa was always good to me , unfortunately I lost him this past February . I'll never forget him and this brought back a good memory.
@hess528 Im 28 and im a Toy maker and Toy collector, my mother was 13 when the great garloo came out, she got 50 cents a week for allowance back then. so it would have taken her 9 months to save up for the great garloo.. so yes santa was quite nice to you
Yes, that was a lot of money back in the early 60's. Your story was very touching and I'm glad this brought back some fond memories. Sorry it took so long to answer.
I remember Garloo when i was 2 years old...it was a present for my 2 older sisters ..so they would tees me with him...should i be scared or not scared
i finally got tired of that and when they were away from garloo ...i knocked off his head! I was so pissed off and sick of my sisters taunting me to fight garloo that i just KNOCKED HIS MOTHER FUCKING HEAD OFF ..POINT BLANK!!!!

Cool story. This vid was about the wind up. Did you see the other vid of the G.G. that I posted? It is strictly G.G. and no wind up.
