I just recently watched an excellent documentary, " The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers", and discovered that the Founding Fathers were all 33rd degree freemasons. It's REALLY STRANGE. up until the late 60s, Washington was considered the FATHER OF THE COUNTRY, and the others were founders but not necessary the father. since we just called him one of the founders, we went downhill moraly; with drugs and wild sex. now we dont celebrate him anymore....hmmmm

He agreed in seperating church from state. He agreed on Freedom of Religion. That doesn't make him a bad guy if he was or he wasn't christian. G.W. Bush is a "Christian" (or so he claimes...does that mean he's a "good guy"?

Most people at this time did not want to deal with any religion in government as England had and has. Don't forget, Christian religion has several forms, different variations. So they simply did not do too much in the way of adding religion into our government. This helps include all people as equal no matter you religous beliefs. I ask you not to do laws out of pure religious belief otherwise your forcing your way of life on others.

I believe this. You have to be very skeptical about those who take advantage of their "educational position" to manipulate history for their own agenda. When in doubt, look at a man's actions with his words. It is more likely he was a Christian of that time; he declined being "King" which displays true character. The Deist attribution is always suspect. It's arrogant to assume one can truly pin down an individual's personal beliefs for convenience of 'interpretation' and uphold it as fact.

You know what, Barton showed how there are a hundreds of volumes written by Washington himself, so I don't think there's much to debate his religious views when we actually read those volumes.

CAREFUL, as Barton said: There are two versions: original version and revised version.

Look for the original by:

And read about his religious maxims.

Barton is correct.

"He was a sincere believer in the Christian faith". - Cheif Justice Marshall

"The General was a Christian" - Judge Boudinot

etc, everything else found in PAGE 297 of this book.

I have eye-witness that Barton is NOT lying. Go check it out yourself.

I'm going to order that other revision book, and going to show people how we have out-right liars in our world that are messing with our minds.

In the book, "George Washington's Sacred Fire", they created a huge list of most of the allusions GW made to the Bible, like "Pick up my matt and walk", which is clearly an exclusive Christian allusion. Check out the book, just as I have.

Washington was religious, he just wasn't an orthodox Trinitarian Christian. Barton is a revisionist.

Washington never spoke in orthodox Trinitarian language, but used generic philosophical titles for God. Never said "Father, Son, Holy Spirit," never used the word "Redeemer" systematically avoided discussing Jesus by name or example as though he didn't care about or had no personal relationship with Jesus, and systematically avoided communion in his Church to which he nominally belonged.

I'm absolutely sure. "The Daily Sacrifice" Prayer book has been debunked as inauthentic. And the only other place you'll find GW and "Reedemer" is a speech -- not his words but Congress' -- that he had reproduced for his troops. The words "Redeemer" or "Father" "Son" and "Holy Spirit" do not come out of his mouth. "Jesus Christ" comes out of his mouth only once in a speech to Delaware Indians, not written in his hand, but signed by him.
