Actually, the bellhousing is basically the same as the V6 SHO engines. It would require fabricating new mounts and tweaking various other junk, but it CAN and HAS been done. In fact, NESHO has recently started converting V8s to MTX layout, although their MTX conversion page is blank... For videos of a couple REAL V8 MTX SHOs in action, search "V8 MTX SHO" and it will be the first result. The second result is an in-car video of one of the conversions.
dude trust me.. i looked into it... theres no way to put a 5 speed on a v8 sho.... number 1.. you would need to change the motor mounts... number 2... change the sub frame to add the 5speed , if you could find a company to add a 5 speed to it..... and finnaly.. this isnt a 5 speed sho vid.. i know i had one and i know how to foot the peddel to make it run like that... show a vid of the motor clutch and 3rd leg

no no noo.. the Second Generation dropped the 4 cylinder model Taurus and Dropped the Manual Transmission. Second Generation is years 1992-1995, then 3rd Generation is just a different body style. same things apply.
and the Tranny is not an AOD-E it's in the AXOD family. The SHO acctually has an AX4N for the 1996-1999 SHO models...
Actually the manual option was dropped after 1995 with the advent of the Gen III, however the transmissions in the SHO and the MT-5, while both 5-speeds, were different.
i wouldnt say that the v8 sho was slow. in its day it was a highway killer. its not built for running 1/2 mile, its 1st gear and final drive are just too long. but that doesnt mean you can go around saying it sucks when you compare it to a completely different class of car. you might want to educate yourself before going off on tangents half cocked. might learn something.
but they are still responsible for deciding to use it since they endorse. they may not actually physically build it but they considered it acceptable.

HOWEVER... The MTX from the previous years is an almost direct bolt up to the engine (or so I've heard), but the Mazda 6 will require a mounting plate. If you want the most power to the wheels though, the Mazda 6 is the way to go.

The Mazda that the tranny comes from is a Mazda 6. The Mazda 6 has the Duratec 3.0L in it, which is exactly the same bellhouse as the SHO V8, so it's a very easy swap.
