I own and carry a kahr pm45 and i have naver had any problems disassembling and reassembly .. it really isnt that hard .. the full disassembly is hard but so is any other firearm that you fully disassemble .. I love my kahr naver had any problems with it not even in the brake 200 rounds .. and i have naver uesed any tools to field strip my kahr
I cant believe anyone would complain about the disassembly of the Kahr its so easy a child could do it. One person here says its harder than a 1911 I have 2 and this Kahr is just as easy as they are.
it says tap with a screw driver but it you get yoru slide in the right location you can just give it a firm push with your finger. no tools neaded and just as simple if not more thank a glock
homeostasis4me, I have a CW9 that I have fired over 1,000 rounds through with ZERO malfunctions. When I bought gun and took it apart, I too felt a little leery about the slide riding on the polymer frame with the small square blocks like you describe. I contacted the service department at Kahr and they assured me that my gun will stand up to many rounds. So far they have not been wrong. As a law enforcement officer I carry this gun daily as a back up and off duty and trust my life to it.
The ONLY metal in the lower half of this gun is two tiny 1/16' thick slivers of steel in the forend where the mainspring rides, and two 1/4" square blocks at the VEEERRRRY back of the frame, molded into the plastic. The ENTIRETY of the guides you see here are plastic. The gun rides almost entirely metal- on- plastic. I should have stripped the thing before I bought it- I can't BELIEVE it, this thing rides on plastic. I feel gypped; even Kel-Tec uses metal guides! Field strip before you buy....
As slick as my Kahr is, I HATE how ridiculous assembly / disassembly is with it. It is the worst pistol I have ever encountered for that. Worse than the worst 1911 I have ever taken down.
Yea it is. I took it to the gun dealer near me and the guy was like "oh this gun is easy". Showed me exactly what to line up and take apart. Easy to do now but one of th most annoying pistols to disassemble. Tap it with a screwdriver? Really? The springfields, and glocks are WAY easire.
yea man i saw that Kahr and a $325 price tag i was like "man i cant pass that up" went back early the next day and picked it up...it only had like 10-20 rounds through it
I love the PM9. Great little gun all around, perfect for conceal. I've shot all sorts of ammo through it, from Remington Gold Saber hollow points to dirty Russian Berdan-primed, steel-cased ammunition. The problems with the PM40 are unfortunately pretty common, and a lot of them need to be returned to Kahr for repair or machining.
Excellent video. I was considering buying a KAHR PM9 but am uncomfortable with the way it disassembles. I have Sigs and Glocks but was looking for something smaller and lighter to carry all the time. I was hoping the KAHR was more Sig like as I prefer that design. I guess I'll just keep looking. I'm a Sig guy but not really crazy about what they're making these days. Maybe I'll check them out again.
try calling them if you purchased it and it's not working right due to a factory defect, they should replace it or fix it for free minus your shipping to them
The wire spring pin hole notice saved me a major headache. I had accidentally pushed the spring out of place when pushing the pin back in and it wasn't going together right ( the slide kept catching when I went to function test). I never would've noticed that was the issue until i saw this vid. Everything works fine now.
I knoew these are low capacity, but are they dependable? I need a small pocket pistol and I think this is the smallest 9 out there! I just can't convince myself on the .380. Thoughts, comments, snide remarks?
I bought a CW 45 a few days ago. I bought two extra magazines because it only comes with one. I did not want a 9mm due to what I believe is less stopping power, thus why I picked a CW 45.
The CW45 needs a minimum of 200 rounds for a break in period per the manual, but I've shot 325 rounds so far.
The first shot I fired, and I saved the target, was almost in the center at 25 feet away. I haven't had any problems other than associated with a new gun. I don't regret buying the CW45.
Also consider the Kel-tec pf 9, its a 9mm that's actually lighter and smaller than the kahr pm9, there are great review videos on youtube for both of them
toddall, I own the CW9. It is much thinner than other 9mm out there. It is reliable, backed by the company, and carries 7 in the mag and 1 in the pipe. All for $429. Cant beat it. You will love it.
I assume so, and in that case, it's very different from the Kahr. The Sig is closer to a Kahr than an XD is. Kahr has no take down lever, it uses the slide stop. The XD doesnt have alignment marks, you lock the slide back and flip the take down lever up, then release slide and pull trigger.
I owned a Kahr for a time and sold it because I just found it a pain the field strip. Eventually bought a Springfield which I have been much more satisfied with.
Thanks for the video. Aligning the index marks was helpful. Thxs again

P.S The index "marks"??? There is only one and it's on the frame. What am I lining up the index mark up with?

I can actually push the slide stop pin out with my finger - don't need a tool for this step.
This design has no issues (as was said in an earlier response).
