And to think sadly that in the bigger picture of things that Michael is not a household name per say such as EVH, is a disgrace in itself! Schenker oozes talent effortlessly and that other guy could live to be 100 and NEVER be so musically melodic, technical and emotional! I can't think that EVH even acknowledges Michael's greatness as hes so wrapped up in his own ego!
WHAT A DIFFERENCE... BONNET BARDEN....GOES TO SHOW HOW GREAT BONNET REALLY IS....NO INSULT TO BARDEN OR ANY OTHER VOCALIST IN THE WORLD....BONNET IS GOD
Unless thier last name is Moog, any singer that has ever shared the stage with Schenker just gets in the way..... Every single MSG song I have ever heard gets infinately better when Barden, Bonnet, McCauley, whoever, just shuts the fuck up
Michael Schenker is without a doubt a genius...His awesome sense of Melody and Tone are simply the best...Right up there with Steve Lukather and Neal Schon...guys that understand riffs, tone and Melodies rather than just doing the typical shred crap.
Barden sounds fine. He of course doesn't have the power of BONNET...different type of singer all together. On these re-recorded versions, they left some of the backing vocals that Graham did. Thats plain to hear, the rest is Gary...and he does just fine.
is this really the studio cut, minus one of Graham's layer overdubs? I can kinda hear his "breathiness" in there, and his highs, but not the rough part. The timing is TOO on with the album's studio cut. Yngwie did a similar thing with different singers appearing in videos than who actually sang on the studio cuts (Jeff Scott Soto and Mark Boals, the "I'll See The Light Tonight" video.)
and sadly one of the most underrated, for years all the attention has been for van halen, iommi, blackmore and some others but just a few ones has pay the tribute that schenker deserves
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If schenker wasnt such a fag, bonnet would never have been kicked out of the band. come on, so bonnet whipped his balls out a few times on stage! big deal. he cycled through musicians like they were going out of style. so every musician that went through msg were dicks? not at all, schenker was and is a dick. not that it has anything to do with him being a great musician. he`s just a sissy that wants it to be his way and his way only. when he dosent get it his way, he just kicks you out.
That is why it is called the Michael Schenker Group, It is his band and he can do what he wants..unfotunately, bot always the wisest decisions but it is HIS band...
Well, when you have your own band you can do whatever you want too.. They do get paid you know and can start their own bands and do what they want if they like.. Dumbass..
Watching it again...I love this song....I too am beginning to think Michael Schenker is a god of guitar...so melodic! What talent! I'm not a musician, but I can tell when someone is truly talented and stands out from the crowd.
This is Gary Barden on vocals.Bonnet as great of a singer he is,can't hit the high notes as does Barden.Bonnet has played along many great guitarist, such as Blackmore,Malmsteen,Impelliterri,Vai,and Schenker to name a few. Both Barden and Bonnet are great.
I Realy Love Gary Barden he is a great singer and if foreced to chose I would perhaps chose him but his range is nothing like Bonnet's.
The thing about Graham Bonnet is that he does not sound like he has a high pitch but he has probably the largest range of all without resorting to falseto.
Bonnet has a longest range than Barden....Barden had tremendous difficulties to sing Bonnet songs live! And the backing vocals you hear here are by Graham!
listen to the original album.............barden is a decent singer...........but graham bonnet is on another level....honestly ! if you not sure..classic album with a singer with all the range !
They keep the backing vocals parts Graham did on the chorus and various double tracked bits. Gary laid down a new lead vocal. It just made sense, as they were good, to leave Bonnets backing vocals...thats why you hear him in certain places.
This is a good vocal by Barden. Barden had a difficult time with the Bonnet songs live. But Bonnet can be totally hit-or-miss live, too - and it's usually "miss" these days. But in the studio, no one is better. As for this song, the nod goes to Bonnet, but Barden is really good on this, too.
OMFG!! Where in God's name did this come from? Is this a studio version of Desert Song? I actually like this better than the Bonnet version! Barden rules! New MSG kicks ass. This is like Halford singing Sabbath.
Gary Barden and Graham Bonnet BOTH are great singers and BOTH have their own great styles. I'll just leave it at that! I cannot take anything away from these guys. When it comes down to it, THEY BOTH ROCK! PERIOD!
I can hear Graham Backing Vocals like on Dancer....It's sad they re-recorded Dancer and this for the videos, the original vocals on Assault Attack are really better...and Barden ruined almost his voice trying to sing Bonnet Songs on the tour.... however Great video and pretty rare! five stars!
bonnet is way better..but i do like barden...assault attack was a great album...

Gary's a good singer, and i like parts of the 1st MSG album, but he didn't sound half this good on it, and NONE of those highs. Just sayin'...

Where´s the 2nd guitarist on that solo? Behind the scene as they use to be lefted by a very solo-oriented Michael back in time? ;)

Why did Barden leave MSG the first time in 82? I can't remember the story...

By management Q-prime(Peter Mentch?i'm not sure) . They wanted a super-vocalist just like David coverdale. And Cozy Powell took Bonnet into the band.
