Well stated Representative Edwards. He notes that there are honest differences on energy, and that those differences should be debated when an energy bill is on the floor. However, when it's a veterans bill, let's keep the debate on the veterans bill.

Republicans have stated that their goal is to prevent Democrats from passing any legislation. That's great. If Republican voters are comfortable with that kind of government, roll with it. I find it childish.

There are much more environmentally friendly ways to drill for oil than what your suggesting. And if the USA can produce its own oil and not have to rely on Canada or Venezuela or OPEC, then why aren't you for it?

The dollar is on the decline in value, only because we use more foreign oil. If we have more natural resources in house, than we import, the value of the dollar goes up.

What I wanted was for us to drive into alternative energy 10 years ago so we wouldn't be in this mess. You're solution to get out of the hole we're in is to drill more. That's not going to work.

Republicans blocked legislation to close the Enron Loophole and to force oil companies to drill in areas they already have available because they want to blame high prices on the environmentalists. This is an effort to turn the public against the environmentalists and defeat the oil companies main political opposition, not to lower prices at the pump.
