Debelah Morgan. I think it was high chest/head/falsetto note turned into a whistle in the end. She needed a vocal run to get to the note, unlike Mariah. Mariah could jump from low to whistle without actually having to go through the run.. :D Hope it answers your question

@danmunday1 Actually, MJ previously signed a contract with another network for the 30th anniversary show and part of that contract said he can't make apparences of other networks for a period of days. Obviously, MJ was there but they had to film it this way, without close up shots of Michael because of his contract at the time. The contract is also why they didn't broadcast Man In The Mirror from the same night. Because it was Michael's solo song and you know, the contract and all of that stuff.

Sorely disappointed, especially 0:51 - high notes are Mariah's speciality. To rob her of that necessary means a better quality whistle note needs to be delivered, but the one heard sounded as though the vocalist was being put under the meat skewer. Really, whoever that was, she needs to be a lot more cautious and practical about stealing shows and stepping out of boundaries. An emphatically repugnant, abhorrent note.
