  • Aww their so cute :)

  • Question Emily; When putting the pup on a cold damp towel (thermal stimpulation) you said that it is to mildly stess them, what is the reason behind this?

  • @stephdodgerkaylee "Data involving laboratory mice and rats also shows that stress in small amounts can produce adults who respond maximally. On the other hand, the results gathered from non-stressed littermate show that they become easily exhausted and would near death if exposed to intense prolonged stress."

You're basically giving their neuro system an early jumpstart.

  • I am a breeder of Doberman Pinschers. I tried this with my recent litter and found them to be calmer and more alert pups.

  • THATS AWSOME! but why are the excersices so short? O.O

  • @koreath I'd assume to make sure that the puppies don't get stressed out about what is going on. I may be wrong though.

  • @MelodyPythonVeria thats resonible

  • Wonder if it works on human babies...

  • Marry us!!!

  • My female is in heat and she will be breed next week. When i found this info it was with my last litter but it was to late already because they were already to big so I am going to start it with the new pups that she will be having.

  • Thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate that you do not promote breeding in the vid description -- there is an unfortunate glut of breeders in this world and so many that care little for the well-being of the dogs.

  • I did these exercises with a rescue litter of standard poodles. We also held the puppies frequently and talked to them and showed them lots of affection. When the puppies went to poodle rescue at the age of almost 5 months, I was told that they were the smartest, nicest and most well-adjusted puppies they had ever seen. This REALLY does work!

  • can u do these exercises to 8 week olds?

  • Do you have by any chance any following up on the pups? How are they doing?

  • This is a really great program to follow, I started doing it with my German Shepherd Litters about 3 years ago and had great success, the new owners always tell me how their puppies are so smart and really easy to train, this REALLY WORK so if any of you out there are breeders, this is something to look at an implement to your breeding program.

  • @yajairafcuesta can you give me more info regarding your experience with this program i will be having a litter in 2 months but I would love to implement it with this litter.?

  • @bankg92 I am a breeder and also a Dog trainer and after starting the program I have noticed that the puppies are learning basic training alot faster and at a very early age, also I noticed they are reaching the milestones earlier than before and they seem stronger. After I started the program I keep getting reports from new owners that are amazed as to how fast their puppies learn houstraining, and basic commands. Im glad you are starting to do this with your litters. :)

  • @yajairafcuesta thanks i am exited to try it out anything to help the pups become healthier and stronger is worth trying for. I will i will send you a message if I have other questions latter ok

  • @bankg92 Great, feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. Im not an expert on it or anything, but I have being doing it for quite a while, and will be happy to answer any questions I can help you with. Good luck.

  • I had never heard of this method. Very interesting and makes a lot of sense to get even more out of the dogs all of their true potential!!

  • I saw a doccie on rearing and training guide dogs in the US and they use this method as well on all their puppies. I found it fascinating! The sad thing for most people is that we have little access to our puppy before we take it home. Wouldn't it be great if all breeders did this?

  • Another nice job of relaying good research and training. Thx for sharing!

  • Wow, this is very interesting stuff. Once again another great video, thanks!

  • oh really? what did u eat? :O chiles with shrimp by any chance? i think they told me but im not sure lol

  • Yes, it was shrimp inside chilies! They were amazing!

  • ha!.. diva & her pups!! just sayin' hi ;)

  • Hey! I didn't know you were on here! Right after we played with the pups I ate the best food I ever ate in my LIFE!

  • Is this relevant?

  • Oh, how adorable! It's great to see a video of this, I've only ever read about it.

Personally, I have a Malinois puppy craving!

  • thats very interestin,I knew early handling is good for the pups, very nice video

  • Yeahh ! i hadd juss seen this on TV yesterdayy ! :D This is greatt ! :D

  • I was just reading about this while checking a bc breeder web-site, apparently they do this with their newborns. It is so terrific to see it in practice. Thanks for making this Em, had to favor it.

  • Hmmm.... Very suspicious behavior... are you by chance craving a BC puppy?!?! LIke me....

  • I am. The timing isn't right but that doesn't stop the research, plus this breeder happens to have 4 girls & 1 boy that look very much like Mi. . . but. . . for you. . . just a craving, or an action??

  • just a craving... :) I crave a bunch of other dif breeds of pups too...

  • agreed, so many beautiful breeds with so many wonderful qualities. . .

  • Awesome job getting this info out!

  • This is a great program, thank you for sharing, Emily.

I've helped with a few service dog litters who get this, and am working with a young litter right now - clicker training starts tomorrow!

  • Great vid Emily!

I have already seen this method a couple of times (articles, books) but I only know of one breeder doing it.

It's sad, most breeders (especially in my country) do very poorly in the socialization and enviromenthal enrichment part. As so, the owners must expose their pups to several risks in order the promove(?) the socialization that wasn't done.

This video is already in my Favorites, I'll do my best to change things around here. :)

  • I've added this to my favorites and will show it to my friend Gloria. Gloria has Fire, who is Savvy's mother and Gloria is Savvy and Shebang's breeder.

Fire has been bred to Surge, who is SHEBANG's full littermate brother. Fire is expecting SHEBANG nieces on July 4th!! Guess who is on the list to get one? Yep...me! A Shebang niece, I can't wait!! I'll show this video to Gloria so the pups have even better chances of being Super pups!

Please keep fingers crossed for GIRL pups!

  • Tammy, that is awesome! Fingers crossed for sure :)

  • WOW! You are just too lucky! How exciting! I bet Savvy will be pleased!

  • great video, very interesting!

  • I heard something similar before. Thanks for sharing!

  • I do this with my puppies but I will tell you the most succesful preformance kennel for Labradors in the world Candlewoods does not do this they have produced more FC/AFC and National and Amatuer Champions than any other kennel ever so it does make you wonder

  • I can see these exercises really making a big dif. with a liter that only had one pup, or with breeds that have small litters. As the pups were feeding I saw many of the puppies getting squished into similar positions. (mom licking one of the pups when in the "supine position"). But I am a firm believer that you can create amazing dogs through conditioning and reinforcement, so a breeder that is an awesome trainer, might make the dogs look better than they really are genetically.

  • my two dogs are examples of that- in the wrong hands my BC might be dangerous and my chihuahua would be the typical fearful chihuahua (she only began socialization at 5 months)

  • Oh I agree we have done this with our puppies for years But Mary Howley at Candlewoods is not the Trainer her dogs are campaigned by the top trainers including Mike Lardy and the bloodlines are the elite of the elite few if any National Champions do not carry that kennel name in the pedigree and the only dog to win a Nat five times was a Candlewood bitch ithe name Candlewood is Labrador royalty ,I called her one time and asked her if they did the ENS she said no

  • Yay, I am so glad you did a video on Early Neurological Stimulation! More breeders should do it! I've seen the difference in several litters already. Kudos!

  • This is great, I just wish owners of puppies actually did these exercises.

  • loved it. i wish the owners of my doberman pup did that :)

  • 5* and a fav. The Mal puppies were so cute! I have heard of this program, although the name I am familar with is the Super Dog Program. I first heard about this from Mary Ray. Every reputable breeder should be using this program as well as an extensive socialization program.

    Ashley & Kaine

  • I know! They were adorable! Good thing they are in mexico or I would be over there every day and I would be scared I would get too attached to them!!!

  • Very interesting!

Oh, I just want to cuddle with those babies so bad!

  • Emily, that was an awesome video. I totally have read about ENS and find it very interesting! How awesome that you get to work with those puppies! They are very cute by the way! I have another video that I will send you on this same subject! Keep up the great work! Pam

  • Thats kool :]

  • I've heard of ENS before, but I've never seen a demonstration of the exercises -- very informative, and professional!
