  • Can't see the point of having this up when it is 30 seconds. Any point? I know you put up plenty of other good stuff which is great, but this is just a waste of 30 seconds and a waste of space.

  • CAN WE PLEASE HAVE THE LONG VERSION OF THIS VIDEO.PLEASE SOMEONE PUT IT UP AGAIN.

  • Were they like the Sonic Youth of Australia?

  • @johnlovesbridge what???? okay, you don't know the group... they were popular in Europe and the UK before Sonic Youth began making an impact. Check out more of their stuff.. that's the best answer you can get, concerning your question.

  • @johnlovesbridge

They were definately in the underground category.I don,t know how wellknown they were in Australia, but over here(Holland) they were very much loved in the underground scene.Back in those days Sonic Youth werent that big over here, you could compare them fame wise.Like The Gun Club and even The Birthday party/Nick Cave and the Bad seeds. All of these bands came to fairly small clubs at least once every 1-2- years.

Musically however, they are Aussies all the way! Different.

  • a most magnificent song

  • played this at dads funeral thanks dad for opening a world of music that didnt exist on commercial radio RIP daddy cool ride free PHILLIP JOHN "FLEA" ELLIS 12/9/53-17/5/07 Fuck James Hardy

  • «Trail through the wilderness Dryest season known to us Think about you all the time Think about you all the time Trail through the sinfulness Dryest season known to us Dreamed I saw it all come down Dreamed I saw my pleasure raining down Salty lips to taste skin to touch Nothing matters very much In your arms its a raining pleasure I believe its raining pleasure...»
  • «...Too little cash too much time to kill Buried alive in a shack on the side of a hill Hasn't rained for fifteen years Hasn't rained for fifteen years Been three weeks I can't get through Phone is dead. Baby is that you? Been three weeks I can't get through Phone is dead. Baby is that you? Baby is that you? Salty lips to taste skin to touch Nothing matters very much In your arms its a raining pleasure I believe its raining pleasure»
  • Thanks for the lyrics!

  • Nico would have liked this.

  • I can remember hearing this just a couple of times on the radio late at night. I remembered just a few lyrics, enough to google it once I shuffled them around. Personally I think it's a brilliant track. Obviously influenced by John Cage. The video doesn't quite do it justice, though. Listen to the track by itself with all the lights out, or maybe a candle or something... :D

  • Think about you all the time!

  • I love it.

  • What? Are you mad?

  • Never heard this song or this band till today (thanks for posting!), I like it a lot! I like female lead rock vocals, there aren't enough tracks like that made if you ask me.

  • What a gorgeous track. Brings back many fond memories of listening to 4ZZZ when I should have been doing my homework! A pity they never attained more popularity - David McComb was an infinitely better songwriter than Andrew Farris of INXS, but there you have it.

    Cheers for posting.

  • @peterblack70 , exactly Inxs suck ... and Davis Mc Comb was far , far , far better lyricist than Morissey ....

  • great song, but i enjoy Sally Seltmann singing it way more with Paul Kelly and the Boon Companions. It sounds more pure.

  • So this is how the Greek indie band "Raining Pleasure" got it's name!

  • really, is that so? this is what i thought initially. amazing, huh!

  • She wasn't very forthcoming at the Bristol Bierkeller either. Great song, though.

  • remember tryin to chat her up at glastonbury, think they played twice, gave me cold shoulder,oh well.

  • she looks like the 'cold shoulder' type. As cute as she is, I don't think I would bother approaching her.

  • Along with The Go-Betweens Cattle & Cane this song is one of the greatest Aussie songs and just as evocative of a time and place. Thanks for posting this - it's been years since I've seen it and it's reminded me to drag out those old Triffids albums again.

  • What a gorgeous gem of a song - Jill Birt's plaintive and vulnerable vocals and Dave's extoadinarliy poignant lyrics are breathtakingingly beautiful and lush. An equally amazing video; the glint of sunlight on Jill's face as she looks out from the train window - extoadinary imagery. I lusted after Jill all those years ago when I first saw this video on rage - thank you for posting it, great to see it again. Still one of the best songs ever. I miss the Triffids.

  • Ha ha, no worries. I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I miss them too. I was fortunate to attend both reunion gigs in Hasselt, Belgium in 2006. I had the opportunity to talk to Graham, Martyn, Alsy and Jill all very charming people. I will treasure both nights forever. Amazing though, 2 reunion concerts in Hasselt and 1 in Amsterdam and that's it they will never ever perform as The Triffids again, they were very clear about that. Wonderful band, exceptional individuals.

  • The Triffids reformed for a concert special as part of the Festival of Sydney,Jan 2008. Never count your chicken's too soon...especially where The Triffids are concerned!!

  • That's great news ! Never say never, indeed.

  • And now they're playing a gig at Melbourne in January '09 at The Arts Centre.
