  • (36) The sects among them differ: but woe unto the disbelievers from the meeting of an awful Day. (37) How well they hear and see and hear them on the Day they come unto Us! yet the evil-doers are to-day in error manifest. (38) And warn them of the Day of anguish when the case hath been decided. Now they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not. (39) Lo! We Only, We inherit the earth and all who are thereon, and unto Us they are returned

  • (32) Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive! (33) Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt. (34) It befitteth not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is. (35) And lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So serve Him. That is the right path....CONT

He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet, (30) And hath made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and hath enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I remain alive, (31) And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest. .....CONT

  • And make mention of Mary in the Scripture, when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East, (16) And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man.(17) She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God-fearing. • The virgin birth is critical because it holds the key as to why he was able to overcome death

  • Paul said in Romans that Israel (due to a hardness of heart and disbelief) was hardened in part by God Himself (so that they could not descern the truth) until the fulness of Gentiles come into the faith, (AKA the inclusion of the Gentiles with the Jews of the commonwealth inheritance of God.)

Is it really a wonder that orthadox Jews don't "see" Jesus in their scriptures concidering that God Himself is keeping it from them? The eyes of the Jews will be re-opened to be able to see soon enough.

  • and I would take off this collar and go and find something more suitable to do with my life lol I like that!

  • Wow, if the summer Olympics ever opens a catagory for competitive mental gymnastics, this guy would take the gold every year while blindfolded. He makes Shawn Johnson look like a quadraplegic in a coma.

  • In the name of Allah, The beneficent the merciful.

    Quran:

    {Surah-26-the ant (naml)-vs-1}

Ta sin! These are the verses of the quran and the book that makes (things) clear,

2-a guidance and good news for the believers,

3-who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and of the hereafter, they are sure.

  • 4-as to those who do not believe in the hereafter, we have surely made their deeds fair-seeming to them, but they blindly wander on.

5-these are they who shall have an evil punishment, and in the hereafter they shall be the greatest losers.

6-and most surely you are made to receive the quran from the wise, the knowing god.

  • One of his arguments seem to be that christianity took of so rapidly, because of the resurrection. If that proves the resurrection, then what Joseph Smith wrote is even more believable. Because Mormonism took off faster than Christianity. 16 million followers in some 150 years.

  • @tallliza See the second last question in the video "Asking the right questions" with N.T. Wright, he answers exactly this criticism there.

  • @Hrugnir ; You believe what you want sir. For me the most important reason for not believing, is the fact that Jesus was a Jew. It is their history. And if they say jesus did not fulfill the scriptures there is no reason to doubt. They know their scriptures. Who are we christians(outsiders) to claim we have evidence he fulfilled the scriptures. That would be like Americans claiming we have evidence there is a king Mac Donald in Sweden, when the people from Sweden say, there is none.

  • @tallliza

Look, I'm deeply respectful of Jewish culture then and now, but if you have actually READ the Jewish Scriptures, it's basically one long story of how bad the Jews were at keeping their covenant.

Also, don't forget that Jesus and all of his followers were Jews, and used Jewish explanations for why this had fulfilled the Scriptures.

Once again, though, check out his answer in the other vide. His point isn't the rapid growth, but that Christianity EVER took off!

  • @Hrugnir

What I'm saying is that Isaiah, for example has all these references to the majority of Israel being "cut off", with a holy remnant being saved. For example, the Book of Isaiah is the second greatest prophet after Moses according to the Jews. In his calling (Isa 6:9-13), it's told that most of Israel will not hear, accept or repent. This exact text is later used by Jesus to explain what's going on when he comes.

Not even Jewish Scriptures claim that the Jews always get it right.

  • @Hrugnir look, before Jesus there had been several imposters, who claimed to be the Messiah. They were discarded because they didn`t fulfill the scriptures. There is no reason to believe that in Jesus case they did not examen if he filfilled the scriptures yes or no . They were expecting a Messiah. If you claim otherwise, you better have evidence.

Also, don't forget that Jesus and all of his followers were Jews... How many ? A handful !! Were are the letters to the christians of Jerusalem?

  • @tallliza You may want to sit down and have an in depth conversation with a Messianic Jew. I've taken several graduate courses given by a Messianic Jew and attended (as a visitor) a Messianic synagogue, and I've learned a great deal. Messianic Jews carefully compare the life and actions of Jesus to the traditional Jewish scriptures - and can give clear answers as to who Jesus was - and can show how orthodox Judaism incorrectly negates the role of Jesus.

  • @XtianGuitar Man, go to any seminary and you will get the same in depth vues about chrsitianity. I know, I was there. The fact is sir,the overwhelming number of jews, in biblical times and now, reject Jesus as the Messiah. Are they all dummies ? They study THEIR scriptures for over 2.000 years, and they still maintain he did not fulfill THEIR prophecies. That handful of jews who converted to christianity prove nothing. Conversions go in all directions.

  • @tallliza just read the dialogue with Tripho by St. Justin martyr... and you will realize that , yes, maybe they are all dummies...

  • @tallliza that is because the word of God is not discerned by flesh and blood but by the Spirit of the Lord you can not have faith within your humanity and neither can they you must be like them born of the blood of Jesus christ and that means to acsept him as Lord of your life and on that note that is why they can not see it is the goodness of God and the power of God which leads them to have their eyes opened and see the truth!

  • "The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Thomas Jefferson, 1823.

  • @donlaxner Exactly !!

  • Cool. I have thought this for years but have rarely found others able to overcome their church traditions and examine the text as it is. The Scriptures say heaps more about the resurrection of Jesus than the virgin birth. On the other hand, his use of Is 7:14 is a weak.

  • This is a ridiculous position to hold for a historian. This apologetics parading around as historical criticism.

  • @blannphinella Tom Wright is NOT an historian. He's a biblical scholar and a bishop.

  • @titusmountjoy he is a historian

  • @mmorrtt I don't know who you are and I could care less. I DO know Bishop Wright very well. He is a theologian and a scholar, not all questions of faith can be answered by simple historical inquiry as there were no video cameras 2000 years ago. That doesn't mean that some things didn't happen or that others did.

  • @titusmountjoy haha, jeez, don't get too worked up. I guess you missed out on this part 1:14 when he outright says "And so I ask myself as a historian...." You may need to watch the video again. Just curious, but isn't it possible for him to be a good balance of all three: theologian, scholar, and historian? With all of these elements he can probably see the bigger picture of it all.

  • @blannphinella just because it goes against your belief in metaphysical materialism doesnt mean his statements are not honest or not reasonable
