This 100 mpg figure is calculated over the first 60 miles, of which 40 miles are calculated as driven by the electric motor. So they just add the gasoline in that is consumed during the last 20 miles, ignoring the energy you need to drive the vehicle of the first 40 electric miles. If this is how cars are engineered in the US and A, hahahaha
