The German Wehrmacht and Waffen SS were outnumbered and out supplied fighting The U.S Army in the Ardenne. One major role in Germany's defeat was due to its poor logistics and Mentaly instable leader Adolf Hitler. If you would take the time and look at the statistics, Germans Soldiers performed outstanding due to the conditions and odds.

The Germans had the initial numeric superiority in both numbers and supply which they lost due to it's own stupidity like putting slow , petrol hungry heavy tanks into the lead elements 'spearheads'. Besides 'cockblocking' themselves and slowing the rate of advance. Any advantage in numbers was soon lost due to the inferior quality of the 1944' german soldier.
