my arab's great great grandsire through direct sire line ;) Marquis looks just like him, esp in the fast lope. even has the star to match! True to his lineage, my boy has the sturdy neck and more traditional arab look that I love. RIP *Bask
Ansata Ibn Sudan couldn't move out of a paper bag compared to *Bask, but I do agree, he was esoterically much prettier. Bask was a Koheilan type, not Saklawi at all.
My mare is a triple cross to this boy, She is also now back in foal to Produce another Fen Foal :). Fen is also imported from poland just like Bask* was, though I must say Fen has grace, good character and solidarity, he does not have the awe inspiring beauty that Bask throws. Oh how I'm so glad to finally see a video of her Granddaddy, and Great Grandaddy, thankfully her foal has gone more with her looks ;), while having both of their well founded conformation :D
Stunning I can see where my gelding Baskimbeau (ROCHAMBEAU x Miss Kimfa) takes after his grandsire. Wish he wasn't a gelding so he could help carry on this blood line.
@Rvnghstwlf there are plenty of *Bask bred horses carrying on this bloodline....the breed is inundated with his blood, and unfortuantely, the Arabians that all these 'greats' descend from are dying out because everyone likes the show horse better than the real horse.
@NeverMimic79 Yes I agree with you I much prefer the older Arabian lines than these "Barbie Doll" show horses that seam to be the trend. Baskimbeau does have a full sister Bask In Red (Rochambeau x Miss Kimfa by Kimfa) I found through Data Source, She is a year older, if I could afford the cost I would contact her registered owners and see if I could get and embryo.
@Rvnghstwlf I think *Bask himself was a somewhat handsome horse, and he probably had great heart and character, but everything changed when he was imported. The true desert Arabians suddenly took the back door to these 'flashier' horses. Does anyone remember when Ansata Ibn Sudan won the U.S. National Champion Stallion title? That is the Arabian horse of legend, that is the Arabian horse of every young child's dream, that is the Arabian horse Bedouin tribes killed each other to protect, and
and to steal. Only the best were bred on. Nowadays you have people breeding horses with swan necks, too long ears that are not tippy, ridiculously dished faces or horses with no refinement at all, flat croups, curled tails (as oppossed to a 'flagged' tail), and animals that move as if they belong to a different breed. People who are only after status and money and that championship trophy willdo anything to get it, and it appalls me that the breed is forced to change because of it.
@Druydess uh infamous is not a positive word. It means well known for a BAD reputation. One would use the word in reference to say somone like Jack the Ripper NOT about this beautiful influential FAMOUS not infamous Arabian.
@ILoveYouMyBaby2123 Its my own opinion. I own a Polish/Egyptian gelding and he's amazing, though they wouldn't use him for any halter class. I just can't stand those modern halter horses. Its ridiculous, Arabians are supposed to be amazing athletes, not the drag queens that win beauty contests at scottsdale.
Im sure that even the ugliest most deformed and carelessly bred horses that are so conformationally incorrect that they can't walk properly are 'perfect in your book' as well then?
@tikimurrayreg --OK time for a little self-education---the MOST prolific Arabian stallion and influential sire the breed has ever known...think Secretariat times 100....
In all the pics ive seen of him I really didnt realize he was that long in the neck. I know I can trust that this is real footage too and not something altered by Judith
