If you are talking about CoF & Dimmu and uttering their names in talks about great black metal..then no, they aren't really black metal. CoF used to -almost- be close back in the day. Dimmu - almost getting there - more like a symphonic bm, melodic bm.

The two aforementioned bands are more like lite-black metal. CoF, not so much-- you can tell by the music style and lyrics. (Dimmu is obviously more geared towards bm.)

Black metal doesn't have to be like it was in early 90's ... Music evolve and for every album that is made by satyricon it is a new and bigger achievement for the individual mus-artists.
