  • Ah, Joan. Love her and hate her and love her again.

  • I just love Joan! She is my favorite! She is so confident and feminine. I like Betty too. It took me a little while to warm up to her but after the episode where she went out into the yard in her nightgown with a cigarette in her mouth shooting the neighbors birds.... I was hooked :)

  • Looks like an old IBM Selectric. Similar to the one I learned on way back when. God, I feel old!

  • what's a typewriter

  • smldfw- Please tell me you are being sarcastic...

  • it's a 20th century device that was the predecessor for the keyboard. It's main function is word processing.

  • "Why is it when a man wants to take you out for lunch....you're the dessert!"

    Nice quote.

  • The term, 'look at you' was used in the 60s. Joan not at her best, but it's still Peggy's hazing which thankfully finnally ends, as least with Joan dishing it out.

  • it is nice to see real curves in Hollywood again :)

  • I don't understand why people find these everyday Lifestyle so Interesting or maybe because it's 60's but still just damn fucking life everyone sees.

  • NO one used the expression "Look at you " in that tone .... and "Swell" is the only authentic expression of this entire clip.

  • You were born in 1980.

  • This is a HORRIBLE depiction of the 60's. Their speech is more modern and so is their mannerism. People talked more properly back then.. just look at any original 60's movies and shows ...

  • Don't be ridiculous, 1960s tv and movies were so fake and unrealistic. They did not reflect how real people spoke or acted at all.

  • I vow to watch this show from now on. Thanks to your curves ms hendrick hot

  • "look at you, all in a snit."

People did NOT talk like that before around 1990.

    Joan = *sigh*

  • And you know this how?? I've never heard anyone under 50 say snit.

  • I just wasted 1:24 mins of my life watching that.

  • Whatever "Dance with the Stars" link brought you to this should be catapulted out by every word, I agree...

  • Joan has a beautiful body!

  • OH YEAH!

  • (high five)

  • IBM Selectric NOT authentic, that is at least an early '70's model. My mom used to own a 1960 model.

  • It's actually the 1961 model - they had to use it b/c there weren't enough 1960 models available for their use. Also, the 1960 ones didn't work.

  • her curves are perfect how I envy her--

  • joanie (i.e. christina hendricks) is the sexiest woman in the biz! awesome post!

  • why do we get suckered into these ridiculous portrayals of humanity

    entertaining haha

  • The writers & the actors 4 this show are incredible, they really know how to pull the world into a scene, incredible.

  • Joan is amazing. Characters don't come like that often on TV these days...

  • the intro song for this show is the only thing sexier than her curves.

  • OMG!! that dress she has on is slammin!! the curves on this woman are delicious!

  • "I don't like your tone."

  • Definition of curvy; a pic on her in the dictionary. Screw Beyonce or J. LO..having a big behind doesn't make you curvy.

    THIS is curvy!

  • Beyonce and J LO ARE curvy! They don't just have big butts, they also have small waists, curvy hips and shapely waists; curvy.

I think all three of them have lovely curvy shapes but I do like the more natural look Hendricks portrays here. Fabulous curves and a great combo of milky skin and red hair.

Peggy looks good not being curvy as well

  • I always love Peggy and Joan scenes. Two of Mad Men favorites! =)

  • Thank god for computers.

  • why cant i see one full Episode of this show on youtube.

  • mmmmh, lemme guess. Because it's illegal? I know some other shows are here full episode, but don't whine if people aren't uploading them all. You could do it yourself and be helpful instead.

And seriously, if you need youtube to watch something, you might want to google some other ways. Don't be dependent on others that much.

  • Haha.

  • More hype than substance ...cerebrally repressed boring characters.

  • Says Isabella, the secretary...

  • It's funny how people who dislike the show talk about hype, when most people who don't have a real interest in intelligent tv don't even know its on Tv or havent heard of it. I think the hype you're refering to is the many people who love the show talking about how much they love the show... You want to know what hype is? 300, there's some hype over substance for you

  • 300 is more of a theatrical american patriot film, with enough sex and violence to make some sales. the historical references weren't even valid.

  • i hated joan when i watched this episode, but she's grown on me

  • that redhead is an absolute bombshell

  • that redhead is an absolute bombshell

  • Look at you, all in a snit!

  • Madmen, yeah Im watching series 1. It has been a bit slow to develop, but now Im getting into the charecters a bit and its quite addictive.

  • Great acting and writing, you generally feel bad for Peggy.

  • Don't feel bad for Peggy...she's going to own half of the Mad Men before the show is done.

  • This show portrays life in some kind of hell dimension. It's scarier than the Ring movies.

  • i know exactly what you mean. no one knows hot to communicate without it having an intensity or negative undertones. surprised no one has picked up an axe and hack someone up like in american psycho.

  • American Psycho has a similar tone to Mad Men I think, only nobody gets a chainsaw dropped on them. Awesome show though.

  • Retro style is way hotter than today's standards.

  • true in most aspects. i think modern style isn't half-bad though. :)

  • Mad Men is an amazing show. Im hooked! I think that Peggy (in season 2) still has a ways to go for a more complex character. Im curious to see what happens to Joan after she gets married.

  • Both of these women can really act.

  • I'm glad we have computers and spell check now :)

  • I'll bet you're not alone. Back then if your education was poor, it was harder to hide it.

  • this thing can go soapy like dallas...........too much family life soap opera crap....

  • "I'm from Bay Ridge. We have manners" LMAO! I love this show.

  • the redhead is HOT HOT HOT!!!!

  • You see ? No need any deep cleavage or string when a girl is hot. tight-fitting clothes are enough for beeing sexy.Nowadays, hot girls with a body like that show a little bit too much at unexpected places and unexpected times...teenage boys who grew up with visions like this just become " natural hunters without manners" :p :-)

  • Agreed, that dress is amazing.

  • When I the first pictures of Mad Men I thought it was a Mob Movie...boy was I wrong!

  • When I first started watching Mad Men, I thought Joan was a total hosebag bitch (friggin' hotter than fuck, but a bitch nonetheless). However, as the season progressed, she became increasingly sympathetic. I still like Peggy better, though:^p

  • Joan was a woman trying to survive in a man's world, she's a great character and reminds today's women how bad it was for their mothers/grandmothers when they were that age.

  • This has to be one of the best tv series in years. Each episode had me at the edge of the chair. Jon Hamm's portrayal of Don Draper is a joy to watch. Can't wait for the next series.

  • This show is absolutely amazing.

The sets and costumes are to die for.... and John Slattery.... hubba hubba!

  • Love this show!

  • the most borring show ever.

  • does peggy love pete?

  • She might have been falling in love with him, but I think she realized just how much an ass he was.

  • Terrific show. I love it. Civility and inteligence are so lacking in modern culture.

Perhaps early 60s was not a pc time but I would definitely like to approach more dignity in our everyday lives.

  • i agree. this is a good show. i haven't seen much. but what i have seen has been pretty good so far. i'm very interested. plus Jon Hamm is gorgeous as Draper.

  • ya I like it too, I like its gritiness and realism behind all the fluff and "upscale" pretensions :P

  • I love this show! Wow, only one comment?

  • What Peggy's taking about is sexual harrassment. Except back then it was just accepted that men were flirting.

  • just like how everyone smokes inside everywhere. some things have changed, some things have not.

  • yeah i was so so shocked about how women were treated back then when i watched the show. My goodness, thank God things have changed, i can imagine violated they must have been. By the way, why didn't the women slap the men for disrespecting them like that.

  • creep

  • It's a TV show stunad, don't believe everything you see or hear.

  • Sexual harrassment wasn't even a word back then. Neither was date rape. I'm glad society knows better now but at the same time these people had far better manners than we do today.

  • I think that is what economist call opportunity cost. There must always be a trade-off. Mannerism vs Ethics.
