Mike Mozard is a moron that exaggerates everything and only tried to scare people.

Lets take a look at both his quotes:

Jammie Thomas: Sure she downloaded 24 songs but did Mike mention the reason she got arrested was because she was streaming the media? Of course not!

Richard O'Dwyer: He was HOSTING links to infringing work on his own website, how this guy matches that up to simple downloading I'll never know.

The guy just exaggerates and causes scares.

In case you werent paying attention... CNET DISTRIBUTED hundreds of thousands of copies of file sharing software, and uhhh... HOSTED links to COUNTLESS copyrighted songs DIRECTLY on their website. If Richard deserves to be imprisoned, then tycoons like Shelby Bonnie and Sumna Redstone do as well.

Give me a break, The programs that Cnet distributed weren't mean't to be used for Copyright infringement, it was more aimed at file sharing. Technically its no different than Youtube.

And yes, I have watched Jeepers Media's videos in their entirety and all he does is exaggerate and causes scares, he then tries to back what he says up with completely invalid claims.

So don't bother coming at me with the "Cnet Distributed the software" claim because its not even valid.

apparently you didn't read the editorials written by CNET writers? they GLOATED the fact that these programs could be used for (and were intended for) sharing KNOWN COPYRIGHTED materials. Jeepers Media has compiled LOADS of INDISPUTABLE evidence showing this.

I'll stick to believing in SOUND EVIDENCE, instead of listening to ppl like you who don't have a clue as to what theyre talking about.

Ok, let me tell you what will happen if Mike is right.

The US Government will go and arrest every last person that ever downloaded from Megaupload which alone is way too much manpower.

You seriously expect me to believe that nonsense? Mike Mozard's "Evidence" is nothing but endless streams of internet pages, how that qualifies as evidence I'll never know.

The end of the day, this is the Internet and the last person people should listen to is a Youtube Whore that causes scares.

Ok, I will admit that maybe Mike is right about CNet enticing people into download copyrighted music but what does that have to do with the whole Megaupload incident? This video is clearly talking about the Megaupload takedown, not Cnet or SOPA and PIPA.

@ninetalescommander fair enough. the megaupload thing is a separate incident, like you said. however, it all ties into the debate as to whether or not sharing copyrighted files should actually be considered a crime. when you look at the big picture, it really seems to me that these big corporations created an aura of copyright infringement, just so they could have an excuse to make criminals of millions of people.

Personally, I don't think any action will be taken as it would take way too much manpower and its quite fruitless.

The US Government seem to be happy enough with having Kim Dotcom in custody plus alot of people have told me that they have no interest in going after end users.

Plus when you look at the Richard O'Dwyer incident it is actually in alot of ways similar to that of Megaupload just nowhere near as popular.

Its been quite a while now since Megaupload was shut down and has anyone heard any stories about end users getting arrested? I sure haven't plus the FBI apparently have said they aren't interested in end users so I'd say where safe.

In my opinion, suing and putting file sharers in jail is a sick and disgusting thing to do. We need to get the narrative out there that this it is the wrong approach (even if the government tells us otherwise)

Also, we need to educate more and more people that cbs/viacom were the ones who created the file sharing phenomenon in the first place.

Alright, I will admit that putting people in jail is a terrible thing to do but the suing part I can agree with.

Think about it this way, how would you like it if you spent a load of time making a music track, TV Show or movie only to have it pirated and downloaded for me without you making any money?

I personally wouldn't like it and I'd want to find some way to claim the money that is rightfully mine.

Alright, maybe some of them are already rich but that doesn't make it right.

@ninetalescommander that's where i disagree. files are infinitely replicable at zero cost, and therefore, there is infinite supply. people should not have to pay for something that has infinite supply. look at wikipedia, they do everything they do without making people pay, and stay in business through voluntary donations. People DO pay for things they like, even when they're not forced to. That's the economic model that ought to be in place when it comes to electronic files

the reason why megaupload got taken down was that the people that was running the site wasnt following protocals and laws like other torrents and file sharing companies were. and those other companies that do file sharing and torrents were never designed for people to freely distribute copyright infringement material. that was just regular people figuring out that they can abuse the site and do illegal stuff on the site

i think what jeepers media is spreading is propaganda. those cases of regular folk being charged is an isolated event. dont get me wrong, downloading copyright material is wrong. but it will take years and years and years to charge everybody that downloaded from megaupload. lets say 5 million ppl that did stuff from mega upload got charged. they dont have that kind of man power to charge 5 million ppl. they dont have enough lawyers and judges to get them all thru the justice system
