  • Martin praised Starr's drumming on Sgt. Pepper, calling him "probably ... the finest rock drummer in the world today."

  • and get back didnt get mentioned??? muppet

  • Great list! Haven't read all the comments, but I always thought he sounded great on "Not A Second Time", one of the most effective drum fills in any Beatles recording.

  • strawberry fields forever take 7 edit piece drum solo the end solo is overrated and i can easily play the whole song on drums

  • @totaldrambeatles22 a song doesn't become better by being harder to play dummy

  • @gorgolyt then what makes a drumming song better how much you remember it nope that is a fail

  • @totaldrambeatles22 of course and norwegian death metal is objectively better than hey jude because it's faster and has more notes.

    derrrrrrrrrrrrrp

  • Strawberry Fields Forever?

  • Woah woah woah don't forget Long Tall Sally!! Brilliant solo in that one!

  • @YesiLoveHer57 One of his wildest performances

  • strawberry fields has a dirty drum track

  • Comment removed

  • a day in the life??? get back???

  • "TOP" 10? Sorry. We forgot to add Ringo coming in after the vocal intro to HEY JUDE. Don't believe me? Find it. Listen to it. If we don't get a chill we are not Beatles Fans.

  • #4 in the background: ". . . five, six, se-ven, eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!"

  • The fills in A Day In The Life are mind blowing

  • Thanks to the poster for calling me attention to Ringo's drums, since I always tend to focus on the melody and lyrics. But since so many commenters have suggested other Beatles' songs, maybe you could do a second selection for us. Cheers.

  • I hate how RINGO is so underrated as a drummer, he was great and I can actually dare to say better than Moon even though Moon was faster and all, but is it really about who plays the drims fast? No, it's about creativity and diverse tricks.

  • A Day in the Life features some of the most unquestionably beautiful drum fills in all of music. why is it not on this list?

  • @StormingTropius Totally agree I suppose it is because it is an accompaniment not a solo, but sometimes an accompaniment in the back of the mix is a hidden treasure you just have to listen hard. (Find this also big time on funk guitar)

  • This video was essentially "Ringo Starr's drum fills."

  • strawberry fields?(i'm not a drummer but it still sounds epic)

  • A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • best drumming is she said she said cant believe its forgot

  • Pretty aweome! But i strongly feel that Ringo's gut busting beat at the very end of "Long Tall Sally" should have been listed here as well. Still, very good drumming choices anyhow! =-D

  • Nice.

  • Four 1961 Beatles/Sheridan tracks were overdubbed by Bernard Purdie:

    Ain't She Sweet

    Sweet Georgia Brown

    Take Out Some Insurance

    Nobody's Child

  • I'm glad Thank You Girl was put on here but ticket to ride and she said she said could have earned spot on this list. I'd replace Pepper (reprise) and, And I love her with them.

  • @FABIOANT0NIO Couldn't agree more. Also, as a 14 year-old kid at the time, I remember being so impressed by the drum intro to "What You're Doing." Was that Ringo or Paul?

  • @andyinoregon That was Ringo. Paul only drummed on a few songs.

  • Interesting List. A few notes -

All of the track sheets from The Beatles recordings are published. I have not looked at them in years, but to my recollection @panchobehremann is correct, Purdie is not listed on a single track. As for this "done in secret" concept, that is just ridiculous.

    Your #2, "Rain", is Ringo's #1

Not to take away from his playing on "The End", which is excellent, but the actual solo itself was written for Ringo by Keith Moon as a birthday present, I think.

  • That's Paul, not Ringo, on "Sgt. Pepper" reprise. Ringo was on vacation so Paul went in the studio and played it.

  • @tnlshaw I don't know where you got that but that is wrong. Paul played on Dear Prudence and Back in the USSR on the White Album when Ringo temporarily left the band.

  • Purdie was credited on the sound track album for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978). This is done through research...From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Ringo Said His Best Work Was"Rain" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" which i think is great, but i think his best work is tell me why,the end, being for the benefit of mister kite,i want you she's so heavy,i feel fine, and day tripper :)

  • Every body knows, The End was number 1 if your a true fan.

  • Bernard Purdie did not play on any official Beatles' track ever. If you think he did; you never did your homework! Paul plays on a few and Andy White on a couple, Ringo plays on all the rest.

  • I dont think Birthday, Sgt. Pepper, And I Love Her should be there, but Ringo is amazing.

  • This is such a amazing video. Ringo is the one of the best drummers of all time

  • I love Ringo however he did not play on all the Beatles tunes....Bernard Purdie, and McCartney himself played a several.

  • @worthmoremusic Purdie tells all kinds of lies. He never played on a beatles track.

  • @panchobehrmann It's been well documented by many players as well as the Beatles themselves that Purdie did in fact play on a few tracks. research this well my friend...

  • @worthmoremusic The only "source" for this bit of misinformation is Purdie himself. McCartney LAUGHED when this claim was mentioned to him in an interview. His claim is that he played on 21 official, released tracks and this was done secretly by Brian Epstein. Do YOUR research for all of the evidence against this ridiculous claim by an otherwise respectable, highly talented drummer.

  • @worthmoremusic I think Purdie might have played on the American release of a few early tracks before the Ringo joined and he did play on the Sgt. Pepper's Album by the Bee Gees many years later, not The Beatles.

  • Ringo was the perfect drummer for The Beatles.

  • Ringo is THE perfect rock'n'roll drummer...if you think Ringo sucks...then you're not listening...

  • Wait a minute no A day in the life? that has got to be Ringos greates work, how could you no include that? it shoul be number one!!!

  • i would be emabarassed to watch this if i was ringo...LOL

  • thanks--love Ringo too--great artist not technician or show off. also appreciate the spontaneity of 'Long, Long, Long.'

  • Long tall Sally should be there.

  • something,

    come toghether

  • strawberry fields forever

  • and it isnt everyday that a left handed person plays drums for a right handed person

  • You forgot the odd but unique drumming for Old Brown Shoes!! How could you?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH--THIS IS SOME REALLY GREAT STUFF

  • What Goes On is necessary on a list like this.

  • wats that version of ur mother shuld know...nd i love her

    plz reply...?

  • @abhikoolblue anthology

  • She Said She Said

  • A Day in The Life should defently be on this list. This is my my top three: -#3Tomorrow never knows

    #2Rain

    #1The End

I agree with the songs that are on this list, but I don't agree with the order. Tomorrow Never Knows is defently not #9

But anyways great job on the video, I like the way you made it.

  • Ringo said the drumming he thought was best was his drumming on Rain

  • Some interesting choices, though I can't help feeling that a couple of the ones you chose might just have been because you can hear the drumming clearly. Ringo peaked on Abbey Road and most of his best stuff is on there, though he had the advantage of having drums stereo miced, so they sound better anyway. Outside Abbey Road tracks (and the mighty The End), I feel fine, Birthday, Pepper Reprise, Only a Northern Song, In my Life, Drive My Car, You Won't See Me, Hello Goodbye, Helter Skelter.

  • @Tuberstar08 Yer Blues too :D

  • The drumming a A Day in the Life should be in the top ten.

  • I'AM A BEATLES FAN SINCE 1962 !!!!!

FROM THE BOOGIE DOWN BRONX !!!!!!!

  • + helter skelter; what you're doing & get back

  • I kind of feel like Long, Long, Long should be in here. Otherwise, a good video.

  • Another great drumming performance is Back in the USSR

  • @Jack4nd1 Paul played drums in Back in the USSR

  • very good video!! Im sooooo glad someone finally made a video about the best drumming moments!! everyone should appreciate ringo's skills more often!! : D I personally would have added "What You're Doing" "Something" and "Let it Be." But I completely agree that "The End" is of course number one!!! : )

  • WA!!! THIS IS AMAZING!! THANKS FOR THIS!!

  • !!!! awsome!

  • nice!
