  • can someone tell me what it means when like the chords he's teaching has those parenthesis on it? like itd be 2(2)4(2)2 0 or something like that

  • @KoreanBCE it just helps seperate the numbers so you dont think its like 22 or 42, basically its so fucking retard dont think their guitar has 42 frets

  • Ugh. You make me wish I could sing. But at least I can play the song on guitar now. Thanks man :D

    10 x 10 12 0 0

  • Great video.

    Chords for "up my sleeve":

    "up":  2x231x

    "my": 2x232x

  • Awesome tutorial man! Thanks so much, geez that bar chord at 3:37 is killing me! Can't press down hard enough on the D string and it keeps getting muted.

  • thanks mate

  • Very cool, Man!!

só farei uma crítica: faltou você tocar a canção inteira (play full song)

e você poderia ter colocado o nome das notas ( Am; F#(11); E7+ etc..)

    Mas ficou legal. Parabéns..

  • you look like matthew mcconaughey. and this is the most accurate version of this ive ever seen.

  • While this isn't exactly right, you do the tutorial better and more accurately than anyone else. Good job.

  • AHHH HE LOOKS LIKE MOSE! DWIGHT'S COUSIN FROM THE OFFICE!

  • 4:09 I find so much easier to mute with my thumb, My hands are Huge to be fair .. But try it :)

  • The guitar you have is very inexpensive...

    Hah, imagine..

  • Great video you an amamzing teacher. You are straight to the point and you have the fingering tabbed out. You rock man. I think that you would like my guitar scale video. You can shred over alot of johns songs with it.

  • Thank You So Much. this is the BEST instructional video i've ever seen on youtube. the way you had the chords shown on the screen as you played them.

  • thans man (Y)

  • t'so nice dude.. thanks. ^_^

  • man this is awesome, wish i could get the strumming down though lol

  • The best tutorial dude! great about the tab images shown and all that, you can be a great teacher

  • thankyou i couldnt have learned this without you

u have a really nice singing voice btw xx

  • I agree with Emuseic, Ive only gotten into watching this 1:43 sec and the fact that he is detailed and "thorough" makes this video tops! If this is your first, keep it up!

  • fucking sweet guitar man!

  • Damn, I have a classical guitar.. When I try to play those chords I can't reach it because my guitar body is in the way :(

  • pause 0:18

  • anyone know the tuning for this song?

  • @musicfrk20 Standard tuning.

  • @musicfrk20 yeah, the normal one --'

  • Awesome! I like the way the chord tabs are shown...I really appreciated your effort in sharing your talent. Now I"m going to practice this song until I'll get it right. Thanks man, I wish you all the best

  • thanks for the help:D you're cute haha

  • at 2.00 he describes how to transition down from 0 10 12 14 0 0 and you have to swap your 2nd and 3rd finger, its much easier to use your pointer, middle and pinky fingers, and then use the ring finger on the last chord i think.

  • lol, beginners really find these chords weird, but actually the chords used here was already minimized or shortcuts, musicians prefer to use these chords to make the positioning of fingers a lot more easier than power chords.

  • awesome dude! great tutorial

  • excellent! best tutorial ever! :)

  • big help thank you!!!!!!!! twice

  • you know what? i think i'll learn this song when im two years into guitaring haha

  • i swear john mayer must be THIS bored to make up these chords....BUT I LOVE IT

  • too hard for me

  • Nice job brother!

  • hey i posted a video link with my cover of the song, no vocals. i used your video to help me learn. thought it could maybe help people learning this song

  • This was a reallllyy good instructional video, you should do more john mayer. Who says for instance

  • @Cory32765 who says is way easy its all open chords.

  • Comment removed

  • you look like my friend ben pretty funny... nice lesson man ill take it and use it for live covers up in saratoga....

  • about his strum being inaccurate, if you hear john mayer play it live acoustic, he does a crazy strum like the one he's doing here.

  • You've gotta have strong hands to do this...

  • I'm using some tabs that sound alright, but this sounds a lot better. But it's a lot harder =P

  • but what the hell is up with 68 at the prechorus.. its not 6-8, that would sound REALLY wrong.

  • i knew most of it already, just needed a refresh, and you give me a good one! :) your strum isnt quite accurate though, but awsome job on the chords. thanks!

  • extremely helpful!

  • its great but i dont know the strumming patterns

  • dont guess, you do play guitar ok. Thanks for being a great teacher also!!!!

  • this is awesome! Thanks man! Do you think you can write out the Strum pattern, I'm having trouble with that!

    Great lesson!

  • quick shirt fix.

oh and very nice guide also.

  • WOO! Awesome tutorial

  • haha i dont know how you made this tutorial so fast and to the point. must be really skilled or really lucky. i learned how to play this song in 8 minutes and 57 seconds.

  • duuude way to fast and i can barely hear you

  • Nice one mate! i lost faith with the book, this is a much easier way to learn, your chords are spot on i think! cheers buddy, much thanks from the UK!

  • Great Instrutional video....keep it coming

  • One of the best John Mayer tutorial on Youtube!! Thank you sir!

  • This is how a Tutorial/instructional video should be done!!! Fantastic!

  • wow, you've got a noice voice :D

  • heeeeelp can't get the first chord! but i can do the others

  • This is a great tutorial. Good job.

  • Pretty Good some of the chords are a little off though

  • this was a huge help! everything seems right, and you're a talented singer and player. you strum it well too... i hope i can figure out the strumming eventually. keep doing instructionals!

  • damn this is impossible!

  • this is great man. thanks. i'll try this later, for now, gotta go to work..

  • i thought you were john mayer from the icon.

  • is this maddd legit! but could you explain the strumming in more detail? I'm having a bit of trouble with that.. it would help a bunch.

  • dam man, my hands hurt

  • this song is really hard for beginners but i'm going to keep watching :P

  • awesome, thanks dude

  • thanks, this helped alot

  • Thanks, That was cool! I'll give it a try!

  • thanks for posting this dude. good job

  • Thanks so much. very clear and helpful.

  • is this in standard tuning?

  • yup

  • this was soooo helpful!!! thank you so much! i'm seeing john mayer in concert this weekend and i would feel stupid if i didn't know how to play at least one of his songs before i went

  • im just starting... what does the 0 11 13 11 x x mean right in the beginning? obviously its like code for where ur fingers go... but can someone explain it to me so someone who's never touched a guitar can understand? please and thank you :)

  • @GoopyMalice

Yep, you're right about where the fingers go.

0 means open, thus you leave the string untouched.

11 is the 11th freth on the 2nd string, meaning the box you see seperated by lines on your guitar. And so on for the rest of the numbers. You read it left to right, and for the guitar you start with the first string as well. That's all there is to it. Hope that helps!

  • very good

  • WOW.. many thanks!

  • Great work! Extremely helpful!

  • Great job! You play well, teach well, and seem interested in helping people learn the song instead of showing off. Impressed.

  • Nice playing. Would be helpful if you had a discrete mic for your voice. Kinda hard to hear

  • turn up your computa

  • really help full and great video but there are soo many chords to remember!!

  • Great lesson. Thanks...now if I could just play it smooooothly!

  • i dont know how to mute the strings with all those crazy chords :(

  • thanks man, great guide.

huge help, this is legit, better than any tab i've seen

  • thanks bro you made it easy

  • What is the Guitar Tuning, is it standard??Reply to me please.. Thanks..

  • EADGBE standard

  • muy bueno.... gracias.compadre

  • effin cool man!!...thanx for this! :D

  • WOW! Nice tutorial! I can just imagine what a TAB looks like YIKES!! I guess its gonna be a while before I learn this one!

  • jesus these are some weird chords!

  • @powertothechord haha. I believe theres a C#7add9 in this song

  • @powertothechord mayer usually makes use of unorthodox chords

  • @powertothechord not really just basic 7ths, and 9ths, jazz chords, its a basic chords with added notes in it...

  • great, thanks.

  • dude, thanks. :D

  • too hard

  • wow i learned the most useful thing from this video.

HOW NOT TO LOSE UR PICKS.

"put it between the strings" xD nicee, i always lose picks

  • yeah what does (4) and (2) mean? Anyone?

  • it means that theyre optional notes. you dont have to play them

  • optional. That's what () usually indicates.

  • what does the ( 4) and (2) means in the chord that appears at second: 2:29?

  • nicee...i learned something today
