If you take compensation away from the top 3% of the country (The guys who earn over 300K per year Salary), what's to say those guys just say fuck this and quit? Most if not all, are in there 40's 50's, have made a lot of good investments, and could retire and live like kings for the next 30 years, while this country ROTS. YOU CANNOT TELL PEOPLE HOW MUCH MONEY THEY CAN MAKE! W/O these genius's at high level positions running these companies, we wouldn't even have an economy. Use YOUR BRAINS
The CEO's and boards who were cumulatively making tens of billions of dollars knew very little about the business practices of their corporations. It wasn't the guys at the top who were running these businesses. It was the derivatives traders at the bottom. Fuld didn't know what a credit default swap was. The excesssive compensation structure which rewarded short term profit rather than long term accountability WAS the reason for this mess. And they stole your money, so DON'T DEFEND THEM.
But, does it stop there? Capping salaries for failed companies is one thing, and I agree with it. However, if this plan works, will Obama go from, just the failed companies, to the companies that might fail, or the companies that are making to much money, or to all the companies, or to all the wealthy people in America? Capping salary will defuse ambition! This country is built on the foundation of working hard, and getting paid for it.
It's an amazing co-incidence isn't it that Obama decides that $500K is "enough" and that's the same amount he took for a book deal just days before taking office.
So he makes policy based on something arbitrary like how much he gets in a book deal. He's an idiot.
Google "Obama $500,000"
How long before he and his fellow statists (google "statism") decide how much anyone can make?
Read Animal Farm. The pigs are statists. But in real life the statists only think they're smarter.
We still have a lot of fans here for Bush. Nah, ..
Maybe these folks are trying some camouflages for opportunities to throw their shoes at B*sh and the Wall Street 9/11 gang. We all know security won't fend off shoes their bosses deserved.

~this is a socialist agenda - NO ONE should have gotten any money from the Gov - thats OUR money - to bad - so sad - you are bankrupt! - and the speech President Reagan made about some Dims trying to make a Socialized medical system - is one of the best speeches ever made - the idea that PRIVATE sector jobs would have a government employee tell them where to live and what they get paid is UN-AMERICAN! I feel sorry for our country under Obama - He will ruin and destroy the economy and country!
Yeah, this is our money and so lets go and wage an illegal war and spend it. That is what your disgusting president did last 8 years. Hey its the PRIVATE sector who came begging for money did they not??? How stupid can you guys be huh?
There should be a change to the minimum wage laws. Either scrap minimum wage altogether and guarantee everyone a cost-of-living-allowance (like inb the military) despite whatever they earn or tie minimum wage to the wages of CEO's. Like, maybe they could say the minimum wage at any company not be less than 1/5 of the CEO's pay
President Obama needs to stand up more often. Stop worring about what Republicans say and use your good judgement to recover this country. That's the change we voted for.
I love that many ignore this pay cap applies ONLY to companies that get bailed out. Guess what -- if we have to hold your hands through getting your company back on its feet, you'll have to make do with a "paltry" $500k.
Oh yes Obama! Nice work..shoulda been done a EFFIN long time ago! Bank Execs askin for help from the government while gettin 18 billion dollars in yearly salary... Pathetic and absurd!!!
Nobody likes that these jerks make tons of money while the little guys under them get laid off as their companies fall. Nobody likes that our tax money has gone to line the pockets of executives wealthier than 99.999% of Americans. But if we start dipping our hands into their pockets, then we begin to walk a tight rope straight into communism, which is not what this country stands for. If that's what you want, then you are anti-American and get the fuck out. I say let the companies fail.
That is one of the freedoms afforded by this country. There's nothing wrong with being rich. I don't think we should fund it, however, because that's not the American way, either. Did you even read my post? We don't need to help companies who overpay their execs, or any company, for that matter. If they fall, they fall. So be it. It's not the government's concern. If they succeed and make millionaires out of their execs, then so be it. It's none of our business if we don't support it.
@Homeboy2000 a stop of regulation and tax cuts will work. Credit will never work

A man robs a bank and we give him a $500,000 dollar salary. Prison would be more appropriate.

Go Obama!!!!!! There should be a cap on personal wealth in general.

I think the regulations have been too loose, but capitalism still fundamentally works. Capping wealth is a bad idea.
