  • Not even close to actual thermite. Failure.

  • so basically an awesome thermite bomb right?

  • FIRE! press 7.

  • How did you?!

  • if you live in the uk and need glycerol, or even KMnO4 then boots sell them both, the chemists boots that is. marketed under the medicines isle

  • how is this from batteries?

  • oh its a hypergoalic reaction

  • What's glicerine and what's potasium permanganate? They sound like exotic chemicals, that you won't find at Home Depot.

  • @BankaiIchigo12345 glicerine is just like sugar you can buy it from your super market and potasium permanganate you can buy from a chemical supplier you can just lite it with a liter but

  • You can ignite it with a magnesium ribon you light with a torch or any hot chemical reaction like potassium permenganate + glycerine.

  • Cooooohooohoool!!!

  • violent^^

  • Wats in da bottle

  • Glycerine from Tesco. You will find it in the baking section.

  • Can you ignite the mix with a fuse or with and type of heat or does it have to be glycerol

  • Damn... all house-hold ingredients for me.... except the aluminium. and iron oxide. I'm going to check out the KMNO4 fuse for giggles.

  • Hm... note to self: Batteries with thermite make great explosive power.

  • hope that blinded u

  • No way! that is so easy! everyone else is saying to use magnesium with a blow torch or sparklers. this is way better!

  • lol the background noise sounds like it came straight from the last track on the album Undertow by Tool

  • i jumped LOLOLOL

  • 1 frame a day.

  • is it possible to light thermite with a sparkler?

  • I would have thought so but never tried.

  • @alandrumo I was able to get thermite to ignite with a california-safe sparkler . My thermite was home made all the way and was likely more difficult to start then thermite made from better milled and more pure materials.

  • @AgentToast2 I have tried using a sparkler to ignite thermite and it does work.

  • Comment removed

  • @AgentToast2 Yeah it was, there is sufficient heat. I only have one video on my channel and we used a sparkler as our fuse to ignite the thermite in the microwave.

  • @AgentToast2 Yep. It's the Best way in my Opinion.

  • @AgentToast2 yeah sparkler will work but glicerine plus KMnO4 is better.

  • @AgentToast2 YES

  • @AgentToast2 yes, it does light the thermite. /watch?v=FXc6-uXslHM&feature=related

  • @AgentToast2 Sparklers are made of thermite.

  • @benschierywashere sparklers aren't made of thermite, they are made of magnesium which is one of the only things with enough energy to ignite a thermite reaction.

  • @AgentToast2 yes thats what a sparkler is...the tip is a magnesium compound to ignite it and the silver compound is a glue mixed with thermite

  • @AgentToast2 yer i do it heaps

  • @AgentToast2 a sparkler is thermite

  • so where do the batteries come into all of this?...

  • They are in the thermite. Just felt like sticking them in there for the sake of it as I had them handy when weighing the ingredients.

If I remember right you can hear one pop when the thermite goes off.

  • were the heck do you get potassium permanganate or make

  • ebay

  • do i hear a goat? baaaahahaaa!!

  • Yeah but I bet you dont want to know why it was crying like that :D

  • Just read the more info box, It was glycerine.

  • What was that liquid?

  • is a batteries liquid

  • this is why bumpkins should skip chemistry class.

  • very beautiful. .. !

I see many videos where you do these experiments, but not where I found the ingredients?

  • Glycerine/ glycerol from Tesco for making cakes. All the rest came from Ebay. Rust is a pigment for making paint etc. Potassium permanaganate I use for my fish as an anti-fungal treatment (It WILL stain your fingers, be carefull).

Take note, fine aluminium will react much more violently and brightly compared to iron oxide if they somehow get mixed correctly with potassium permanganate and ignited.

  • Thanks,

will try to do something and put a video. :-)

  • man I loved this vid! 5/5 and thats for saying where to find potassium permanaganate

  • Cool did you work in the world trade towers?

  • Nah, I live in Scotland. The commute takes too long.

  • wow it exploded, you may have used magnesium not aluminum

  • I did use Aluminium. It reacted fast as it was in a warm house and the Aluminium its self was very very fine(atomised).

The grey powder between the potassium permanganate and the thermite mixture( Al and Fe2O3) was a mix of KMnO4 and Al as I found this easier to ignite.

  • Cool

but you did't mix Al with Fe2O3 !!
