  • bonnet is way better..but i do like barden...assault attack was a great album...

  • And to think sadly that in the bigger picture of things that Michael is not a household name per say such as EVH, is a disgrace in itself! Schenker oozes talent effortlessly and that other guy could live to be 100 and NEVER be so musically melodic, technical and emotional! I can't think that EVH even acknowledges Michael's greatness as hes so wrapped up in his own ego!

  • WHAT A DIFFERENCE... BONNET BARDEN....GOES TO SHOW HOW GREAT BONNET REALLY IS....NO INSULT TO BARDEN OR ANY OTHER VOCALIST IN THE WORLD....BONNET IS GOD

  • Unless thier last name is Moog, any singer that has ever shared the stage with Schenker just gets in the way..... Every single MSG song I have ever heard gets infinately better when Barden, Bonnet, McCauley, whoever, just shuts the fuck up

  • Michael Schenker is without a doubt a genius...His awesome sense of Melody and Tone are simply the best...Right up there with Steve Lukather and Neal Schon...guys that understand riffs, tone and Melodies rather than just doing the typical shred crap.

  • when you play with the schenk, your job is to not get in the way...

  • Classic Schenker!!!

  • love this video very much and of course the song is incredible

  • Barden sounds fine. He of course doesn't have the power of BONNET...different type of singer all together. On these re-recorded versions, they left some of the backing vocals that Graham did. Thats plain to hear, the rest is Gary...and he does just fine.

  • Gary's a good singer, and i like parts of the 1st MSG album, but he didn't sound half this good on it, and NONE of those highs. Just sayin'...

  • is this really the studio cut, minus one of Graham's layer overdubs? I can kinda hear his "breathiness" in there, and his highs, but not the rough part. The timing is TOO on with the album's studio cut. Yngwie did a similar thing with different singers appearing in videos than who actually sang on the studio cuts (Jeff Scott Soto and Mark Boals, the "I'll See The Light Tonight" video.)

  • Saw him with Nugent back in 85" what a show!!

  • Sublime!

  • this is great thanks for this i never knew gary barden covered this song , i think he does a great job of it

  • Michael Schenker Group! FTW! Rock on !

  • they are performing in playback with some more echoes added to the regular studio version to make it sounds a little bit different

  • Where´s the 2nd guitarist on that solo? Behind the scene as they use to be lefted by a very solo-oriented Michael back in time? ;)

  • @jem10th is this an official msg music video??

  • Barden sounds great on this...

  • wow, never knew id see this on here, congrats!!

  • The music we are hearing here, doesn't fit to the images on the film. Studio version of the song with a video... Awfully put together, too... :-(

  • Michael is without a doubt one of the most inspiring rock guitarist's that ever lived.

  • my favorite song of the whole album. this song inspired the fuck outta my music career. thank you Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ElectricShed

and sadly one of the most underrated, for years all the attention has been for van halen, iommi, blackmore and some others but just a few ones has pay the tribute that schenker deserves

  • @dntmetal - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING IN A HOLE, MAYBE YOU WERE TO YOUNG WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING.

  • @ElectricShed yes

  • Backing vocals are still recorded by Bonnet here!

  • doesnt really matter what was worn who sung what. you front for the greatest guitarist of all time, u da man!!!!!

  • Not even close to bonnets high notes

  • This isn't live- it's a made for video tune, but his voice is great.

  • actually, i think barden acquits himself well here...better than on some of his live clips, that's for sure...

  • Hypnotic, beautiful and amazingly haunting.

  • this vocalist did a fine job.

  • I guess barden finally sent the white blazer out for a cleaning lolololol

  • That is why it is called the Michael Schenker Group, It is his band and he can do what he wants..unfotunately, bot always the wisest decisions but it is HIS band...

  • Well, when you have your own band you can do whatever you want too.. They do get paid you know and can start their own bands and do what they want if they like.. Dumbass..

  • I really hope you guys know that there is a Mcauley Schenker Group as well........

  • Fuck Bonnet and fck mrbizzarro. I guess mrbizzaro would enjoy Bonnet whipping his pinus on the stage and bizarro chasing his little pinus.

  • How Cool!! Same tunes, New Vox!

  • Watching it again...I love this song....I too am beginning to think Michael Schenker is a god of guitar...so melodic! What talent! I'm not a musician, but I can tell when someone is truly talented and stands out from the crowd.

  • Why did Barden leave MSG the first time in 82? I can't remember the story...

  • By management Q-prime(Peter Mentch?i'm not sure) . They wanted a super-vocalist just like David coverdale. And Cozy Powell took Bonnet into the band.

  • fottutamente una canzone fottuta!!

  • This is Gary Barden on vocals.Bonnet as great of a singer he is,can't hit the high notes as does Barden.Bonnet has played along many great guitarist, such as Blackmore,Malmsteen,Impelliterri,Vai,and Schenker to name a few. Both Barden and Bonnet are great.

  • Errrmm..yes the harmony vocal lines are Bonnet...this isn't live.

They redid the main vocal for Barden but left Bonet on the backups.

  • I Realy Love Gary Barden he is a great singer and if foreced to chose I would perhaps chose him but his range is nothing like Bonnet's.

The thing about Graham Bonnet is that he does not sound like he has a high pitch but he has probably the largest range of all without resorting to falseto.

Barden is nevertheless a truly great singer.

  • Bonnet has a longest range than Barden....Barden had tremendous difficulties to sing Bonnet songs live! And the backing vocals you hear here are by Graham!

  • I agree,Both are great singers

  • "Sublime"

  • Wow I never heard this version.

  • I saw them many times during this era - that's Barden - 100%.

Compare it to the original & you'll hear the difference.

  • It's Barden, The voice in the backing vocals is by Bonnet

  • SCHENKER IS GOD!

  • as .doghousespiiman says...its barden singing. he does ok........but check out bonnet......different class.

  • Its Gary who sing on this playback but on the album from 1982 (Assault Attack) its Graham Bonnet.

  • thank you! its bonnet for sure!

  • This is most definately Bonnet singing and Gary Lip sinking.....

  • This is Gary singing. His voice type is not like Bonnet's at all.

  • listen to the original album.............barden is a decent singer...........but graham bonnet is on another level....honestly ! if you not sure..classic album with a singer with all the range !

  • NO ITS NOT.

They keep the backing vocals parts Graham did on the chorus and various double tracked bits. Gary laid down a new lead vocal. It just made sense, as they were good, to leave Bonnets backing vocals...thats why you hear him in certain places.

  • u guys must b deaf this is bonnets version with barden miming it! geez!

  • anybody who thinks this is Bonnet has never heard him sing or is totally tone deaf

  • This is a good vocal by Barden. Barden had a difficult time with the Bonnet songs live. But Bonnet can be totally hit-or-miss live, too - and it's usually "miss" these days. But in the studio, no one is better. As for this song, the nod goes to Bonnet, but Barden is really good on this, too.

  • Yea ... i gotta agree. Decent vocal.

  • OMFG!! Where in God's name did this come from? Is this a studio version of Desert Song? I actually like this better than the Bonnet version! Barden rules! New MSG kicks ass. This is like Halford singing Sabbath.

  • Ledgend Schenker Awsome.

  • great track, better than the Bonnet album version, I can never forgive him the 'DANCER' Ouch!!

  • Oh Hell yes! Thank you "youtube"

  • barden and michael at there best. long live msg and welcome back gary to the new msg!

  • Gary Barden and Graham Bonnet BOTH are great singers and BOTH have their own great styles. I'll just leave it at that! I cannot take anything away from these guys. When it comes down to it, THEY BOTH ROCK! PERIOD!

  • Awesome song man! No wonder Malmsteen covered it with Alcatrazz.

  • Yeah he did cover it someoneone posted it here on youtube but as i remember it wasnt as think as this version. I mean the tone was think.

  • What do you mean by "think"?

  • oops sorry I mean thick

  • is it possible to find "assault attack" with Barden on vocals? (I mean the CD, I'm a collector)

  • no matters who sings, if shencker plays it´s a wonderful song

  • best mono sodium glutamate song ever

  • Also, Gary has a much better image and persona on stage. check out his work with Statetrooper on youtube

  • Bonnet is a fantastic singer, but Gary brings more colours to this song. Schenker has concluded that Gary was the best singer he had worked with.

  • Probably the least drunk also.

  • Better with Barden, they should've recorded Assault Attack with him in the first place.

  • Awesome a really great singer with music in his blood!!! Gary Barden know how to live in the muic and move on the stage, he is a real Rocker!!!

  • He was never constant, some nights he was awesome other nights he was shite.

  • bonnet in his day? no-one could live with him. on 'down to earth' forget about the 'singles' listen to ' no time to lose ' ..pure power ?

  • i love barden, but i think bonnet was way better on this song

  • Agree rideon77-Gary is a fine vocalist, but Graham Bonnet is the best vocalist Schenk ever worked with.Nonetheless,Great video and very rare.5 stars.

  • garys great here btw

  • cool ive seen the dancer video but not this , thanks

  • I can hear Graham Backing Vocals like on Dancer....It's sad they re-recorded Dancer and this for the videos, the original vocals on Assault Attack are really better...and Barden ruined almost his voice trying to sing Bonnet Songs on the tour.... however Great video and pretty rare! five stars!
