  • 2006 version is rotten. The original is a masterpiece. it's got great suspense and surprises. it's also quite creative and artietic at times.

  • I always thought they should remake the original Black Christmas but keep the 70's setting, not a big fan of Black Xmas, a bit too generic remake of a classic film

  • i like this idea

  • Good review Jill, just curious- what country is that accent of yours from?

  • @Lightwish01 I'm a cosmopolitan, therefore my accent is a hodgepodge of different influences. ;)

  • Am I the only video response??

  • @cauwel3 So far yes. You are my Robert Paulson, hahaha (sorry, that only makes sense if you're a Fight Club nerd like me).

Anyway, I may end up doing Friday the 13th first since the 13th of this month falls on a Friday... but thank you for your support. I'll put up our Halloween reviews soon enough. ;)

  • @TheJillkill Ok seen Fightclub not familiar with characters. The kids seem to love it

  • The original Black Christmas is hands down one of the best/most atmospheric horror movies of all time. The remake was garbage; however other remakes are descent. I wnjoy comparing and contrasting them as well, keep em coming!

  • i could listen to jills voice all day

  • GReat idea! Do it! :)

I saw the original Black Christmas (which, by the way was originally released as Silent Night, Evil Night) in a drive-in when it was first released in New Hampshire in the middle of the woods in the middle of nowhere. It scared the crap out of me. I love the fact that you never know who or what is the killer. Everyone these days seem to need an ending that ties everything up in a bow. I can see how this was inspiration to other horror filmakers. An underappreciated gem! :)

  • ~Hi Jill....I been wanting to see the original Black Christmas & I wont bother with the remake~

~My Favourite X-Mas Horror movie will have to be Gremlins even though it wasnt scary~

~I havent seen Silent Night Deadly Night yet either~

  • I'd love to see a FRIDAY THE 13TH original/remake review. And January 13th falls on Friday. PERFECT!

  • @TomMSTie1138 Oh wow, looks like I'm moving that up on the review queue! :)

  • @TheJillkill Thank you, I'll subscribe in anticipation of the review.

  • I really loved the original, the eye in the door made me crap my pants!

  • could you also do a review for Dawn of the dead (1978) and (2004)

my fav x-mas horror is Silent Night, Deadly Night

  • The latest issue of Horrorhound talks about originals and remakes.

  • Bob Clark who directed the original black Christmas also directed a Christmas story.

  • @KNUKLES54X Isn't that crazy, I forgot to mention that! That man built his career on Christmas! ;)

  • @KNUKLES54X haha I just found that out , interesting.

  • i saw both the original and the remake and i prefer the original by far,the original also had a great cast especially john saxon who i am a huge fan of.it's not that the 70s horror films are slow it's that there paced.everything is building up.70s horror when done right have style and the setttings, the mood and the music are very scary and creepy.a lot of today's horror movies move to fast because there trying so hard to shock you.

  • @MultiJman69 i can really agree with that 100% but horror movies out of state are always scarier than american horror movie today, especially cult horror like phantasm, brainscan, sleepaway camp, and the august underground trilogy.

  • Oh Oh Shit! Merry Christmas Jill

  • You're positively sparkling Jill!

Personally, I think Black Christmas has qualities, but over all slow paced and a bit boring.

Haven't bothered with the remake yet. 'Don't like remakes!

  • A couple of years ago, I thought I'd buy my teenage sister a darker alternative to the christmas stuff.

So last year, I got her Jack Frost (the killer snowman) as a bit of a joke gift.

Last year I got her the original Black Christmas.

And this year I've got her Silent Night, Deadly Night.

She never actualy watches them though.

Yet she spends each evening watching The Kardashians. Now that is scary!

  • @ChuckyBlackheart Haha, meanwhile I've never seen an episode of the Kardasians or Real Housewives. It's difficult to hang out with groups of other girls when you don't watch that sort of thing... it's sort of like being a guy who doesn't watch sports!

  • @TheJillkill I'm a guy who detests sports and it actually is quite lonely. So I can relate.

Liking things that are out side of the mainstream is both fun and frustrating.

  • love to see your videos.....Merry Christmas

  • My favorite Christmas horror movie is Christmas Evil and I really liked the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween

  • I perfer the 1974 version it had more of a gothic feel to it it's so much more enjoyable then the 2006 remake. Thanks for the video Jill and have a good christmas

  • The classic vs. remake idea sounds awesome! Do it! :D

  • yes it would be awesome classic vs remake

  • It sounds like a killer idea. I will keep watching to see what takes shape. Great to see you doing videos again. Merry Christmas

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre vs. Horrible remake I'd like to see that

  • you know, that sounds fun, Sure I'll join you.... didn't see the remake of halloween, a friend of mine told me about it.

By the way Margo Kidder was so freaking cute back then, sigh. Can make an alien from another planet fall in love with them.

Favorite christmas horror film..... no brainer...... GREMLINS! It's perfect anti consumerism film gears to teasing little children into buying a lot of crap and then FRIGHTENING THEM.

  • JillKill - if you haven't check out: piperdork - she's another cool horror chick :D

  • Tales from the crypt: And all through the House (1989) - i need to start doing some xmas horror vids myself!! Merry Xmas JillKill :))

  • just rewatched Bob Clark's classic black Christmas 2 days ago...underrated and sometimes looked over gem. Abit slow but not boring...a must see or own for any true horror fan!

  • I'm a fan of Christmas Evil/You Better Watch Out. It's the kind of holiday movie Travis Bickle would enjoy.

  • @kentuckycunctator Ha, that's one hell of a teaser! Haven't seen Xmas Evil, but I'm reviewing New Year's Evil for NYE if I have the time. ;)

  • Welcome back darkling ;) Have a happy black xxxmas.

  • the 2006 black Christmas seemed to stray too far from the original for my taste. Anyway Miss Jill, hope you have merry Christmas. P.S Have you seen the Prometheus trailer. I have and im very excited cause im a huge Alien fan :)

  • @thedormantone47 I have seen the Prometheus trailer! It looks awesome. And you're right, the 2006 version strayed all over the place. :)
