Damn i used to loose shoulder and elbow skin doing all those moves, lol man those were the days. Proud to be part of something that started with us and our generation and still here today and going strong in the Bboy competitions
I'd rather watch this Generation of Bboys vs. the New School any day. It was SO FUCKING FRESH, and in my opinion it was more about dancing. I think it was because there was more of a Latin vibe in the up/toprocking.
@musiclover3928 i know this song song beat street strut by juicy but i'm looking for the next song after juicy when rock steady crew start his choregraphy
In the movie beat street we can hear this song before kuriaki do footworks at the party of nyc breakers
Break your body buddy C'mom!!!aha! yeah!,that's it! don't stop, you got it!!! ja,jWhat the heck is "ya ni la chingan" buddy???a,ja,the best times of my life!!!
rocksteady was style and Veratility. NYC breakers was power moves and dynamic moves like nutcrackers faster and more fluid windmills, rsc didn't care bout that there all about footwork and fresh freezes
@pacvsmayweather true i grew up in this ERA but shame to say BREAKERS today would put them to shame !! go type in the FLYING STEPS on youtube but i suppose the future always gets better but one thing for sure this era would never ever be forgot the CULTURE like crews BATTLING B BOYING doesnt exist today to watch breaking you have to go to a theatre normally in the 80's it was cardboard on the streets and i loved it you will never get that ever again like the graffiti trains LOL peace
@ZOBONDO so miss them days, used to have maybe 100 people crowded around you but could concentrate on nothing more but "wasting" the rival crew. like being famous, had strangers stopping me in the street that knew loads about me. cool days......
dizzyrocks i disagree with the exception of mr wave he pretty much did the same moves over and over in his performances.we are going to agree and disgree on this!!!!
Rock Steady was so much versatile than NYC Breakers. If you look at every NYC Breakers video each member does pretty much the exact same moves in every performance. I don't know which is worse though, the blue body suits, or the fuchsia track suits lol!
As much as i love this...why oh why did they get them to wear these gay ass lycra suits....thats not how we threw down in the boogie down bronx back in the day! We woulda laughed them off the streets son!
@xoltrix2005 20 years ago Breakin' was well and truly dead, apart from a few die-hards who kept it alive in places like Germany, France, England and Switzerland.

geil, Danke.. als Kind hab ich das gesehen, ein Freund meines Bruders hat sich ne Kopfverletzung zugezogen und ich hab mir meine Hand verstaucht )))))))
@ZOBONDO you clearly forget the fact that these DANCERS were the innovaters of the whole culture, en remind that this was in the early 80's ! Whitout these DANCERS its fair to say that the b boy culture would not have reached the level that we all know today. And lets be honest.. most b boys of today are nothing more than "just athletics not DANCERS " in skinny jeans and fashionable sneakers...not innovaters of style and passion for the art of breakin . and no youtube "how to do" clips ;-)
@LoBar1609 of course everything has to start somewhere...and u can't call today's bboys "athletics not Dancers" mate - Do u Break? What Breakin have u been watching...just the koreans? lol. Musicality is the most important thing today. ANYWAY THE BOTTOM LINE IS B-BOYS TODAY USE THE MUSIC MORE THEN EVER WHICH MAKES THEM DANCERS - and if you don't use the music yr not doing it right. The only top-rock step back then was the indian step and that's the easiest step lets be honest!!!
@ZOBONDO Yeah you're right. I was a little kid when Breakin' first exploded, and the main difference from then to now is that back then you'd see kids doing it in your local park, whereas now you don't.
@LoBar1609 its funny i watched beat streeet when it first came out in 84 and i was 13.. and the movie today still is great to watch just like saturday night feever lol...
if you have some time on youtube type in a breaking group calle the FLYING STEPS fom germany and let me know what you think??
@ZOBONDO Offcourse i know Flying Steps and a lot of other German crews from that time, you are from the crew ? ;-). My reaction was just a little frustration haha and i got a lot of love for the new generation and i still follow the scene a bit ;-). And yeah..Beat Street still is one of my favorites too !!!
@ZOBONDO breakers are more athletic now but no style, no class!. have u seen the footwork of the breakers today?. they look like they are on acid!! nycb and rsc had style, panache and class and clean footwork. give me these guys over the newbies. also everything evolves - without the originators there would be no breaking today!!
@Jay1898 Actually many of today's young cats have amazing footwork. Go and watch the Footwork battles at competitions like IBE, Mighty 4 and Alien Ness's Octogon battle.
@funkateer17 i have seen a lot of the footwork today and i will stick to my comment about the footwork being all over the place and looks like shit. i think u miss my point....the bboys of old had less complex but clean footwork. the bboys today try waaayyyyy too hard to make it as complex as possible and in this process they and the footwork look like shit. type in bboy float and check out his footwork - so fast and clean and technically top notch and it is from so far back. that is footwork!
@gold95 I have to say that your comment is the best I have seen on youtube for a long, long time....maybe the best ever. You perfectly summarise what I have been saying to uneducated buffoons on youtube. A very stylish and intelligent summary I have to say - very impressive. Well done!
@MJimitater "fist glide"....don't think anybody does that any more dude. But if u wana learn in then do so....just like any move - practice bud. Glide master the one doin the move actually passed away (rip) not sure wat year?
Shit man, all the old school legends are representin' in this video! It didn't seem like Flip Rock's heart was in it that day though. And what's with Powerful Pexter's ultra-hyper spinning uprock at 2:18 lol? And I never understood why Baby Legs (the girl in Rock Steady) was even part of the group. I guess they needed a "Fergie". And I gotta say it, what's with Rock Steady's "Flash-Gordon/old Jewish lady" mauve track suits LMFAO. Those were the days.
much respects to RSC, NYC Breakers & Magnificent Force. This footage is amazing! To see how they promoted the movie Beat Street using the "REAL STARS" of the movies dancing live is awesome!
