I don't personally care for the style of music used in the song by Iced Earth, however - it does match up very well with the movie version. Creepily enough, the man's voice sounds like Gerry's and the female voice sounds like Emmy's.

Actually the title of the song is Phantom Opera Ghost, the song Phantom of the Opera is another song which was used in the movie and was covered by a few bands, my favorite being the Nightwish cover, but still both are good songs.

Nope, he's moving on. I do feel a little sorry for him: this is the second time he's joined a legendary band and then had to make way for the original vocalists return after just a short time.

Totally, I agree. He's good at doing certain vocals, but he doesn't have that dark, aggressive growl. And the problem with the last album was it was obvious Schaffer was writing music to fit that, so the whole band lost it's dark overtones.

Same here. I like Tim, but Matt is just a legend, with a great range and such power. Tim is very good at doing one particular type, but personally I find it can become a little tiresome after a while.

It is really hard for a band to change their vocalist and then still make good music. I personally feel disappointed when any of the member leaves for any reason. Death of a member is sad but acceptable. Schaffer is just like Steve Harris, he knows how to use a vocalist for Iced Earth's music. Like I said I always miss the former members of the bands which we got used to, hopefully Matt will do his best again.

Alas, not so well on that front due to 2 problems. First, my external hard drive died a little while back, losing all the work I'd done on it & the downloaded copies of the movies involved. Major setback.

Second, I've been snowed under with work lately (having just entered my final year of university), hence why there's been so little activity from me of late. I just haven't had any time.

But thanks for asking, hearing people are interested encourages me to press on when I do find the time :)

Matt Barlow and Yunhui Percifield's vocals go togather perfectly for the song Phantom Opera Ghost. Their operatic/symponic style of singing fits the story better than any other style of singing can, and that song isn't any where near as heavy as other songs of Iced Earths, such as Damien or Violate.
