There's nothing up there worth risking your life for. She was never intended to be climbed by visitors. She's a statue, not a stairmaster. Weiner has major problems with perspective if he looks at the Statue of Liberty and calls a STAIRCASE iconic.

yes i agree with him.. they should re open her crown.... if there are safety concerns.. why not warn the public of this.. and let them then make their own choice and allow them the freedom to choose if they want to 'take the risk' of climbing up the steps to the crown!
cos i for one would love the oppornity to climb up!- i never seen her at all yet... but when i do.. i want to see it from her point of view too!
