I saw them at the Santa Monica Civic in 1982 - AMAZING LIVE! I remember the first song they played was Lowrider by War but they played it fast and the horns were amazing!!! Dayum, them were the days ...
Saw this band live at the Town and Country club in London, 1981 ish. Fantastic live performers - thought the balcony was going to collapse when they played this and everyone jumped up and down at the same time.
If I am making a video to a song that goes "Boy meets Girl" make sure to put LOTS of girls in swimwear in video. This group was so gay all they could do was show themselves looking at each other, lol.
Amazing track guys, reminds me of the time I was flying from LAX to Wigan in my private jet and was making out with all the beautiful ladies who were travelling with me on my Mister Love God World Tour back in the 80's. Thanks Nick and the boys - the girls were hot and I never had a floppy one at all. Nice.
Pelican west is one of the greatest pop works ever made. Still sound fresh and original after years and is definitely standing the test of time. I also appreciated Nick Heyward's solo projects but this stuff was kinda magic.
WOW what an amazing song.. I love turning up the volume up high when im driving and bounce around to the beats to make my boyfriend laugh hahaha i LOVE this song!
When possible, take an early sunset cruise in a convertible on a nice summers eve playing Pelican West. It is very theraputic and relaxing. I live in Colorado and always like to go up through the mountain passes and hear my favorite band.
This song is so AWSOME!! and l never use the A word but it just is. l heard it years ago, grabbed the keys to my 1982 Peugeot 104 ZS and went for a 3 hour cruise on the back of this song.
Gee that makes me sound like a loon now I've seen it in print :)
I only listen to music from last century when I can. And classical. A lot of the 21st century stuff makes me want to puke! But I'd rather not hop into a time machine and re-live childhood in the 80's in the ghetto again!
Remember seeing Haircut in the Pink Elephant in Southgate .... must have been early 82? What a night, it was just like the biggest, best party, people just getting on stage and dancing with the band. Listening to this again just takes me back to times of happy abandonment!!
Man... i finally found this song! I kept getting some dork singing some lame ass slow song with the same name lol...music today just doesnt compete with these great classics!
this song STILL kicks ass! i love the guitar on this song. It just makes me want to get up and dance. reminds me of waking up on a school day and hearing it on K-ROQ, the rock of the 80's. nothing but Care-Free times and not a care in the world but how to get money to play pac-man. those were the days...
I remember seeing these guys in a local nightclub just before they were famous.. totally blew me away!! Playing all their own instruments and just sounding fantastic. Couldn't have asked for more.... great memories
I loved nick so much, in the 80's I find it funny now but it was so serious then it was like life or death. You may laugh but we took it deadly serious so serious I will leave.
Oh god this reminds me of how my girlfriend would blast this song in her Fiarro while driving on california highways at night, and I was high as hell.
Probably a bit too heterosexual for 2010 Britian - let's come up with some 'PC' lyrics for a laugh and a definate two-fingered salute to those who 'know best.'
Haha..on a scale of 1 to 10 this is an ELE VEN on the "80's cheese-o-rama meter" but I enjoyed them Bought the album because teen girls liked it and it's kind of hard to get a girl to make out to "Iron Man" by Sabbath..good times good times...
omg i remember goin to see these guys in concert, twice infact, they were amazin,n dat was a loooong time ago!!!!! lol still beat the pants off most of the shit in the charts rite now..........
@pigknuckles211 it does a little bit, but this genre was referred to as white funk, or just new wave. the horns make it seem like ska but the beat isnt really right for ska and all jamaican music forms change on the beat.
I don't remember this video having an alternate recording on it. This is not the audio from the album version of the song. Sounds like a demo.

The great Lascelles James from Spear of Destiny played on this record. Though Hershul played trumpet with him and was given the credit.
