Everybody is complaining about MTV not playing as much music as they use to but do you realize that the very site we are on is culpable for the reason why? Everyone just goes online now for music. The producers at MTV now think that having shows like TRL are totally out of style since nobody buys cd's anymore. They said it themselves!
The advertising anthem. Imagine the royalties... All you need is one song, the willingness to license it out to everything and everyone, and you're set up for life.
@Moonlar1001 I think this song was on a TV commercial a few years ago...I want to say it was for Dairy Queen of all things--no joke!! lol. Moonlar, does that ring a bell for ya? ;)
I knew this song for years but its REMIX version! I heard its chorus on many places. At that time my opinion on the song was "nothing special but not bad"...
And then thanks to my friend I watched the Final Fantasy AMV with this song, and was like "WTH!!! I don't remember this song having such an awesome guitar riffs, bass sound, bright energetic mood and a great melody altogether!" so I though THIS was a remix,
Then I checked and realized that THIS IS THE ORIGINAL SONG! AND ITS AMAZING SONG!
@Supersweetguy Yeah, I mean its not that I dislike that version, but it isn't impressive too much for my ears...However when I heard this version, just like I wrote above, I thought this was some awesome rock remix of that song, while in reality THIS ONE is the original one.
Once I realized that I started listening to Republica, and despite the fact that I am not a big fan of some of their lyrics(nothing too bad, just not something I like too much), I enjoy their music A LOT!
Mmmmm Saffron!! :D Holy smokes was she fit (probly still is), I fancied her something stupid when they were about....I still go for women that look like and have the same energy and style as her! :D
@ Extrememdp-She used to dance for The Prodigy when they first started out.THAT'S why she has all that energy!!!
What year did this come out? Back then I became so annoyed by this song because I would listen to the radio at work and this song seemed to come on every 30 minutes every day! (Not as bad as Korn's ADIDAS! That used to annoy the fuck out of me because that shit was WAY overplayed! I can't stand Korn now anyway.) Anyway, I do like the song now and it never gets airplay anymore.
@DanielJoseDiego I sadly admit I liked them for a short time in December 1995 - early 1996 but it didn't take long for me to fuckin hate them. It just sounds like shit music and sounds shittier the older I get. lol Their most recent stuff still sounds like the stuff they played 12 years ago too. I can't stand Rage Against The Machine either for various reasons. Can't stand 99% of "Nu Metal" as well. Rage and Korn were a big influence on that genre or it sounds like they were a big influence.
As a predomonately "80's" fan. (showing my age) I REALLY love this song from the 90's. It's funny reading posts about how the 2000's music is crap. I think most modern music is garbage. It TRULY is an "age-thing". Feel good in knowing that this song will be a classic in info-commercials in years to come.
@MarkFaust Mainstream music, yes. but dont put all 2000 music in one catagory. There are lots of bands(mostly underground bands) that are really good, just that you've never heard of them. But it's not your fault, it's the media that throws shit like katy perry and justin bieber at your face, promoting their videos everywhere that it makes you think that that is the music of today. Indie bands are my favorite, look them up, you might change your mind abour 2000 music.
I love the old videos from the 90's and 80's...they were all each unique in concept and how they were shot. Now adays it's all the same ol bullshit. I swear I'm convinced that the music industry today has a large room with a large round table. They set up plans that if one song/"artist" takes off...then the rest of the pop artists follow suit in the sound of their song. Since one song got big, you can't lose if every other song sounds the same!
this song was originally written for the homosexual Elton John but he turned it down due to his hair transplant which made him look like an even bigger Homo ...nice catchy tune tho'...
(cont.)....its funny, in 2030-2040 they will ask us , what did you listen in 2010 ?
we would answer U2, The Stones, Nirvana Guns Coldplay .... practically the same old stuff that we did in the 90s, 80s, 70s.... they are creating a VOID in the music industry
Agree. Internet and Piracy killed the music , bands cant be groomed and developed
so Record co. just go for the easy buck 2 ways , cheesy-visual and teenie products or Sign pre-internet bands like U2 and the Stones for 4 massive worlwide tours. There are many Plants, Van halens and Slashs out there but they dont have the chance to grow.
i have a lot of time looking for a girlsband of the 90´s ...i dont know the name, just i remember one music video of them ...in a airport and those girls dresed like pilots, etc walking ...if someone have idea ...please tell me :)
It's not just that I'm thirty now: the nineties had the best stuff ever. Can't beat that -- it's like a regression occurred after that, and that was the pinnacle of music -- all the elements you needed were before that. This 2000's trash is a bunch of crap! Long live the 90's!!!
@Rittager Amen, bro.the 80 and 90's were the best, now its all about making covers of better songs, and just using some recylced rythms on a drum machine, show your butt and boobs a bit,and there you go
@Rittager You know, alot of people would argue the 90s were full of crap and that the 80s was the best decade. Either way, I think we all agree that the 2000s is crap and will go even further downhill.
@Rittager Its got nothing to do with being 30, im 26 and the 90s totally rocked. All the radio stations played Blur, Oasis, Radiohead, Nirvana, Supergrass, Cast, The Las, Stone Roses, The Charlatans, The Cardigans, Garbage, Ocean Colour Scene, Bluetones, The Verve, Dodgy, Reef, Pulp, Chemical Bros, Prodigy... Even classic one hit wonders from Eagle Eye Cherry You could go on and on... Such a good time growing up in school listening to all of this. Music is officially dead now, its pathetic!
@Rittager Have you read Jaron Lanier's book _You Are Not A Gadget_? He presents a reason why musical innovation stopped in the 90s, and that this isn't just a matter of taste, which you can prove with a test: Play a song since 2000 that someone hasn't heard and have them guess the decade -- they won't get it right.
@Rittager Yeah it was kinda like the 80's happened twice, the second time a bit more refined and sound friendly, often times with more meaning. Looking back I even miss that diabetes-sweet pop music.
@Rittager hear hear! Im so glad i am not young today, I look at young people today and think, What the fuck? They dont seem to be havin a good time at all.1989 and 1990 were brilliant years, i would love to go back, times were changin, things were happenin, the back end of the 90s got borin, and as soon as the year 2000 came things got really borin.
@Rittager - I grew up with the same music, and I feel the same way, but it's probably nothing more than nostalgia goggles. Every generation says this about its music. I'm sure you could find some octogenarians out there who are still lamenting how none of our music quite sounds like Cab Calloway.
@Rittager yeah man im 23, and grew up with the 90's stuff. At least they actually played instruments instead of everything being autotuned, and made with a computer.
@Rittager Mainstream music, yes. but dont put all 2000 music in one catagory.
@phirefox375 I'm very familiar with the alternative scene, both mainstream and "underground" since I work at a rock station. (Not hard to figure out which one. I don't wanna be flagged.) We get almost ALL the music, with the ARF, ARP, GB and the net giving us access to thousands of bands that you will never hear of. Believe me, the 90's were better. By a long shot. I dig The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Coral, Von Bondies, White Stripes, and a few others, but by and large, it's pretty barren these days.
@Rittager I agree with you for the most part, and now all the "indie" bands of todays are just blatantly ripping off the 80s and 90s, probably because they realize that you can't make anything better than that.
@Rittager hey man your right about the nineties. When i heard this song for the first time in years since then it really brought back memories and i love that feeling. Do you remember any songs of other female vocalists from the nineties? If you do you should message me back with some suggestions. And i already know the great Alanis Morissette. Doesn have to be female.. just anything! let me know.
@Disposition446 Here's one band suggestion: Letters to Cleo. Kay Hanley was/is an amazing singer. Their most popular song was "Here and Now" and when you check it out I'm pretty sure you'll recognize it.
@Disposition446 -- Garbage, vocalist Shirley Manson. Songs include "Queer," "Stupid Girl," "Paranoid," "Only Happy When It Rains," "Bleed Like Me," and James Bond movie theme "The World Is Not Enough."
Also the immortal "Joey" by Concrete Blonde, vocalist Johnette Napolitano.
Fuck YEEAAAHHH! I did everything to this song in the 90's, drank, danced, get into fights, you can do anything while listening to this song! Good times, good, good, times :(
I just love this woman and she still looks good 2011 video of her, she is still pretty ..

Indie bands are my favorite, look them up, you might change your mind abour 2000 music.

@Rittager I agree with you 100%!!!!

This song loops indefinitely in the station of the "Top Thrill Dragster" roller coaster at Cedar Point. Now I can't get it out of my head.
