@Bluebirdsims@TheOpenMinded12460 I think it was used again in after the September, 11 terrorist attacks because, in on February, 26, 1993, a van bomb killed 18 people and injured many. The attack was supposed to topple the Twin Towers but, it failed. The Towers soon got repaired.
@ShaDeed329@TheOpenMinded12460 They put it back on after the 9/11 terror attacks because, on February,26,1993 a van bomb drove into The South Tower's storage basement and it detonated. The attempt was to topple The South Tower over on The North Tower. Thousands were injured and 28 were killed.
I miss these IDs, especially this one. I don't much care for the modern ones ("Welcome Home," "Start Here", etc.) that almost look like mini-promos. Keep it short and official-sounding/looking.
The Detroit CBS affiliate at the time (WJBK 2, which is now WWJ-TV 62) used a voiceover variation of this same ID during local commercial & news break cutaways from the network. They'd play it with the same music signature but instead you'd hear, "This is CBS, on TV 2".
Well, no shit, Sherlock.

I remember this clearly from my childhood. This was the final "This Is CBS" ID ever made, correct?

It's possible the logo was used again for the network's 75th anniversary, the anniversary was in I think 2003.

I clearly remember seeing this logo back in 2001.
GDelva2003 2 years ago
Okay how could you see this in 2001 and if this didn't come out in '01?
ShaDeed329 2 years ago
trust me I saw this circa 2001 after the price is right. they would have a brief period of news and then this logo would show up

@TheOpenminded12460 The official death toll was actually 6, and over one thousand injured.

@TheOpenminded12460 well that makes sense because I saw this logo in 2001.

Yeah, I remember this because my grandmother watched the soaps every single day. I'd come home from school and she would STILL be watching them.

I wish CBS would keep using this logo theme on all of their CBS logos! Especially on a future CBS Television Distribution logo.

who was the announcer back then for the cbs plugs

I don't know who it was but I am thinking it was Alan Berns.

I first saw this on KREM-2 in Spokane, then on 10-11 in Lincoln, NE.

This was the best CBS ID in the 1990's. The ones after this one were incredible lame.

That must be the legendary CBS Bill Whitman Voice.

Though I've never seen this on TV, seeing it here reminds me of the CBS 2 news anchors in my local area (Chicago) at the time.

WADL also had this bumper when airing a program not picked up by channel 2, only the V/O said "On 38"
someguy23475 4 years ago
Yes, that's right! Does WADL still replay encore broadcasts of Fox 2 news or the news from the other local stations?
radamail 4 years ago
No. They haven't done that in over ten years.
someguy23475 4 years ago
I used to be afraid of the CBS eye logo when I was little.
pastdweller 4 years ago
Why was that? Its not like the Viacom V of Doom; it doesn't shoot forward at light speed.
barber747 4 years ago
I'm intrigued by it now, but it used to creep me out.

OMG..I saw them actually make that ID at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street in New York City when I worked there!

How exactly did they create it?
