@tactical221 No no no, they aren't using the flares because they are changing direction, they are doing some evasive maneuvers combined with flares. For instance, if someone is on your tail, you pop your flares and make a hard turn, that way if he fired a missle, it will (hopefully) go towards the flares and you would be out of the blast radius of the explosion caused by the missle when detonated into the flares. Correct me if I'm wrong, though...

The aggressor sqn based there was or still is the 57th. They used to fly t-38's and f-5's in the 70's. They fly f-16's now...some painted in eastern bloc colors. I was stationed there with the 474thTFW 429TFS servicing F-111A's 73-77. It was common to see other countries aircraft rotate thru the fighter school.

I hope they are better, they are the AIR Force. Also, not sure but I think the Su-27 can still gain speed in a max climb. The Su-27 has a rate of climb of 300 m/s and the F-15 is less than that, about 250 m/s I think. Again, not sure of any of this. I agree though, the F-22 is the best fighter in the world. By the way, the US Navy is far more superior than any other branch of the military when it comes to fighting on the ocean. Hands down. Sorry for being a smart-ass. Couldn't resist :)

Wow, the AIRforce, really? We never would have figured that out without keen insight. BTW, the air force is a specialized branch of the US military in which it particularly handles the logistics for mobilizing a large force. They work with other branches of the military for this reason. Although, it does have fighters, its not the main purpose for its existence. However, the navy does have a larger fighter force.
