Thanks a lot, it's the best video on Snow Leopard out there. I really liked how in HD, I could see everything clearly. One thing I am still unclear about Snow Leopard is the whole 64 bit thing. I have read on the Internet something about a 32 bit kernel and you have to hold the 6-4 keys on start-up to get 64 bit. Don't exactly understand that whole thing. My question is on Quick Time, can you record YouTube videos and other videos with it? That is a major function I would like.
You mean, create a movie with your iSight? Yup! And the machine will only boot into 64-bit kernel on a system with 64-bit EFI, which ONLY the XSERVE has. Apple hasn't distributed a 64-bit EFI to any other machine...... yet. Any machine with a C2D or better can run that EFI.
I'll be a little more clear. I meant to ask if you can record streaming video, like YouTube video or something on a news website that has a 5 minute video clip. I currently use real player downloader, but I wonder if QuickTime X has a similiar function. I do not mean make a YouTube video, I mean take a YouTube video. It is a good function to save videos. Does this make sense?
Really nice video! Professional and informative. I rated 5 stars because this is probably the best video I've seen out of all my subscriptions this week (maybe even month). Thanks for showing this to us!
I'm sure. The current shipping date for Snow Leopard disks is August 28, so.... I don't think Apple would have time to compile another build and seed it in time.
Stupid YT not posting my comment before, but great video Josh, very comprehensive. Sucks that Quicktime X doesn't allow for export, but supposedly Q7 will be on the SL disc. Did you lose any of your windows partitions when you installed it?
Ya, Sometime I'll revisit my .dmg and install QT7 alongside with X. I loooovvveee Perian too much :D And my Windows partitions were untouched. Heck, even my NTFS3G driver still works just fine!
Oops! Today Apple updated its home page with the Snow Leopard release date!!!!
Great news!!!!!
28th August is coming!!!!!
:DDDDD
Never mind asking your friend LOL!
Bye!!!!! :D

Welcome screen is the same as Leopard.
Strange. It should change before final version is released.
28th August without any advertising? Strange, as well.
Snow Leopard an unnoticed OS? I don't think so.
What does your friend know about readyness or release timeframe?
Retail box has a snow leopard on it or is it the pink one with the usual big X?
Many mysteries about it...
I can't wait for it! :D

Cool, even thought snow leopard isn't a really big update, but its something, worth the $30 when it comes out!

After a few days of use, the small tweaks and speed become invaluable. For $30 it's a steal. Apple did the right thing.

Ok. The question now is: are we sure August 28 is the final shipping date?! XD

Considering it was accidentally posted on Apple's site I'm sure we can be certain xD

Ok, I'm going to burn my 10a432 .dmg tomorrow on DVD-DL then, hoping it's all true! Meanwhile, waiting for my MBP 15" 2.8Ghz :Q__

When you install snow leopard, do you have to reinstall all of your apps from leopard?
Madkillr05 2 years ago
Nope, it was a seamless transition. All my data stayed the same :D
