Hey i got a question. Before watching this i was thinking about making it out of some thin wood from Home Depot. i plan on making mines a little bigger than yours. Do you think thats a good idea or is styrofoam best option?
Depends on your skill and the level of detail you want to have in the end.
Most of the wooden ones I have seen were rather blocky and rectangular, with only the most basic shape, no display and a stick or box for a grip/trigger. Guess its far harder to work that out with wood.
The weight might end up beeing an issue too, even if you use thin wood.
Also depends a bit on whether you use thick cables or not. (Cause you will end up using ~2-3m, which may shift the center of gravity quite a bit)
No I think that´s strange that you enjoy doing this art activities. Because most of the artist don`t understand physics, and people who are good at physics don`t like doing art.
is there any where i can buy the replica of the X - gun ?

@TheCelestialBeings About a week, with a couple hours every day for:
- Making up a usable scale for the parts based on some manga pages
- Getting materials (styrofoam from a washing machine packaging, some old cable remainders, basicly trash XD)
- Cutting out the parts (to fit each other like puzzle pieces) & cleaning up the mess (later one was the hard part)
- Putting it together (toothpicks & glue, yay!)
- Adding the paper-mâché
- Spraypainting

Nah, I'm a physics student with way to much time during semester break, after the last exam has been written.
(Sucked at art back in school.)

that´s strange

Oh , maybe I missunderstood you.
The original weapon images are from a manga, I just made this 3D "copy" (replica) based on the drawings.

Ty,
Guess I have to leave it at looks.
Well, at least as long as they don't make any Higgs boson related breakthroughs at the LHC, or some DARPA guys decide to share confidential files...
Gravitational theory is a bitch. XD
