Bill Walton broke 2 vertebrates in his back in 1974 from what Walton calls a dirty play that was intentional to hurt him. It has affected him since & his NBA career would have been much better. I also heard him say it was 11 days before the '74 finals (I believe), but he wore a back brace with rods to strenghten his back & played that game!
