I always felt this way. Two good lines that were left out: The obvious "these people" line. And where he describes how his goal is to make enough money to be "alone". So ya he IS an introvert and has no friends nor wants any. He is also a sociopath or ubermench depending on your point of view.
@fiveMIRrOrs Obviously true. If you hate people, then by default you hate yourself, since you are also a person. There's not much difference from one person to the next, it's just that some are capable of facing the truth of what they are, and some aren't. I hate people too. I hate this ridiculous human creature that I inhabit. This life isn't worth a sh*t, but I do enjoy winning and making others feel inferior, and I will keep striving for that until they finally bury me.
@kiddcoder That's one way to see life, but I never have had the capability of understanding what is so great about winning other individuals when it is so clear that humanity's greatness is in our culture. I can't help but to parallel humans into computers: one processing unit is great but useless for anything but simple use. Connect them all, and you're in a whole new league. If information transfer is made and kept easy and accesible for everyone, there might yet be some hope for us monkeys.
@fiveMIRrOrs Our greatness is in our culture? Which part exactly... McDonald's or Wal-Mart? Perhaps it's building Mcmansions that no one can afford? Or is it buying foreign cars since the ones we make here are junk... maybe you're talking about MTV? It's interesting you brought up computers because I think that is one of the few positive things we've created as a society. I wouldn't say it is too positive for humankind though, because eventually they will probably end up replacing us.
@kdc I would define culture as the general communication of society. If we are one day to be "replaced" by synthetics, as I myself would place my money on, they couldn't be defined as a computers any more than they could be as humans. I'd call it evolution.
The beautiful thing about life is that there can never be anything un-natural. It was natural to fight as animals to pass the most suitable genes, but it's natural also to realize that there's no future in being quarreling animals forever.
@Slob0dan It's called misanthropist. Be careful, the more you dislike and hate, the less you love unconditionally. Turn the other cheek, forgive, and love for most people don't know any better.
@Slob0dan spot on!! I think it's a combination of guilty, unexpressed feelings and our natural Darwinian coding. It's like Daniel Plainview has revealed the skeletons in the human closet.
I thought the best scenes were when daniel dealt with the bankers. The acting is super, daniel appears beside himself with contempt. Why are non of those clips posted ?

I was once told that how one describes others is ultimately the way the one sees himself.
I've come to believe that thought is true.
