  • athiesm is still not a religion

  • I downloaded this song ca. 1 year ago, and its stil the song i hear the most when im stoned

  • You should not account a piece of art by it's topic but by it's beauty. God bless

  • I'm a strong believer in Christ and this song has an epic message. Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, whatever religion you may be you have to appreciate such a gorgeous piece of work.

  • God Bless the USA!

  • @TheLoyalOfficer what?

  • @MrBlasterFilms arrogant american!

  • @TheLoyalOfficer God Bless the World, man.

  • 0:00

  • This game is very good , this is my favorite game and cristopher tin sing excellent..... oooooooo sid meiers thanks for developed him :D

  • Some devout Christians will turn their noses up at ornately carved statues and historically rich temples because they depict non-Christian symbols and characters. If, as an athiest, you pride yourself on not being as "ignorant" and "judgemental" as religious people, then you ought not to make the same mistake. Enjoy great music, even if you disagree with what it's saying. The notes don't know what the words mean.

  • @TheL0STSurvivor

    Amen to that ;)

  • Humans are the most intelligent, yet dumbest species on Earth. We are so caught up in technology and advancements that we don't realize that we are slowly killing ourselves, and need to make dramatic changes with the way we do things.

  • OHHHH That is incomplete!! U_U there´s not the aztecs wonder U_U

  • I agree with the others; I'm as atheistic and anti-religious as they come but it does not prevent me from enjoying great music. Some of the greatest paintings and melodies out there are religious in nature, and I know that. It doesn't mean their religion is necessarily true or that I'm worshiping it; I simply appreciate their art.

  • Very inspirational. It motivates me to build the best empire I can.

And maybe do invade a couple of folks here and there.

  • This montage is very well cut. Syncs well with the beats. I was surprised by the Hollywood sign - wtf! :)

  • ahh this song may be a prayer but it still makes me want to take an army into battle and slaughter my enemies......is that wrong....

  • @brett42k .... Yes!

  • @Axelgear2006 o well dont care its an epic battle song to me mwahahha

  • I like your "creation". I think Baba yetu is a Great song. I also like civilization IV warlords. Well Done !

Im from Germany, if you have a Kind of Description how to make a Video like this with the Windows live Movie Maler please send me a Mail at my Youtube-Account.

    Thanks kazilik95

  • Beautiful music. Quick historical note: The Aghia Sophia (2: 30) was originally a Christian Church and not built with minarets: those were added over 900 years later w/ the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks. Maybe the designers of the game felt that the building had reached its pinacle of beauty when it was a mosque rather than being historically acurate (chronologically speaking)... The last Liturgy there ended w/ all the Christians within the Church being massacred (May 29, 1453).

  • Jeremy Jahns made me come here

  • W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L

  • I originally saw this a couple years ago. Has it been extended since then? Because it's even better then I remember, thank you for uploading! :D

  • I dont think it matters that this song is the lord's prayer or not, it has a strong spiritual message that I believe everyone is touched by - I dont know any of this language (swhili I think) and I knew this song had a deeper meaning right from the start. it's an amazing piece of music. I agree with nighthawk, this TOTALLY should be the world's national anthem once a new era of mankind without greedy coorperations and loobyists has been established! PS: I'm agnostic/atheist.

  • All Swahili music is also fun energetic and great to sing!

  • People who are angry about this being a prayer: Get over it. This song awesome and it's not proselytizing anything. This is a beautiful anthem about the march of civilization. Don't let your irrational hatred of religion get in the way. Just enjoy it and be proud to be part of the human race.

  • @sephalon1 I am an Atheist and I LOVE this song. Just like the Sixtine Chappel or the Taj-Mahal can evoque un-named emotions when we marvel on their beauty, regardless of Relion or Personal philosophy. Thumbs up on the comment.

  • @PT109Boat Your comments have too many ridiculous spelling errors to thumbs up...

  • @sephalon1 irrational?

  • @sephalon1 Ok, to fact check, it actually IS a prayer, not an "anthem about the march of civilization." It directly translates into a prayer which is almost identical to the Lord's Prayer. Now I'm not saying this isn't a great song and people aren't overreacting about it but you need to admit that it actually is a Christian prayer.

  • @MrTroxel It is a prayer to the Lord, whether it is a Christian, Buddhist, Taoist or Hindu prayer is of no importance.

  • @sephalon1 Then again, the search for meaning, which often culminates in religion is an integral part of humanity. Religion is happiness and makes you proud, it's divisiveness causes conflict, and that's why nonbelievers and believers alike attack each other when they should focus more on what their religions teach, which is getting along with your common man and making the world a better place. America would not have been founded as it was if not for religion, and that's a fact.

  • @sephalon1 Exactly. I'm an atheist myself but I still appreciate the beauty of music like this. It's foolish to write off music and art that was inspired by religion. Would you consider Michelangelo's Cistine Chapel or Leonardo's Last Supper worthless just because both are religious paintings? I think not.

  • @sephalon1 spoken like a boss.

  • I find this song interesting; though I can't say it quite fits the "march of civilization" theme. It certainly would fit well with the beginnings of the colonial era in the game though.

  • yes, I wish it was about something else.

something that has nothing to do with.....religion..

  • which Civ is the great wall in? it says Civ IV in the title, but which one? like is it one of the expansion packs?

  • I wonder how many people realize this is the Lord's prayer. Beautiful.

  • You forgot the Space Needle.

  • This makes us realize what epic people we are :) The wonders going up and they come crashing down! We're amazing in every way! I hope we conserve our planet long enough before we can reach the stars. All those people French British Greek German Indian American Russian Austrailian Chinese Japanese Spanish Portugese Dutch Turk Swedish Norwegian Finnish Danish Polish Mexican Brazilian. We're all epic I love live so much and i think the reason why thing song is epic is because it is so invigorating

  • Comment removed

  • This is the Lord's Prayer, just an FYI.

  • All we need is Morgan Freeman's sweet, sweet voice saying philosophal phrases from time to time.

  • @blackcloak9432 lol, he would make a perfect narator for civ VI :)

  • @NightHawk92929 I thought Lenard Nimoy did an awesome job

  • @Kilocron He did, but you can't really beat morgan freeman :)

  • @blackcloak9432 They should totally get him for CIV6

  • @blackcloak9432 That or Leonard Nimoy's.

  • If you like this song go to the live video games live version! Cant say enough about it.

  • Its the Our Father In Swahili its pretty epic

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • This fits anything, its the civilization guilles theme. It fits: love, war, building, ANYTHING

  • No wonder this won a grammy. This makes anyone happy.

  • This is The Lord's Prayer in Zulu. Wonderful to sing! I miss singing this in school.

  • @grandpasgoof its swahili

  • @westq2 Zulu is also part of Swahili. A teacher at our school taught us how to sing this properly.

  • @grandpasgoof that can be said about all the bantu languages but still this is swahili im from kenya i know this

  • I love this song, but I don't know what it has to do with the game. XD

  • actually my local church brought me to this song

  • Reminds SO fucking much of The Lion King.

  • @gheith001 This is Swahili, which is of course an African language. The Lion King is set in Africa, so there explains the similarity.

  • Very good music, i like this vid ONLY for this beautiful music!

  • this is the best game song i've ever heared :D

  • People that disliked thought that it wrote "DIS I LIKE "

  • I love this song

  • Ah, that's good for the soul.

  • Who the fuck is Jeremy Jahns?!

  • My school concert choir just sang this!

  • You can even make jewish nazis

  • @RXdash78 FLOSS FTW

  • Civilization 5 is an abomination. Civilization 4: BTS for life.

  • Our choir sang this song for graduation this year :)

  • so good! thank you! because of you our school choir won 1st place in disney world orlando florida!:)

  • It is a song like this that allows one to truly admire the broad impact and grand scale of humanity in its entirety, I have only felt like that whilest listening to one other song and that is Europa by Globus, I highly recommend it. Again, this has to be among the finest pieces of music ever composed...

  • amazing songs it make me go on tears XD

  • So nostalgic...

  • I was sent here by Civilization IV. Who's Jeremy Jahns? When did this get a Grammy?

    I R so oblivious.

  • @Gothos idk when it did, but it's the only song made for a game to win a grammy.

  • thumbs up if you typed "civilisation 4 song" in google to get here like i did lol

  • JETRHO!!!!!!!!

  • This should be the world's national anthem.

  • @NightHawk92929

It totally should! Wouldn't be very politically correct though, since only about a third of the world's inhabitants are christian... I guess you could maybe convince the other Abrahamitic religions to accept the lyrics, but it would probably be hard for the rest of the world to agree with...

  • @NightHawk92929

I totally agree. But the world isn't a nation. :-\

    jus' sayin'

  • @NightHawk92929 But then you're hardly encompassing the entire world. This has very definitive African(esque, even) themes, and as someone with absolutely no ties to Africa I'd feel insulted if it were used as-is. Add in different instruments than voice, percussion, and classical strings and I'd be more than okay with that. :D

And of course, I'm hardly saying it's a bad song or whatever. :P

  • @ZephImmortal Of course you have ties to Africa. Everyone has, humanity originated from Africa.

  • @Sharagran what?

  • @NightHawk92929 I think anyone not Christian might have a problem with that.

  • @MrTroxel I'm not a christian, hell I'm not even part of any religion and i would have no problem with it :)

  • @NightHawk92929 That is something to be proud of, but sadly not everyone is as open minded as you.

  • @NightHawk92929

    you mean international anthem..... XD

  • @NightHawk92929 I agree, it'd be more suitable if there were multiple languages for different verses, to represent the diversity in our world.

  • @NightHawk92929 It is epic but it's the lord's prayer and the entire world is not Christian...

  • @NightHawk92929 A Christian prayer in some special language? I dont think so, cos there are more religions than this one...

  • @tazginpax its in Swahili. its pretty great.

  • @NightHawk92929 Or not

  • @NightHawk92929 Song by what seems like Africans the least civilized people in the world. ofc

  • I'm so happy, me and my school are singing this at our next choir concert...IT'S GOING TO BE SO AWSOME!

  • @XDJJ10XD my choir is too!! i cannot wait. hands down best song we do. i love how its the lord's prayer in sawhili:)

  • Played this yesterday as the Russians. Tokugawa is extremely upset with me. Please Help!!!

  • Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina! Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe. (x2) Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey! Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, milelea milele!
  • @Schattendead You, sir, deserve a cookie!

  • Ufalme wako ufike utakalo Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni. (Amina) Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey! Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, simovu mwehu (?) Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe. x2 Thumbs up so that everyone can sing along!
  • intensely nerdy video... but i got here through a revision music playlist, so i'm hardly one to talk!

  • so cool that it got the first video game grammy

  • awesomeness

  • We're playing this song in band in a Video Game Medley and I love it so much. <3

  • Who has Civ IV?

  • @Ratkill9000 pfft, who doesn't...........

  • @Ratkill9000 I do

  • @Ratkill9000 i even have civ 2:P and all of them above 2

  • I don't understand, how can you not fall in love with this song instantly?

  • 1:58-2:58 holy shit thats realistic!

  • hãha_gÈbt_mal_bëÍ_goÓglë:_geldeasy_ÈiN_vøll_krÃss

  • @angeliashann lol fuck you

  • 3:36 is what?

  • Who the fuck is jeremy Jahns?

  • @aztecsaxwarrior look him up

    hes pretty cool

  • i don't think i would enjoy the game as much as i enjoy this song considering the fact that im an anarchist and don't believe in being civilized because human nature alone isn't civil... again, my opinion

  • @pyschokiller2 then get the fuck off the computer

  • AWESOME :D

  • @Triaxlium Thumps up if you can form a grammatically correct sentence!

  • @Triaxlium i think he sent you here and you're lying

  • 41 people were deaf!

  • This is the most beautiful thing I have ver heard.

  • I'm an Atheist, yet there are some great religious inspired music out there.. Matthaeus Passion being the top!

The music from the real Africa is great... However I am frustrated that most Black Americans can take any form of credit or inspiration from their ancestral roots. Their methods, and music is analogous, at best, to CEO Bank executives - get rich quick - no soul.

  • @ElDuorPaso I'm an Atheist that believes that all personal beliefs should stay personal.

  • @sargentaaron2004

    Including that one :)

  • Jeremy who?

  • You know,no one gives a shit if you knew of this song before it got an award - it's not an accomplishment.

People come to listen to this song because it's good, not because it's famous,so shut up already...

  • quite possibly the most epic game ever, play it on marathon length, game went on for days, world ended with a nuclear holocaust, funny thing, human nature.

  • I know Jeremy Jahns is awesome, I subscribe to this channel, but do we really need BOTH of the top-rated comments to be about him? What about something more insightful, like how this is a Christian prayer in Swahili or about how well-done the song is, it did win a Grammy after all, or how about a comment on the game?

  • Very well done! This might as well have been the intro to the game

  • This game is sooooo superior to the fifth...

  • this song is amazing.!! :)

  • The pyramid, hanging gardens and such in the end of the video should be extended by a few sec, and the friggin hollywood sign should be removed, its not a wonder lol :P

  • @Baleur The sign of Hollywood is a wonder in that it represents the golden age of cinematography, which brought everyone a new and revolutionary form of entertainment. Before that there were only screenplays.

  • @Elliottisadrummer You said it pal!!!!

  • @Elliottisadrummer Don't bash Jeremy. Myself and i am sure a few others did not know this existed until he linked it. That said, it is the best game music I have heard.

  • They messed up the Hollywood sign! that sign origonally was spelled 'hollywoodland' but there showing it without it!

  • So glad we get to sing this in my choir at school :)

  • This song is the Lord's Prayer in Swahili.

  • @strawberrymushroom Been playing Civ 4 for bloody years. Incredible game, still holds its own against Civ5 and newer games

  • @strawberrymushroom Who's Jeremy Jahns?

  • @dlkohl1981

sorry for butting in, but you need to know about Jeremy Jahns. He's a movie reviewer here on youtube who has hilarious reviews or movies, games, or just random shit going on in the world. Like I said, he's hilarious, and worth a watch.

  • This song is awesome.

I remember the first time i listened.

    Was epic.

However, the game is a piece of shit (nothing compared whit civ 3 or civ 2)

  • @cristobal156 Play Civilization V and you will come to respect Civ IV :D

  • @strawberrymushroom Could you tell me some differences between civ 5 and civ 4?

BTW I love civ 3 but its sad to not see any game in multiplayer =/

  • a grammy

  • My dad loves these games. I haven't played any of them but he can play that game all day for days and be perfectly content so they must have some maret.

  • @blueeyesaf addicting as hell.

  • the themes song from Suikoden III (3) Introduction is much better

  • Thumbs up if you know what the lyrics mean! :D

  • Personally i prefer Warlords expansion over the original Civ IV. Though how is Beyond the Sword compared to Warlords?

  • @Ratkill9000

Only differnce is more techs civs and wonders. Basicaly just adds on

  • This song made this game epic(er).

  • To me one part (after the Great Wall of China) sounds like a mix of songs that I would hear in Disney's Tarzan and Lion King.

  • When I first loaded up this game and heard this song I knew the game would be amazing.

  • This game is boring as fuck. The song, however, is fucking awesome.

  • @onlycasual1 lets just say for the game, you have to have a huge imagination to make the civilization really come alive. I remember i imagined my people in my cities, and i swelled with pride the first time when almost all my cities had a "Love the King" day. You just have to imagine yourself as the ruler of a small city, entirely dependent on you and it is you task to bring it to greatness, a great weight on your soldiers. It becomes awesome once you do that (ps. BEWARE OF WARMONGER GHANDI!!!

  • Really? You end on the statue of liberty?

  • Jeremy send me here but i knew this song when he was still in diapers . Just sayin...

  • Thanks Jeremy for sending me here!!

  • Everyone should check out Jeremy Jahns.

  • dont what the hell they are saying, but mo pwr to em. Bobba et tu et tu!!

  • Okay, I love Jeremy Jahn as much as the next guy, but asking someone to "thumbs up" your comment is extremelly annoying.

  • Creature talk!

  • awesome vid

  • baba yetu... our father... swahili... tanzania... damn.. it feels good to be a tanzanian

  • ha jeremy is raping youtube!
