V6...but Detroit did make an inline two stroke 6 also.. They made a single cylinder, a twin cylinder, a 3 Cylinder, a 4 cylinder and a 6 in their inline series...Non inline consisted of a V6,V8, V12, and V16.. the V16 was the biggest of course... the 16V149...149 Cubic inches PER cylinder giving it a total displacement of 2,384 Cubic inches..
I believe the family included 53 cubic inches per cylinder,71, 92,and 149 cubic inches per cylinder...but the 16v was 149
most of the RTS's we had in new york in the 80's and 90's had this type of engine. I really miss hearing that sound!! Of corse i also love the sound of the series 50/60.

According to an old GMC Astro brochure I read, the engine has a remote starter switch on it.
