Concerning this particular choice of intro to this song, it was probably Roddy's choice or at the very least highly inspired by him, considering the subject of the song that they're referencing here. They're known for letting Roddy cleverly slip in innuendo pertaining to his sexuality; he is a huge part of this band's style, writing and sound. Mike ad-libbed during the beginning of this song in particular, "We Care a Lot" and the end of "Epic" almost always. He did it in Bungle as well.
from what i read on wikipidia he said he usally does this whe n the crowd suks hehe so i be t he loved this song, by the way i remember him singin madona newkids on block and many more got one where at the end of the real thing he goes into 911 is a joke its awsome he is one of a kind p diddy heheh that neame is just funny
@DarkoBrownstone I'm kinda surprised they haven't already, or rather that Rhino hasn't. There are so many redundant Faith No More compilations and 'best of's, with mostly the same tracks, at least a covers-themed one would be something different. To my knowledge there are at least ten studio-recorded covers they made when they were originally together and loads of soundboard quality live covers.
@skinf Why? Why would he have been sarcastic about the lyrics? The song is saying Fuck You to people who think being gay is bad. The song is saying that it IS okay to be gay, something Roddy Bottum can agree with.
@uiruu Haha, exactly! I couldn't agree with you more- this dickhead clearly has no idea what the song is about and ultimately what he's talking about. Patton sings it with conviction too, it's awesome
@skinf Do you know what the "fuck you" lyrics are actually about if you've bothered to listen to the whole song? It's a pisstake of people who are homophobic. Do you really think Patton would be taking the piss out of the lyrics of an anti gay song especially considering the keyboard player of FNM is openly gay? What you don't realise is that Lilly Allen has a similar sense of humour in her music as Mike Patton does and he obviously respects her as an artist
@turdonmylips Yeah, Faith No More have never taken the piss out of pop stars, Live Aid was supposedly all about pop stars and celebrities feeding Africa. Faith No More would never of written a song taking the piss out of something like that...
@vbeek2002 Seriously! FNM is a great band--one of the most influential around and a personal favorite--and since I live in the ATL right now, I would love it if they came here.
I doubt it will happen, though. It looks like they're doing mostly European cities and a couple of major US cities.
You really can't blame them: audiences in the US are notoriously douche-y, and European fans are always so appreciative.

@ska2808 - Am I the only one who thinks that Mike Patton isn't worthy of covering early Faith No More songs? This cover is an embarrassment. it's easy to sing Chuck songs, but no.... let's make a bunch of vocal noise.... you'll always be an annoying clown Mike.
It's a matter of opinion which vocalist you think is better, but Mike Patton was the most prominent Faith No More frontman - and the other members wouldn't get rid of Chuck for no reason!
I quite like Introduce Yourself, but I think their best albums were made with Patton. It doesn't hold a candle to Angel Dust, if you ask me.
Oh man, fuckin awesome, i found myself starting to take it for granted they were back, then shit my pants thinkin after this tour they would be gone. I hope we have many more years of faith, its about time some decent fuckin music was pumped into this shit pile of vomit thats in the charts now, i'm even holding back from spawning my own tiny versions of myself from fear they would turn out gay fuck nodes fueled by generic fuckin brit pop. Eat Patton Oasis, then shit out some real music!
remember back in the 90swhen he was singin envogue and many more he ever made up one he started this song saying the word of the day is fuck and made an awsome interductionto this song hes awsome
Of the 'ad libs', it's great to see them playing live just like the FNM of old, where they'd erratically cut between their own songs and covers without missing a beat, mostly because they get a little bored just playing the same old songs day in and day out for months or years at a time.
