Prop 8 aims to take away people constitutional rights, one being pursuit of happiness. Fuck the Churches, they should keep their dogmatic, narrow minded beliefs to them selves. Gay people don't want special rights, they want EQUAL rights.

According to your Bible, having slaves is ok, (Leviticus 25:44-46) and (Exodus 21:7-11). Or I should be allowed to bash babies heads in with rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). I think it's funny how Bible thumpers take what they want from the Bible.

To answer the divorce question, I would want to ban divorce. I find it lame that a couple can't be committed and they should have never married in the first place. Couples should never have the attitude of "if they make it" They need to know for sure they WILL make it. Marriage should be stay until death.

Sorry I voted yes on 8. I feel the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman. Civil Unions are fine and gay couples can do that. It does affect my community because of the churches. The morals behind it is wrong or a sin. I do know gay people and yes I have a relative who was married. I just turn annoyed how gays that I know ask for "special treatment" all the time when they already have rights. The family code shows equal rights for civil unions.

Hi Ryan,

I live in Arizona, there's a similar vote going on here too - I'll be voting against the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. WHY people think that allowing gay marriages somehow affects their straight marriage is baffling.

P.S. Since I'm not able to vote in the CA election, I donated money to the cause! Hopefully your Prop 8 will fail miserably. :)

during my wedding ceremony yesterday, my brother -- who performed the ceremony -- added the following:

"we are lucky to live in a state that currently recognizes marriage for what it is -- a union between two people who love each other."

I'm for gay marriages. I seriously can't believe that a country which is supposed to be the most free in the world, bans people from marrying members of the same sex. I've been to a gay marriage, and can say it was epic. The church is a corrupt monopolising organisation. They say gay marriage is not natural. Yeah, but a man multiplying bread and fish is? I will be voting No on 8, this November 4th. I am not gay, but I think that gay people have just as much right to a regular life as anyone. I work at a Community College in Southern California and many of the professors are gay. Recently one married her partner which is great for them and really has no bearing on my life. I am happy for them, they deserve to be legally joined together. And that's the whole point. Live and let Live.

Hi Ryan hope you're ok. I am a 'straight' female with loads of 'gay' friends both male and female, singles and couples. In my opinion, it is the life-long commitment to one an other that is important. I don't agree with marriage at all because I don't need a piece of paper to tell me to stay faithful and why should my feelings for my partner make beaurocrats money. By all means make it public knowledge, put a notice in a newspaper or something, even write up a contract with each other. Take care

Growing up in San Francisco, a friend of mine in high school came out in his Sophmore year, making him the first gay person I've known. As a Roman Catholic, I do not say, "Oh, gay marriage is a sin and if all gays have the right to marry, all gay men will get pregnant and it will cause a black hole." No, because people, Christians mostly, would say things to scare people, naive ones in particular and do not think for themselves, into things that aren't true. In conclusion, ban Prop 8.
