This is incredible. Automatically hearted and 5 starred once I play it. How did you do this? I can't think of any methods to creating this great level.
To keep it short and simple: invisible pistons :) It's the only way to achieve the constant falling speed of the blocks. Each block is attached to a piece of dark matter somewhere over the playing area using a piston with max length 300 (somewhere far below the ground of the playing field) and connected to a constantly inactive switch set to directional, which makes it move downward at a constant rate. Those blocks are spawned by several randomizers.
Hehe, I love the green ones too :) Especially because they can help you reach faraway blue boxes. More different box types would or could have been nice, but the thermometre won't allow it :/
Really? They can actually be useful. You can use them for burn-jumping. Being trapped and squashed between two pillars of 2 or more blocks is my most common case of death :)
The Plasma-ball boxes also got me multiple times. Always when you'd least expect it to happen.
Right, they've got a similar concept in the temples level. Since the beta days of the game, I worked on a "tetris dropdown" level, where random tetris blocks would drop down, trying to squash the player. I had a working system which "matched" the blocks so that they always fitted together, leaving no free space. Got some hard bugs though, and after abandoning that project, I finally decided to develop a similar SC - Sacksquash :D
Yeah. It's hard to do it, but slyed15 showed us that it is actually possible to summon both parts of the heart (and even take a photo if it) in singleplayer mode.
