  • I dont get it

  • Have you ever heard of a gay couple that hurt the children they had? I don't. And I know why: because it's much harder to have a baby for gay than for "straight" couples, because while heterosexuals can have "accidents", homosexuals have to go a long way to be able to have a child. You don't hurt somebody you did so much for.

What I'm saying is: Homosexuals spend a lot more time thinking about whether they want a child or not, and that makes them better parents in many cases.

  • There is an irish version which is also quite similar called ´Sinead´s hand´. I have no idea which one came first, but they are both great!

  • Mugge21xx --

    Other way around.

Sinead's Hand was inspired by this one--it even states that in the credits.

  • It was actually copied from Marriage equality Ireland Video Sinead's Hand/

  • Hey frannol, you want to hear about a "broken family"? Talk to my husband. His dear sweet DADDY beat him mercilessly when he was a child! On a daily basis! When his mother tried to leave, DADDY threatened to find and kill his own sons just to spite her! And this was one of those "traditional" marriages that the neo-cons love to trumpet.

Don't you dare say that a Mommy and a Daddy make a perfect family. They do not. Let the gays marry. They might do a better job than the straights have.

  • I agree, these "straights" keep producing us gays!

SO technically people who have a problem with homosexuality should have a problem with heterosexuality as well...it's not like we're popping out all these gay children! :]

  • Awesome video. Does anyone know who made the music for this video..? I love it!

  • "I Don't Blame You" by Cat Power

  • This is wonderful. I'm happy it's already been awarded, and hopefully many more awards will be on the way.

Anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line should ask their grandparents (or great-grandparents) to be candid about the race marriage laws of the 40s and 50s. The bible was used a lot to show that God didn't want people of different races to marry each other. I know this because my grandparents were brave enough to talk about it and admit to me that they were wrong.

  • Fair play to your grandparents! Your analogy is excellant. Just as the laws affecting the civil rights of people in South Africa and Northenr Ireland were wrong, so are these. Yet bigots continue to justify them!

In 20, 30 or 40 years time, will u have to admit to your childrent hat were the new form of the KKK at one point in your life!

  • Fuck bigotry.

  • Most conservatives define "unnatural" as anything that can not lead to procreation. So, they claim, if a sexual act does not lead to procreation it is wrong. However, many of them would have absolutely nothing to say about a woman having sex with a man after menopause... which can not lead to procreation.

  • A right to a mommy and dad - In which legal document did you read this?

Unnatural - How are you qualifying this?

How are you measuring the health of a society?

  • Do you also get guidance from Harry Potter?

  • You are retarded. Children obviously require a parent of both sexes to be conceived, but you do realize that there are many children that are raised with single parents. Also homosexuality occurs naturally in nature. Saying they have a right to a mother and father means they have a choice, you would not be giving them a choice if you only allow them to have a mother and father. You should probably shut the fuck up.

  • Please make it captioned for millions of Deaf/HH people. More Accessible more power to you. Check for free Internet subtitle website. thanks!

  • HUH???? That sentence make zero sense, lol!!

  • well done.

  • This is BEAUTIFUL, but I do believe that I have seen an extermely similar video from Ireland.

  • Yes, it is quite possibe you've seen cover version of it made by Marriage Equality just recently - they run the campaign for same-sex marriage in Ireland (the vid is called 'Sinead's Hand (in marriage)' ) It's shot-for-shot, nicely done, with great music by Lisa Hannigan. Both videos are good as they are for a good cause! :)

  • This is fucking amazing. I hope it actually gets people to understand.

  • I belive "rights" should be called rights if they are literally rights not something given to people only if they meet certain outrageous qualifications. Which is more like a priveledge since rights shouldnt be able to be taken away for mild things like sexuality.

  • EXCELLENT

  • this needs to be brought to America's television stations.

  • this is a pretty powerful message. i hope people can watch it and kinda figure out how we see things.

  • Dibs on Megan's other body parts.

  • You think gay and lesbian marriage is preferential treatment?

They have the same rights as straight couples, they aren't adding any rights, they are simply making them recognized by law.

  • Were diffrent because we want rights you have as a straight person? Granted, there are times when gay people ARE seprate, but, things like marriage and being able to adopt, are rights you have, that we don't because of whom we love. Its no one's business who wants tp get married but those who are creating the union.

  • Pretty powerful.

  • this should be on television.

some positive media brainwashing could do this society some good.

  • I think the word you were looking for there mate was probably perspective. - Mossa Nova.

  • The song is "I don't blame you" by Cat Power

  • love it. Who sings that song?

  • Very therapeutic to watch today after the the hypocrisy witnessed yesterday in California. Let's hope we see this on TV when the next campaign is in full swing.

  • Do you know what song this is?

  • fantastic video

    two thumbs up

i only wish more people would see this

  • great video!

  • Love it!

  • If any of you haters on here can give me one NON RELIGIOUS REASON why gay marriage should not be allowed, please do it. We have a seperation of church and state in this country and I would liek for you to keep your RELIGIOUS VIEW out of my STATE rights. Thank you.

  • This is wonderful, thank you for sharing.

  • I love this video. Made me feel good to know people fight.

  • california family code 297.5

    (a) Registered domestic partners shall have the same rights,

protections, and benefits, and shall be subject to the same

responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law, whether they

derive from statutes, administrative regulations, court rules,

government policies, common law, or any other provisions or sources

of law, as are granted to and imposed upon spouses.

  • So what's the problem with them being "spouses" instead of "domestic partners"?

  • This is amazing...

  • Who are you to say what God thinks?

  • legalized homosexual marriage would not mean a church has to marry homosexuals. it means the state would be required to give them the same status that heterosexual couples get (including being able to say they are married). as there is a separation of church and state, the state cannot force churches to comply and churches should not influence the state's decision in this matter.

  • Way before the bible was written, a man named Plato wrote "[homosexuality] is regarded as shameful by barbarians and by those who live under despotic governments just as philosophy is regarded as shameful by them, because it is apparently not in the interest of such rulers to have great ideas engendered in their subjects, or powerful friendships or passionate love-all of which homosexuality is particularly apt to produce."

  • So you just stop with that verse in Leviticus? Hypocrite. Read the rest of it...

  • No, hypocrite... I'm not trying to insinuate anything other than ignorant people like yourself don't practice what you preach. Your flesh will burn as much as mine in hell. Is that clear enough for you? Dumbass.

  • By the way, you can spend the rest of your natural born days quoting scriptures... it makes no difference to me. You Christian fundamentalist are hypocrites and there is NO DIFFERENCE in you and fundamentalist MUSLIMS. Trying to force YOUR beliefs on the rest of the planet isn't going to work.

  • well said

  • If we're listing Leviticus, you may want to re-read Lev 20:10 and Lev 4:22 - Why is Jim Bakker still alive, and did Ted Haggard properly sacrifice his goat?

  • The song playing is so pretty...what is it?

  • Wow, this made me cry.

If I were in Cali, I would vote no.

  • I honestly don't think its our business if two people love each other if they are homosexual. It seems like a problem for them...as far as kids knowing about it, I want to know how many 12 year olds don't know about gay people already. There is gay culture everywhere, kids aren't safe anyways once they become teens, if you make it less controversial the naive will not be attracted to ideology solely based on the fact that "my mom and dad said its bad so it mustn't be". Good piece of video

  • I don't think it's the video that misunderstands anything. I think it's you that misunderstands marriage.

  • No, you fundamentally misunderstand that a "redefinition" is only necessary in regards to your definition. Not the legal definition. what opponents of homosexual marriage fail to realize is that when an amendment to the Constitution is necessary in order to ban gay marriage, the only redefinition being requested is that of those attempting the Amendment. The rest of us are clearly using a completely different definition and have been for some time.

  • very powerful piece... thank you for highlighting the inherent unfairness of these anti-gay measures!

  • NO ON PROPOSITION 8!

  • that is the whole point. all he wants is to marry the love of his life. but in order to do that, he has to seek approval from everyone around him. that is the same issue gay men and women are being put through now - with Prop 8, they can't stay married even.

  • Why would you have said no?

  • Excelente!!!.

  • Thank you.

  • OK you got me crying now! Great piece- thank you.

  • Such a strong piece. I love it.

  • Very powerful stuff, totally worthy of its award. It made me tear up a bit, actually...

  • That is a good one! My husband and I are both voting NO on Prop 8 here in CA!

  • Great ad, and props for the excellent music as well ("I Don't Blame You" by Cat Power)

  • This is wonderful and so poignant. If only we saw this on TV as often as all the political ads lately.

  • Powerful. Unexpected ending.

  • Beautiful. Even though I will gladly vote NO on 8 in California, fundamental rights should not be up to a vote.

  • more gay marriage ad on my homepage!!!!!!

  • Great commercial. Really gets the point across!!

  • marriage shouldn't be permitted, sanctioned, outlawed, taxed, legalized, or otherwise controlled by government. marriage is a private affair between two people.

married people should have no different rights than those of the individuals invloved. i don't have to accept or approve of your marriage and you don't have to accept or approve of mine.

its time to get the government out of marriage, out of bedrooms, out of churches, out of our private lives.

  • while I agree with you, there is a need for legal recognotion of the union for medical and property rights issues

  • omg, that is so sad...

This is such a great point..I mean, why cant you just marry whoever you want?

  • at first i didnt get itt

but then i was lk holy shit

    this is fucking great

    :]

  • Very nice.

  • this is amazing

  • GREAT video, very well done, and very poignant. Thanks for sharing this!

  • Very,very,very cool.

  • Very, very cool. Now if they'd make a PSA about how to be responsible and caring spouses, that would be even better given the current divorce rate and children of divorce stand a higher chance of divorce in their own marriage.

  • This was absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Beautiful!

  • what a great video.

  • This video is so true. lol

Lets go past society's "ethics" and "morals" for a minute and consider the right to pursue happiness.

I mean, it'snot like gay marriage would violate Brittaney Spear's 52-hour-just-for-fun marriage right?

Our orphanages need more children right?

And gay couple will only produce gay children just like straight couples only produce straight children am I right?

  • By the way...for those of you that didn't get it....that was sarcasm.

  • wow, this is awesome!

  • great vid, thanks!

  • This was a beautiful, beautiful video. Thank you.

  • Some countries need to graduate the stone-age. Really, is the concept of human equality so alien? Archaic America might as well be referred to as The Fourth Reich.

  • Remarkable product. I really like it.

  • harvester76: (Pt.2) I responded to each of your posts replying to my first comment, but have a couple of things to add. Your posts are EVIDENCE that you are whining continually. If you do wish to marry a woman, you have all the legal rights & protections of marriage & have millions of women to choose from, & yet that is not enough for you. You want to make sure that no one gets the exact same rights you have! Seems pretty selfish. Ungrateful too.

  • harvester76: Whether it's projecting or hypocrisy or both, right-wingers are quick to accuse liberals of name-calling at the very moment they are name-calling themselves! YOU call people "deviant" & say that gay people are not normal people.

  • i thought it really was awsomely done

    and great song too

  • That was very good!

  • bravo!

  • That's a very great video.

  • touching.

  • nice ting

  • awesome

  • Gay World? How does fighting for the right to get married lead to world domination? You're confusing the gays with another group of people. Do you think we get together on Sunday afternoons, put on a Madonna remix cd, and discuss forcing our beliefs upon the masses and the formation of new laws to do so? Forcing beliefs upon a people and forming new laws to keep it that way is the job of someone. Hint: it's not the gays. We want a thing called equal rights.

  • Lmao @ the Madonna remix CD.

I like the video. I can only hope equal rights will be a part of our future.

  • That makes no sense whatsoever. I am from planet earth, what planet are you from?

  • tired....

  • I personally think it's a BRILLIANT video. It makes it's point and I think it was a very good idea.

  • The government should get out of the "marriage" business altogether -- marriage is a religious function. The government should only issue "civil union" licenses, and those wanting marriage should take thier license to their favorite church or AA Chapter and do their own nuptuals away from government interference.

  • i sort of agree with you. It's not so much religious anymore, either. I don't feel like we need written permission from the government to love someone, either.

  • not so much permition, but a legal reconigition of a legal contract between 2 people

  • Tony's Gay World = In His Own Mind.

It's a fact that homophobes are latent homosexuals who feel frustration, fear and guilt over these feelings, so they lash out in anger at other gays. They are guided and consumed by fear, and they live their pathetic little lives as bullying-cowards. Hey, it's a fact.

  • What a great strategy - whoever says nothing is on your side and whoever says anything against you - is actually you.

  • I'll bet you are (rolling balls)

  • Clearly you've gotten them in a serious twist based on some kind of bizarre paranoia about gays taking over the world. I'm not sure how the right to married marry = world domination exactly, but I'm sure it makes sense in your irrational, xenophobic world.

  • After we give you the right to saem sex marriage soon you'll be asking for the right to marry the opposite gender as well - yechhh!!

  • I'm personally hoping that we can eventually make heterosexuality a criminal offense punishable by death. (rolling eyes)

  • No, we won't stop until we've destroyed marriage everywhere, for everyone, until we've made having a family illegal...whuh-ha-ha.

It's all part of the evil Homosexual Agenda-- to destroy your marriage by getting married. Makes sense, doesn't it?

    Oh, wait, it doesn't?

  • Yes it does make sense.

The Homosexual Agenda = Gay World.

  • Totally. Except for the straight majority...

  • If you dont want to ask for the right - how come you're asking non-stop??

  • Um, that's the whole point-- we have to keep asking because equal treatment under the law for our families is being denied to us. We will gladly stop asking once we get our equal rights, got it?

  • What does that even mean?

  • The "Oh yeah you'll stop there huh?" that is.

  • Since according to you we choose to whom we are attracted, when did you decide to stop desiring men & to be attracted to women? Or have you made that choice yet? The government IS responsible for legal, civil marriage & the benefits that go with it. They aren't responsible for you being born male. If the government is going to punish mutually consenting adults for who they love or how they love, how about they ban marriage for Kristian bigots & selfish, whiny, straight guys?

  • "Please leave us alone." That sounds pretty whiny to me, considering there are TENS OF MILLIONS of women that you can legally marry, and yet you want to punish your fellow Americans by preventing them from marrying ANYONE. You feel threatened unless EVERYONE in this country is just like you.

  • Since when do any of those scenarios have anything to do with the situation at hand? You're changing the subject and trying to be clever, but you're really only coming off as whiny.

  • foolishness. Utter foolishness. People did that, do that and still you demonize gay marriage. Unbe-fucking-lievable. Marrying two women is illegal, or at least frowned upon greatly. You must be a certain age to get married. Marriage is consentual, so the dog might have trouble saying, "I do."

  • Well, now we know you enough to know you are straight. and perhaps a bigot.

  • There you go again, comparing a loving consenual relationship to child abuse, animal cruelty, etc. I've heard it all. Some people have gone so far as to compare it to slavery, drug abuse, and mass murder. Next you're going to say LGBT people are going to take over the world with hypno-rays or some science fiction nonsense, right?

  • Great video.

  • A wonderful video making a lovely, very clear point. (Though the music surprised me - Cat Power's "I Don't Blame You". Gorgeous song, didn't expect to hear that.)

  • Makes me sad that this is what we have come to today. Great statement, but will it open peoples eyes?

  • AWESOME!!! Thank you!!!

  • I posted this video on myspace.com

  • I loved it. People should send a link to this video to everyone they know.

  • This hones in on the utter insanity of our government to place moral and religious arguments on the people of this nation. We can't continue to justify making admendments that will limit the freedoms of the citizens of the United States of America by using a religious book. This is not a theocracy, this is a nation of laws FOR THE PEOPLE as well as by the people. It's a wonderfully understated film that makes a very profound statement.

  • great!

  • I love it! Thank you for sharing this.

  • it does. its a great ad. it shows how ridiculous it is to have other people decide who your allowed to marry, whether they're the same sex as you or not.

  • I think the ad makes a great point.
