  • hopin' to find this @ karaoke...Super Tune...

  • This isn't minimalism. How did I end up here? Decent song though.

  • One of the best CC songs Ever! Thanks!

  • Favorite.

  • the song kicks ass, the chik doing the gymnastics kicks ass, amazing what a human can do with there mind set and some positive energy, the song fits, einstien used his mind, he was a genius and this person put there mind to it and rocked the gymanstics world. good video and great song

  • @topsoul181 This song is actually supposed to reference the Philip Glass Opera, as the Counting Crows recorded at his studios. This is their tribute, to their producer friend person. (Mr.Glass)

  • I replayed this like 50x. I don't care what the backdrop is.

  • This song makes me so effing happy every time I hear it. I named it my Happy Song :)

  • @x6GreenDayLover6x yeah it's upbeat, but if you knew the true meaning, what runamuck is talking about, you'd realize there isn't a sadder song in the world

  • Shawn lives 15 minutes away from me and I've met her a few times (:

  • You guys.... its just eistein chillin on the beach as the world begins to dissapear while the worst things come from inside here.... jeez

  • I looked at this because it had the same title as a Philip Glass opera and I heard of it several times over and over looking up things about the Glass opera and was curious of what it was. My brother is playing Devo's "Beautiful World" at the same time and it sounds exactly like it.

  • WHY, WHY, WONT THEY EVER PLAY THIS SONG LIVE, COME ON ADAM, WE ALL GET DEPRESSED AT SOMTIME IN OUR LIFE, MINE IS NOT SEEING YOU DO THIS LIVE, LORIE IN HOUSTON

  • I love this song! You're right, it is really upbeat, ironically so since it has a lot of symbolism of nuclear weaponry....seeing this juxtaposed with Shawn Johnson really made me smile.

    Thanks for posting it!

  • I love the song, but i don't like pictures!

  • I always liked this song, and a while back I happened to meet the drummer (Steve Bowman) at my friend's birthday party. He was "dismissed" from the band for a new direction, so I made sure to tell him how I always get goose bumps when I hear this. It's a hard business and he's a good guy. Not everyone gets to open a show for the Rolling Stones, but he did.

  • @owlcu That is such an awesome story. I envy you.

  • I remember this song was on DGC Rarities. In the liner notes the singer (Duritz?) talks about it not being included on "August" because "Not mopey enough". Too bad, it's a great song.

  • well if it helps any, i think gymnastics is pretty relevant to physics. In fact, a lot of physics books have pictures of gymnastics and track and field to show certain concepts in action.

  • 1st,I thanks for posting the song&I don't have a problem w/your imagery.I'm just sick of the idiotic morons who think it has anything to do with the a-bomb,Ole Al knew what he was helping to develop,a major WMD,didn't think it'd be used in macrame&only hada small part in the bombs development. The song is about his search for the Cosmological Constant,a force that'd counter gravity&prove the universe infinite.Well, sadly he proved there was none, someday it'll all be gone, leaving nothing, sodamnsad

  • I love this song! Damn i could imagine how the video would be if they had made one.

  • wonderfull

  • "about the guilt over designing the atomic bomb."

-Einstein did not develop the atom bomb.

"One more sun comes sliding down the sky" doesn't refer to the atom bomb in my opinion. It's just a metaphor for the sun setting. Which is a metaphor for another day passing. This is supported by later references to "night and day".

"everything he believes in is shattered" refers to Einstein's belief in a cosmological constant. He later called this the "biggest blunder" of his life.

  • @TheRunningamuck cont'd from reply to last comment..make the breakthrough or even have a large part in it, all non morons know Oppenhiemer is credited w/ developing it. You do seem to have an understanding of the song these other morons are missing, don't waste your time telling them about metaphors, 3/4don't know what they are..just leave the idiots with well if he was working on a bomb what did he think they were gonna do with it?Wash windows, thus why would it shatter his beliefs

  • This person posted a wonderful counting crows song. I am a lyricist and I am not offended. leave the person alone and listen to the wonderous song. C&C forever!!

  • @dad2ally Thanks! :)

  • @dad2ally adam is an amazing writer with a unique voice.

what more can you want :-)

  • While this song may *sound* upbeat, the lyrics are actually about the guilt over designing the atomic bomb.

To put it in a little context, I'll quote a few lyrics:

"Einsteins down on the beach staring into the sand

Cause everything he believes in is shattered

What you fear in the night in the day comes to call anyway

    We all get burned as:

One more sun comes sliding down the sky

One more shadow leans against the wall"

It's actually pretty horrific, but it's a great song anyway.

  • yeah, the "upbeat" in the description kinda blew my mind. even when I was 11 or whatever when this hit the radio I knew it was a pretty dark tune.

  • When i saw "happy" and "upbeat" i was a little surprised. My dad showed me this song when i was learning about the atom bomb in 6th grade.

  • @luckylemon-Sowhat,U R smart enough to realize this song is actually the furthest thing from upbeat, which some are even too stupid to, you are still clueless as to what the song is about, thus U R still an idiot.Yes, Einstein did HELP develop the bomb, but he knew what he was getting into-developing a weapon of mass destructiuon to defeat the fascists in Europe and the Imperialists in Japan,he knew it wasn't going to be used to improve macrame-so why'd everything he believe in be shattered?

  • @32Rainking Love this comment.

  • @LastCupOSorrow I'd love to know which one, I made a lot, but i figure it's my latest, w/the macrame' sarcasm and the fact he proved one day it'll all fade away to nothingness, when he was trying to prove the opposite and had to make sodamsad to fit it

  • @32Rainking That's the one!

  • thank you, this is the only full version of the song, but really it does work, because it is actually one of the saddest songs ever einstein down on the beach staring into the sand, everything he believes in is shattered-when he gave up the search for the cosmological constant as a force to balance gravity and cam e to the awful realization that things are not infinite-then what you fear in the night and the day comes to call anyway, and just in case you're not ready to hang it up yet we all get

  • thanks for this interpretation. I had been going along with the whole "Einstein's remorse of contributing to the development of the nuclear bomb" but I don't think that's right. This song is about what it feels like when you come to the awful realization that everything you believe in and trusted in is wrong.

  • @TheRunningamuck I believe your description is the premise of one of the finest movies of the late 20th Century starring Val Kilmer---------Real Genius.

  • i love this song it remindes my of my gf

  • @shyguy5454 Was her last name Einstein?

  • I was just surfing for the song and found this. I have a cousin who does gymnastics so I can appreciate the photos, but I must say that I've never associated gymnastics with nuclear holocaust. All well, the beat of the music does fit, even if the lyrics don't. "One more sun comes sliding down the sky. One more shadow leans against the wall. And the world begins to disappear." I also have a friend who worked on the guidance systems for ICBMs so I can appreciate that too. It's a good video.

  • ha ha ha!

  • Thank you for watching my video! Like I said in the video description, I chose the song because it is upbeat and fun! I used to listen to this song in the summer, so I always associate it to good memories! You're right! I never really did listen to the lyrics, I just like the way it sounds!

  • wow

  • Not bad pictures and beautiful song. Good work, pal.

  • Thank you! :)

  • @astill68 Thanks for posting the song, even if it brings out the dregs of the net to tell the wrong meaning of the song,be jealous of the people who know the truth, and diss your gymnastics pictures.I think it creates a great Dichotomy-you rule!
