This is my all time favorite game, I cant stop playing the first Shenmue as well, I have been waiting for years for the 3rd and im sure we will see it in the not so distant future ^ ^
Yeah... That's the sadness of modern videogames. Sega lost tens of millions with Shenmue, because they thought the public loved quality and would follow them.
Now, they got the lesson, and they make millions selling Mario & Sonic retard olympics crap on Wii.
@EricBarbman What Sega should have did was hold off releasing the first game on the Dreamcast (which was on life support at the time) and released both Shenmues on the PS2. That was their biggest mistake with the franchise. Shenmue was going nowhere on the Dreamcast and X Box.
@JPThunder01 Take a minute to think about what you just said. At the time a hardware console made by Sega was around, so the only consoles sega would put games on would be a console made by Sega. In this case, the Dreamcast. Shenmue was a launch title, meaning it came out when the Dreamcast came out, so there is absolutely no way they would have considered putting the game on PS2 unless they were all oracles who could see the future.
@SlySpy91 Shenmue wasn't a launch title, it came out a year after the Dreamcast was released.. what are you talking about? Like I said the Dreamcast was on life support when Shenmue came out... only a year after the system's release. The PS2 had just come out when Shenmue was released and all signs were pointing towards Sega either closing up shop completely or becoming a third party company, of which they chose the latter. They would have had to be complete idiots not to see it coming...
@SlySpy91 The Dreamcast was practically dead when Shenmue was released, a year after the console came out. I guess you could technically consider Shenmue a launch title since it was probably in development before the Dreamcast even came out. Regardless, all signs were pointing to Sega either pulling the Dreamcast off the shelves and becoming a third party company or shutting down completely. AM2 would have had to be complete idiots not to see it coming and plan ahead releasing the game on PS2.
@JPThunder01 man this is so much bullshit. shenmue was released in 1999 in japan, dreamcast was at that time in full contention and in fact had just had the most succesfol console launch in history of videogames in usa and europe
Alternatively, if you go to the park at the first available opportunity and speak with him, Ryo leaves him just after they spar, and Jianmin says to himself "Jujitsu? Never heard of it."
Jianmin is Chinese, and he lives in China, so why is he speaking Japanese?
Sega should make it such Jianmin speaks Chinese (with English/Japanese subtitles) and Ryo speaks Japanese (with English subtitles) and that they understand each other and continue the conversation in their respective national languages.
I've seen Hong Kong movies done that way where a Chinese inspector reports to the Caucasian commissioner and they speak to each other in their own language - good stuff.
if not shenmue 3 at least remake them for xbox 360 and ps3 , its such a great story
