  • God, I dont really even watch these for the lessons. I watch to hear this guy talk. Hes so entertaining.

  • I laughed a lot when one time, the lead guitarist struck a bad note and he just raged hard by stomping, it was funny.

  • Please gooood people(I guess thats me and you and you) Don't question the guitar I guess it is part of the costume.

  • @radomeihsi You fool!Guitar isn't "the part of the costume" it's part of you,of who you are, your soul,it's not like some toy you mess around with,if you break your guitar you break a part of you(only if you really love music (:)

  • @Misha98100 How come you can take a d$ck and you can't take a joke! Don't give some Disney-mighty duck miracle bullshit wishing upon a star kind of shit. Dude! it is a joke. Probably I've been holding a guitar longer than you've been alive. I make a living out of it. Chill out! or go get buried in a KISS casket or something.

  • I can tell talent when I see it. Great work!!!

  • Amen

  • @REDWINGSGUY77

yes, BUT line 6 have a system called the relay wireless system, I dont know much about wireless systems but the relay uses some kind digital technology that does not affect the sound but any other analog system will affect the sound

  • does a wireless make the sound quality of the playing worse?

  • this guys fucking sweet! he helped a lot

  • Awesome, helpful, and valid points Thank You.

  • Hey! I really like your video and I made my band practice its live performance based on some of the things you said. We played a preliminary round to a battle of the bands and we got through. Could you please watch our live video and tell me what are the things that we could improve on to make our performance better and hopefully win the final Round ? Here is the link: watch?v=UVrPlw449oU Thank You!

  • @rockongoodpeople can u giv me 10 rock songs that r good for a beinning band

  • hey man i am just getting started with a band, i play guitar and just started learning bass, whats the best way to find gigs?

  • @a13x1415 The best thing to do is to make contacts, ring up pubs and clubs and just staight out ask the manager if you could play there and how much they'll pay you. try too seem as professional as possible. another way is to get a contract with a gigging agency, but you have to be really really tight, polished and professional and it helps to have your own signature sound and talk to other bands who do gigs and go to there concerts and ask them how they get gigs and ask can you support them ect

  • @a13x1415 go talk to a owner of your local club.....

  • Dave

    I have a BIG question.

if your band is offered to open for someone as bloody rubbish as katy perry

    should you take it?

    thats my situation. :/

thanks for your time and all your great videos :D

  • @SPAPBrocker I say you do it,maybe you hate katy perry but if you want to become famous, you have to accept any chance you get!

  • @dogspoopcheese will do!

its on tomorrow kinda nervous :S

  • @SPAPBrocker Good luck then..And relax,if you're stressed it's gonna get worse ;)!

  • @SPAPBrocker Do it, no doubt. Can't do any harm to be seen doing a good show by a large audience, including music journalists. Just be aware that you might not like Katy Perry or whoever, but their band WILL be good, they'll be professionals, so don't assume they will be "bloody rubbish".

  • @SPAPBrocker Do it, and show them up! the same way Jimi hendrix did it to the Who!

  • try starting when your thirteen, not being able to find a singer, bassist, and all you have is three guitars, that was four years ago and i'm still struggling!

  • @karen9375 me to! We have a bass player drummer keybourd player and me the singer/guitarist we r pretty good.

  • I AM 11 YEARS OLD AND IM TRIYING TO MAKE A BAND

  • @karen9375 omg im 10 and trynig to make a band

  • wow..so accurate and informational! thanks!

  • this video makes me excited to rock the fuck out with the band!

  • Thumbs up if you skipped the beginning

  • that helped a lot but why did u hold the guitar?:Dit wasn't even plugged

  • @Kyyp3r to show off his awesome fender :)

  • Thanks! This video is really good ;)

  • No we still gotta create one we r gun start recording asap but for now we have other things to attend to

  • My last bands idea of practice was a couple of half ass rehearsal's, then go out and do the gig, and wonder why we had the train wrecks. And wondered why we never made any money. then they ditch me with a Email!!

  • @Guitarman777 awwww i'm sorry! that fucking sucks!!! my old band did almost the same thing to me. who ditches their singer! lil bitches... but i know what you mean when you say ur band practices crappy and then ditches you...

  • what if you don't have a website

  • @TheKdog2000 atleast make a facebook for your band

  • Haha, I'm the 19,919th viewer.

  • @cultofpersonality cheers m8

  • THE GOOD PEOPLE! :D

  • Thanks that helped a lot but just 1 question. Where do you get the notes from songs that already exist. I mean do u just get them by ear or do you get them from books. Because me and my mates are thinking of starting a band but we don't know where to start

  • @daCODglitcher try looking at sites on the internet. Ultimate guitar is one. they give you tablature of tons of songs.

  • @daCODglitcher good TABS for the songs you want, there there for guitar and bass, i think theres kinds for drums, but i dont know how to read them

  • Thank you DT!!! :) Awesome tips and pointers! And I LOL so hard at the "walking around with guitar..." !!! xD

  • Why did he have a guitar? Haha

  • you summed up just about every single bit of stage knowledge I've collected over the past three years. THANKS!

  • You happen to be notably cute, many thanks for your tutorial. it is actually sad i live in Ocala because i can't obtain very good makeup, though i receive cost-free cosmetics samples through "Gratis Makeup Samples". i really like Revlon make-up!

  • hey thanks for this video! my band has our first real show thats not at our school coming up in august and this has helped us a lot! thanks!

  • Great lesson. I have one question though. My band has an EP coming out and we are going to demon it at a local music festival. When we mix in the many covers we are also doing, how do we arrange it. We have 3 songs on the EP so far, and may have 4. We are going to play a 10 song set- about 45 minutes. Thanks, Austin.

  • hihi i am wiggyworld169 and i am 14 and this has helped my band alot we are called jurvinial x

  • What your email?

  • good advice thank you

  • im making a band and this helped alot

  • you are the best david, im gonna thank you when i win my first award xD

  • A lot of this advice is just common sense, but regardless this is beneficial to anyone as there are some things that we all tend to forget regularly, and other things that, I must admit, I didn't even think of. For example, the Clipboard and the mailing list, that's a great idea right there.

Every up and coming band should watch this video, because while most of it's common sense, it's still relevant and beneficial regardless.

  • hey dude this is good advice to anyone just starting out and i also think the vids on pa setup is pretty good too keep it up

  • this guy is awesome, no pauses and thinking, just pure incourigment and help thanks dude! :)

  • ok, whenever I watch videos from "Rockongoodpeople" I only watch the videos done by this guy. He is awesome.

  • why'd he have a guitar?

  • He's always got a guitar. It's part of him, man. Don't question the guitar

  • @Canadianspunge hahahahahaha!!!! thats awesome

  • this is the best video ever!

  • hahaha yeah i noticed that too

  • this guy rocks

  • i nearly have a band we just need a drummer i play bass and sing my friend plays guitar and anyone from ireland in dublin 22 in clondalkin please leave a comment and tell me what age you are cos im a young teenager so just tell mw thanks

  • gimme tips on how to actualy to get a band like the people and make people call you and show up to auditions

  • make flyers and put them up aronud school or your job or around shops like supermarkets and stuff

  • i have some friends that i play with but we never can just play something together. we always just play our own stuff and it never flows. pisses me off cuz we arent progressing as a band. i try to tell them without sounding like a dick but its hard. and i'm not trying to say that i'm the only one who comes up with good stuff, im just saying that if you want to be in a band you need to learn to not only play your instrument, but fuckin play together WITH your bandmates as well. any1 got any tips?

  • I suggest if you have something that your playing on your guitar that sounds cool, and you want them to be interested, to suggest to them to "hey, try doing a beat like this" while you are doing that. And to the bassist as well. Try to progress from there to suggest like verses and choruses, etc. Other than that I don't know really, maybe your friends are just dicks, heheh.

  • well sound to me like they're either not really interested or maybe it's just too early in their musical journey that they only focus on their playing...that's normal and will change, and probably if that's the case and you make it clear to them it won't upset them.....at least that's what happened with my friends

  • I got a tip for you: Plug in your guitar!?

  • god that was very helpful!!!

hey my band needs a singer please send me a comment or message!! We are from Mexico city!!!

  • This guy is a pro and makes some of the few best educational videos on here!

  • No one in my school gives a crap about music...so Im all on my own ....

  • dam that sucks, what school is that?

  • A grammar school in England (I dont wanna give out too many details =P)

  • dang im sorry to hear that

  • @konsybob thats what i thought too at first.but go to other towns. ul find some people eventually

  • damn ive been practicing drums since 8 years old (im 15 right now) for my opinion i rock, and i started a band, but my band members are not willing to follow the same dreams as i am, tho they dont know a shit how to play + i got no vocals...its messed up, i mean whats the good part about been good at something if ur alone, im desperate to find people who r willing to do this. (ps im not inviting anyone i dont think anyone lives near i am but im just expressing myself lol)

  • find a new band to drum for

  • also if you want to play for gigs you have to practice on your timing. and another thing is that if you suck and you know you suck then please dont be going off saying that your in a band. because that is just a stupid because the people you tell will want to hear you play and then if you suck then no one will want to give u a second chance.

  • im 15 and me and my band played a gig at a bikers bar

we played enter sandman and i did the solo

there is no greater feeling in the world then playing live

  • thanx bro that was extremely helpful.

  • playin Battle Of The Bands in a few months can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • enjoyable video, thanks man :)

  • thanks dude helped alot .

  • Woah not happy as soon as he seperated instruments and drums i hated him!

  • sometimes, it helps if you make demos of a song doestnt it?

im 14 in a band, and we want to record some stuff, i know we are young, but wasnt tokio hotel like 15or somit wen they became famous?.

we are a four piece band, and we said if we buy 1 mic each, we would have 4mics(obv)that means that we could record guitars and vocals, one at a time. after that, we wud do drums. do you need 4mics for drums, so that wud be a good idea-buying 1mic each?

an answer wud be greatly appreciated

    thanks

  • it is much better to make a demo in a studio, it is like 150 dollar /hour but you have professional mics and mixtable and stuff. to buy 4 mics will cost you more money for sure

  • the part with mistakes is sooo true ;) made me laugh, 'cause we do it a lot ;p

  • PLS POST A VID OF ONE OF YOUR SHOWS! :D

  • just type in leo rising you can watch him play there

  • @nocneil12345 Hes in Leo rising, search it, lol

  • thanks for the tips

  • I've been playing live for 25 years (Lead Singer) and this guy nails it.

  • just a comment about 'no audible tuning'; I went to a tool concert here in Ontario, and Adam Jones was tuning his guitar, but had some crazy effects on his guitar; it was absolutely amazing, and I just found it funny cause he was blowing a crowd away with tuning his guitar.

but thanks a lot, this has been a really good.

  • Yu just gotta love his enthusiam!

  • very useful1 10x!

  • i should show my friend this vid cuz our first song was good but the 2nd was an epic fail cuz i told him to talk to the crowd but he didnt listen cuz we wer up there he didnt say the name while i was all crazy and moving around the stage enjoying my time.

  • Thanks for the tips! I think next time I'm at an open mic night, I'm going to keep these in mind. Also, I'm gonna try the wireless "trick" when I get a wireless system.

  • he also forgot one thing: PRACTICE!

  • indeed

all the other shit goes to hell if you dont practice

  • well this is a good explaing video, but it would of been better if he could of told us how to get a fuckin gig haha

  • lol ya cuz it's damn hard where I live

  • Pyro

  • mmmrrrhh mmmrhrrrh

  • Comment removed

  • Does it really matter? No.

  • David, I saw Buddy Guy go out in the audience with his wireless. He grabbed a guy's finger and used it as a pick as he played one of his signiture, wild "Buddy Guy" solos. The finger guy almost feignted and the audience went NUTS!!!

  • great tips

  • This doesn't apply to shoegaze bands.

  • how can i get the wireless for guitar?

  • whats under your hat?!?!?!?!

  • i'm asuming his head is

  • LOL !

  • Just started a full band. this helps alot! Thanks David!

  • Also, don't be too "black" regardless of style. A band full of nothing but black equipment/instruments/clothes on a dark stage isn't memorable. Add some color, hang banners you can light up or get a custom sign that lights up. Spend a hundred bucks and ad some gobo lights or light dancers.

Even if you're a death metal band, being completely black is a really bad idea. If you MUST be black, add a lot of chrome/silver. A big white name banner with black letters. Black is overdone.

  • led zeppelin were great performers so was jimi hendrix
