  • Please note this is LESSON 1..... yes... 1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... He took my money! hahahaha I didnt learned anything.. (I knew he was awesome before this)

  • HE''S OBVIOUSLY BORED AT THIS POINT

  • 2 words. Fucking Awesome.

  • some of the scales reminds me of zakk wylde acctualy, I wonder if he had some inspiration from Yngwie

  • Its fake

  • @increpante Apparently, you're the one who sucks for thinking Yngwie plays with ''no expression''. Other than his perfect technique and his impressive skills, he's probably the guitarist who puts the most feeling in his bends and his whole way to play in general. Shredding doesn't take the feeling off, you know?

  • How is that fake?

  • I think I know what he's talking about..

I don't think it's fake but look at 1:24 and next.. it's not those not notes that Malm plyaing.. :)

  • there is a bit of a sound delay if that is what your talking about

  • yeah, right!

  • He's swedish.. and he effing rocks! this Song was awesome :)

  • insane guitarist but what a shit personality

  • Reminds me of something I used to play teaching myself going up the neck doing basic 3 octave minor and major appregios. Go up in one pattern, then down the next inversion along the neck, then change chord in the same scale and do the same thing.

  • hmm...i dont like it. Looks good but sounds a little strange to me.

  • As usual, a great performance but a completely useless lesson.

  • how the hell is this a lesson?

  • @killa411 Just play along.

  • Because he doesn't like buzz-saw distortion.

  • that solo just gave birth to an entirely metal baby...

  • UUUHHHHH the king!!!!!

  • well if that's lesson #1 what the hell is lesson 2 going to be like..

  • yngwie malmsteen is a brilliant and very fast guitarist, i don't particularly like him but his technique is amazing can any one tell me, why when it says lesson 1 he doesnt actual go through what hes playing it's really annoying its like he wont show anyone how to do what he does haha

    thanks alot,

    Nick

  • yeh man its so awsum

i wanna be tht gd 1 day lol :-)

  • take a number and join the club bro lol

  • What were those moves in the end? He had recalled that it was supposed to be a lesson?

  • lol . lesson ?

malmsteen is like chuck norris . he don't give lessons . he IS the lesson . look at him and you'll see god lol

    **(joke inside... ) **

  • lmao

  • very good guitar lesson malmsteen. this lesson gives more than i can learn over the years. great clip!

  • Is that really Yngwie? He looks like a mess.

  • but malmsteen has 3 good instruction videos.

    play loud 1st 2nd and 3rd movement..

unfortunately they are hard to get nowadays..

i oly have the 1st movements basics

  • couldnt agree more jambious

  • This is absolute shite because all he is doing is playing fast arpeggios up and down the fretboard in different octaves at superspeed to give the illusion he is some kind of articulate musician. Give it a rest. What a pile of wank.

  • This piece is nothing but a technical study, he wrote it specifically for this instructional video so why would it need to be musically valid?

  • Jambious, speak for yourself. I think this piece has a lot of passion. He even refined it a bit and put it on his next album. He is an articulate musician. Anyone familiar with his career would know this.

  • arpeggios from my ass

  • Those who thinks that this is an instructional video, they came to a wrong place. It isn't profitable as an instructional video, 'cuz it isn't that kinda video. It is just a video for watching and being amazed by. Yngwie is a Maestro ! End of the line.

  • I think Malmsteen has great style and he was an innovator. The only thing is that his songs really don't have enough variety. 90% of his solos are in harmonic minor it gets kind of repetitive after awhile. He should have done a few albums that stood out from his signature sound.

  • Wonderful Sweep technich..

  • this isnt a guitar lesson. very few expert guitarists could play this.

  • oh!!!

please sir i try to learn something

yes, i know u can play houndreds notes for second

  • it is not meant to be an instructional video.

  • It's an excerpt from his Young Guitar DVD, so yes, it is.

  • This is from "Full Shred" which he made in 2000. It is a demonstration video only. Yngwie himself has explained this.

You must be thinking of the "Play Loud" series.

  • God thats sooooo awesome

  • very fuckin cool...absolutely useless to me but its still pretty cool

  • and this is a fuckin lesson?

  • "instructional video" ^^

  • lol herman li.. dude herman li is as boring and noise as joe stump.. secondly if it weren't for yngwie you would be at home in a circle jerk with your jr. high friends watching greenday videos thinking thats real shred. By the way mord3r I met yngwie many times hes not an asshole. well he is to dipshits that approach him with stupid question. I talked to him at NAMM twice and and and talked to him a few times after live shows. he was way cool.

  • kirk fagmagnet is the LEAST creative.. kirk only knows 2 scales.. pentatonic and aeolian. and 1 finger pulloffs.further more kirk cant wrote his his ballbag depended on it. your an absolute reject.. guthrie govan is where it's at dipshit.

  • jimmy page is god

  • lol its very hard to explain. C'mon Yngwie don't be a prick.

  • you guys vai is the most creative guitarist in the world no dought, have you guys heard bulding a church,

herman li is the only one who gets close to vai in creativity. and slash sucks ass im better then him!

in long speedy riffs paul gilbert rules all.

  • i wouldnt say herman li, watch his video lessons on youtube, they suck, i play better than what herman li does on those shitty video lessons, michael angelo batio would be the closest to vai, for all round good guitar playing kirk hammett is probbably the most creative.

  • I want to know why he uses scalloped frets. I've never tried them in my 20 yrs. of playing, but it must feel odd at first. His sound and style even on a single note is so unique, does he have an advantage with that neck?

  • You tend to have more control in the bends and vibratos. But if you are not careful you can push down on the string to much and create sharp notes.

  • I dont get how this is a lesson

  • Yngwie is the best 'Shredder' these days better than Joe Satriani (SHIT) and Steve Vai (ALSO SHIT) but no one can beat Slash, Zakk Wylde, Hendrix, Page and Toni Iommi

  • All those guys are good at different things. Yngwie is my favorite, but I certainly would NOT say Vai and Satriani are shit! You think Toni Iommi is impressive are you kidding me?? Great song writer but lousy player!

  • Vai and Satriani are just Perfectionists!!! Slash wud own Satriani and he does in a video i seen were they play Led Zeppelins Whole Lotta Love and Satriani doent even get a spotlight! lol

  • Hmm, I guess it depends on your definition of "owned". I have seen Vai and Satriani in concert. Although Slash is a good blues player, Those two guys could play circles around him.

  • well tell me wats better G3 or when Slash and Zakk Wylde played Voodoo Child at Gibson's 100th anniversary!!! think about the Soul in the music, Vai has no soul in his music!!!

  • Yeah, I think Vai does lack melody. But his technique, uniqueness and control of the instrument go a long way. Satriani is more melodic, but now quite as dymanic technically.

Vai's best work was with David Lee Roth IMO.

  • clearly Slash beats anyone in looks!!!

  • I don't think Vai lacks melody at all. Ever heard "For the Love of God"? Listen to that and tell me there is not a good melody. It's ALL one great melody. How about his classical piece in "Crossroads"? Although the 'most feelingfull' piece is still "feelin' bad blues" by Ry Cooder in that movie. IMHO

  • I haven't heard everything he's done, but I have watched a few of his concerts and listened to a few songs here and there. I have generally always felt that his stuff is very quirky and random sounding. He was awesome in "Crossroads".

  • ya but ry cooder wrote a lot of it mostly the stuff the karate kid plays.... i mean all that the kid plays and sum of the stuff vai plays

  • he rocks

  • he bends strings with emotion lol bends them HARD

  • awsome

  • Kickass.

  • brilliant!!

  • i have a blue strat like that ;]

damn this guy pwns, i can't even do sweeps =[

  • Did yall' know he was in a band named Alcatraz. Steve Vai replaced him. Both of them got their start in that band I believe.

  • Steve Vai played with Frank Zappa before joining Alcatrazz. I think he was only 16 or something at the time.

  • Yngwie plays fast, yes, but notice there is always a great melody. This is a guitar lesson to show modes, scales and arpeggios.

    I'm sick of the critics.

He is every bit an influence as Steve Vai, Hendrix, Page to guitar players. Growing up in the 80s he definitely inspired me just as much, if not more. First time I heard "Crying" I was blown away. Speed is only PART of his arsenal. It is what is in between that makes the fast riffs fit. He has a VERY unique style. period.

  • Amen!!

But this is actually not a lesson. It's a demonstration video.

  • He makes shreding on a strat seem so easy!

  • Black Label Are Quality

  • say what you want this guy revolutionized guitar playing just as much as Eddie & Jimmi... just took it in a different direction. Love him or hate him he is awesome

  • I think it's great he always tells people to learn their theory. It's soooo simple, theory.

  • FLAWLESS...

  • his tone is so awesone he is the only one that can get it, its from his fingers.

  • ill admit, yngwies fast as fuck. but he gets too much praise for it, speed is not what really matters, he has absolutely no soul for music. hes a good shredder but thats all his songs are. really fast scales

  • People who think Yngwie has no feel need to check for their pulse! Did Paganini have no feel? Did Beethoven and Mozart have no feel either?

He does overdue the scaling, but it is the phrasing that determines feel. Speed has nothing to do with it.

  • not to start an agrument (if thats possible on youtube.. or even the fuckin internet) but i think most of yngwies stuffs inspired by drunken idiocy. it just doesnt seem like he really enjoys playing..

  • wow, I guess everyone hears something different. Considering he played 12 hours a day everyday growing up, I'm sure there is still some enjoyment there.

But I agree he often in recent years sounds less inspired and sloppy.

  • Yes I cant play that fast, Hendrix ,SRV, and Page couldent play that fast but who top's the greatest guitar players of all time chart's constantly. In the word's of Albert King "All these young kid's today try to play fast with no soul". O and next time try to come up with an actual argument. But to each his own I suppose :).

  • well youre sitting mocking other peoples guitar work although HIS music has no soul others do so learn to chill!!!!

  • No soul.Anybody could do this with enough practice. Maybe he should put less time into his hair and more into being original and developing a technique that's not based off of speeded up scales.

  • youre prolly just saying that cuz you prolly cant play that fast

  • hehe, right on.

  • are you saying you wouldnt play like that if you could

  • TSO is Tran Siberian Orchestra. Mark Wood. Awesome.

  • You would need a LOT of practice to pull this one off. Yngwie played 12 hours a day , every day as a child. He is original, in the sense that he adapted barouque classical violin to blues rock (at 12 years old).

As far as no soul? Im speechless.

  • beast

    best guitarist ever

  • If his music were human I'd fuck it. Enough said.

  • I am better

    he is not

  • Got it, Thanks!

  • Who's the jerk who gave this master 4 stars?

  • godlike

  • real guitar master

  • what lesson fret masterbation say no more

  • Definitely photoshopped.

  • hehe, NO :P i've seen him live and he plays it.... faster O.O

  • FAKE

    lol

  • not fake!!

  • :) I was kidding.

    lawl

  • it isnt a lesson, the guy who put it on youtube under lesson is either malmsteen himself or a complete dumbass, and im going with the second one.

  • If this is a lesson ... who the hell is supposed to be learning. This is a performance !!!!

  • ownage the whole way

  • Sweet!
