  • Screamin' Jimmys forever!

  • sounds like one on a D40HF

  • is it a v8 or in line 6???

  • 6v92.. v6 92 cubic inches per cylinder

  • A better question is, is it a steam engine or a diesel engine

  • ha ha...........

  • @24preacherboy

    Diesel

  • @777worldliner

V6...but Detroit did make an inline two stroke 6 also.. They made a single cylinder, a twin cylinder, a 3 Cylinder, a 4 cylinder and a 6 in their inline series...Non inline consisted of a V6,V8, V12, and V16.. the V16 was the biggest of course... the 16V149...149 Cubic inches PER cylinder giving it a total displacement of 2,384 Cubic inches..

I believe the family included 53 cubic inches per cylinder,71, 92,and 149 cubic inches per cylinder...but the 16v was 149

  • Love that sound. :)

  • sounds like an ole GMC RTS bus

  • A lot of RTSs had 6V92TAs or 8V71s.

  • a few had 6V71ns too.

  • most of the RTS's we had in new york in the 80's and 90's had this type of engine. I really miss hearing that sound!! Of corse i also love the sound of the series 50/60.

  • According to an old GMC Astro brochure I read, the engine has a remote starter switch on it.

  • sounds great!

reminds me of the old 50's-60's city transit buses (i wasnt around then but u know)

  • Is this the GMC astro??

  • Yes, a 1980 model.
