  • A player was pretty good back in the day if they could get past the 3rd level and fight the black guys with the knives. Geez, these graphics look horrible now! They were acceptable at the time.

  • Whoever is playing.. NICE!! I used to do that every time too! Jump off the edge whenever you beat the boss.. or even just 'throw' yourself off (by running!) hilarious! My personal strategy with the big broad was always 'running' back and forth and stopping with a back kick that'd nail her every time. But once she was knocked down I'd run to the far side then run back and nail her with a (running) flying side kick. Those black dudes with the ice-picks (stereotyping?) were biggest hassle!!

  • This game called ' nekketsu kouha Kunio-kun '(a hot blood youg rough boy KUNIO).

    in JAPAN.

    highschool bad boy's story.

  • wow...i don't think i EVER saw anyone play this game who was as good at it as me !!

  • @maptlbh hey hey....you see that fat red bitch on level three? that's your mother!

  • @2010Barbon lol....i see where u git that from after watching this vedio of your mom !! watch?v=FMEe7JqBgvg

  • have this game on my psp emulator!!!!!!!!

  • i love the graffiti on the train! reminds me of 1980s new york city!

  • this isn't the dad of double dragon it was by the same people who made double dragon but this is the dad of river city ransom in japan known as the kunio kun sieries it was there first game of the series i love how they kept the same hair style throughout. they also made super dodge ball and world cup

  • yep, still got this game. I remember playing it in the arcade as a kid along with Rush N' Attack, Dragons lair, those were the days :)

  • The voices, especially that big woman in stage 3, sounded like they recorded someone in the bathroom!

  • This game is still one of my alltime favorites. I still play it on emulators today (arcade, nes& sega)

  • the faces they make when you hit the bad guys always make me laugh

  • Man... I loved this game!

  • That giant lesbian boss on stage 3 always weirded me out a bit.

  • Love how the animations give you the feeling that you are dishing out some real deal pain

  • I kneed smeone in the balls & it made the same sound effect as this game GROOP GROOP

I loved this game when I was a kid

  • in the arcade version he is shown at the end of a game with a blonde woman but not in the nintendo version

  • ¿you beat the game in 5 minutes? wow !!

I spent, a pound of quarters, on that machine and i just made it to the fighting girls stage just to receive a lotto hits from big bertha and then game over.

    Woow again, good memories.

  • the sfx for the hits sound like wet farts

  • With sound effects and music like that, it MUST be Technos.

  • @SoulVotik same style music like mat mania/mania challenge for the arcade/mame.

  • Enemies sound like they're blowing chunks when they die.

  • Same music as Super Dodge Ball!

  • @Lycanthrokeith That's because Renegade was originally a Japanese game called "Hot Blooded Tough Guy Kunio", which Super Dodge Ball is a spin off of.

  • @Lycanthrokeith Well if you look at GLRC's review you'll find that Super D-ball was spawned by this franchise. Loved (and finished) that game too!

  • Wish this was available on PS3....

  • woooowwwwww i just was playing the nes version of this game and wooooow lol the arcade version is so much better lol in nes the controls are horrible graphics obviously worse and at the end of the game when you beat that boss.... it just straight up rolls credits... you dont get no girl or anything like that smh nice vid man i still like both versions though lol

  • weird characters , awesome game

  • Restrain that ass..

  • I am so mad I can't play this on Xbox360 :( No Double Dragon either, boohooboohoo :(.................

  • this game is great

  • Comment removed

  • This is the daddy of Double Dragon, and the granddaddy of the beat-em-up genre. Devil May Cry, God of War, Ninja Gaiden (the new ones), Bayonetta, etc are all the great-grandchildren of this game.

  • @XinKotetsu...

    DMC,GOW,NG and Bayonetta are Rack 'n Slash,dude...

    Beat 'em Up is Cadillacs n' Dinassours,Final Fight,Bad Dudes,Crude Dudes,TMNT IV Turtles in Time,Dynamite Cop,Die Hard Arcade,The Warriors,Zombie Revenge...

  • @igorfranklin83 Same genre, different generation. Do you understand what "great grandchildren" mean?

  • I got my goil back!

  • Ahh, the first video game i ever played. And i still do!

  • forerunner to double dragon :)

  • classic classic classic

  • I remember this game i played it on my ZX Spectrum and i also played: Target Renegade (wich is the second game i belive)

and Renegade 3 the final chapter(The third was the worse in my opinion)

This video of yours remind the old days...Very well played (",) 5*

  • I remember this game. Cocksucker made it look so easy. All games during this time period~ "You kidnapped my girl...Let's fight in the streets. "

  • In amstrad CPC 6128 version he grabs the girls ass at the end

  • Did u really just finish this sh* in 6 minutes?

    Damn!

  • More like Special Boner

  • hahahaha at beating up that big woman !

  • Samuel L Jackson as Shaft 3:40

  • when you get hit in the stomach I hear bubble fart sounds.

  • The game has a eighties feel to it,yet the music seems like tunes from the 50's

  • I have no idea why I liked this game as a child. It just isn't fun at all.

  • @suspekt29 Production values? This game has stuff we still aren't seeing in today's brawlers...

  • JAPANCE Ver. is nekketu kouha kuniokun

  • hahahaha!!!! sweet "mision accomplished"

  • kim is not someone u want to anger.

  • NES version was better

  • The way you let that bull-dyke Ren-slap you had me laughing.

  • Holy crap, I was gonna comment on how crappy this music was, then I realized - it's the same music from "Super Dodgeball" !!!

  • Nicely done. I always found this game too hard.

  • dude was beatin the shit out them chick

  • woow wooooow the big fuck fat and fuck the boss gansta italian type alcapone japanese mama mia

  • woow wooooow the big fuck fat and fuck the boss gansta

  • i hated when technos made the enemies duck when u jump kick them, freakin anoying

  • I remember playing this game on the arcades & NES. I wish that Technos would put all of their beat 'em ups on the X-box 360.

  • I always wondered why Double Dragon was way more successful when all they did was a ripoff version of this.......but as I'm watching, I'm seeing why. DD had more than one place the player can walk to

  • @DDRUTOU: They're actually both quite different. With this, it's more about being in a small "arena" and using it to your advantage. You also have back kicks and throws and the face pounding move is a great risk/reward motif because you have to think about when to do it and when not to. DD, as you say has more of an open area so it's not so much about pulling off moves in enclosed areas while lots of enemies surround you. Both classics, though. :)

  • @DDRUTOU Double Dragon it's not a ripoff, actually DD was planed as a sequel to Kunio-Kun but Technos later changed their mind, that explains why DD and DD2 have almost the same move set of Renegade/Kunio-Kun

  • @DDRUTOU How do you "ripoff" yourself? Double Dragon and Renegade are both Technos games. But Double Dragon was more successful for more reasons than the side-scrolling aspect. It had better graphics, better sound effects and music, better fight mechanics, better animation, better looking stages (the enemy hideout at the end was especially cool), better enemies (e.g. Abobo and Machine Gun Willy), was a lot easier, and [perhaps most importantly] it had two player (simultaneous) mode.

  • so cool you can even see the bullets xD, I used to play this game and I think the earlier version was named neketzu kunio kunsomething like that "orrea"

  • Capcom commited a hard mistake when they changed Poison and Roxy genres. Cody, Guy and Haggar seems too kindly to beat girls?, well! mr. renagade beats hookers!!!

  • This game was so hard. The reason being was because unlike most arcade games where you got continues by plunking down more quarters, this game didn't fuck around and sent you back to the very beginning after 'game over' no matter how many quarters you put in.

  • Thats really cool! I never thought they did an arcade remake! =D

  • The Tittle Favorites TV Shows Like Power Rangers Series, VR Troopers or etc. Based on Japanese Tokusatsu Like the Super Sentai and the Metal Hero Action But the Update Arcade Classic Game the Renegade By Taito America Corp. Just Well

  • man they f@!$ing copied double dragon

  • I have this game for the arcade, as I have the PCB for it, to use in my Jamma cabinet, as well as the N.E.S. version also. I like Renegade, and it's a good way to kill a few minutes, even if it's one game that doesn't have a whole lot to it, and doesn't have a lot of replay value for that matter either.

  • why the HELL wasnt this released on the Genesis? :'(

  • I remember the bosses grabbing you and saying something like, "Beat it, punk!" before laying the hurt on you. :)

  • I love this game....although I didn't have a controller and just used the keyboard.....I have only beat the "woman" once....dumb bitch lol

  • he only died from jumping off that ledge because the game didn't have a way to get back on top

  • It's like South Park gang wars.

  • This was the very first ever side scrolling fighting game. If the fighting style is like Double Dragon, that's because it was designed by the same person. :)

  • I totally stunk @ this game in the arcade. I plunked a crapload of quarters into this thing. I found it difficult for some reason.

    Fascinating game, though.

  • cos it was solid! I found it hard but probs cos i was young!

  • Double Dragon Meets Street fighter.

  • this game was before double dragon i remember

  • cool !

  • they used the double dragon engine for this

  • Double Dragon was the sequel to this game. Renegade is a redrawn version of "Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun." I love this game. I like it better than Double Dragon.

  • Yea, me too.I wasn't a fan of Double Dragon until it came out for the Snes. I remember having this game for the regular Nes and playing it alot. It was such a fun game and better than Double Dragon for the Nes. I wish they could make games like this still. I feel that most of the games today are redundant and all the same. I mean, how many pov shooters do we really need? They all play the same and basically use the same recycled engine. I'm tired of that. We need more variety like it used to be.

  • I also used to do the jump kick when it ends the stage.

  • @friscoway415 that sound just like something i would do at the end of something. I would be thinking yeaa i am call like that! This bring back memories.

  • 32 bit!

  • くにおくんのゲームにそっくりだなぁ。

  • this should be re-made, -4 PS3- , not 4 x-box it already has every game going

  • Oh yeah, and isn't it great that back in the day, a dude could beat up chicks and no one complained?

  • The arcade version was waaaay better than the NES version.

  • cool game

  • Lol! Listen at the motorcycles backfiring.

  • Hey the main player seems ripped off from the warriors.

  • Million (the company that owns Technos' games now) needs to create a Technos Classics disc for the consoles. Data East is doing it!

  • @dubq actually, it's now Aksys Games which has the rights to most Technos games including Renegade/Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun

  • this game was made by the same people who made double dragon. Double Dragon takes the ideas of this game and expands on it. I wish this game were remade.

  • Moron this game was out in 1986 DD was released in 1987. A full year before DD even hit arcades. Get your S#$t straight idiot!

  • @jland3622 thats right double dragon did come out in 87 can't believe double dragon cloned this game

  • @lionheartodd Of course the games are gonna be similar, they were designed by the same man.

  • @jland3622

oh man I didnt know there was an arcade version ! Gotta play this tonight for sure. Also how come DD is more widley known than this game if it came out first ?

  • @djfrijoles It's kinda like the Street Fighter series. Street Fighter might have been first but we all know Street Fighter 2 was the better game by far. Renegade was kinda fun but hard as hell. DD was just better and much more well done. Gameplay was better too. Hope that helps. =]

  • @jland3622 Why the bad feelings..Just leave him too it!

  • @CoreyD1086 lol these people MADE double dragon, and this one came out BEFORE it

  • 3:14-3:19 "GIVIN' UP ALREADY? (smack, smack, smackety, smack) My favorite part.

  • Kunio dealing with bitches cases too,...this game is too hardcore.

  • I didn't realize there was an arcade version of Renegade for over 20 years until now. I see it's a short game just like the NES version.

  • CPC conversion is far better!

  • This game always cracked me up when I was a kid. Throughout high school every time I would get into a fight and kick someone's ass I would always tell the guy: "GET LOST PUNK!" as a tribute to this game. No one ever got the reference though.

  • great clasic good memorys

  • This game is weak as hell. Sound effects stink. Double Dragon was much better.

  • @flukes777 @0:19 - the Stun Staredown.... A Classic Double Dragon moment at its finest. Without this there is no Double Dragon.

BTW "Superstars" of wrestling by Technos's engine is base of this more than DD.

  • Listen to those sound effects. The punches sound like the guy is beating on a 10lb bag of Carolina Rice or something.

  • And umm this game came out when? 1986? Of course cleaner samples took more memory to produce.

  • 3:00...you gotta fight Rosie O'Donnel? XD

  • @TheCastellan lol, in the NES port, she looks more like Roseanne Barr

  • I used to love this game

it had so many little perks other games didn't have at the time.I still have it on MaMe hehe

  • hey like there saying all black men carry a knife

  • This game is amazing!

  • I like the Japanese version better, because Taito changed Technos Japan's mascot to some American-style vigilante.

  • so many great brawlers back then!

  • amazing!!

  • I love this game. When I learned the japanese released it (and the arcade version of Super Dodge Ball) for the PS2, my dream came true. Perfect arcade ports!

  • Technos had the coolest sprites around back then! The little faces on their characters were great.

  • I loved the expressions the faces would have, like when ya smack one of them in the chops, cute XD.

  • 0:21

    lol at that staring contest.

    reminds me of double dragon.

  • You can't relax even for a moment around those knife guys

  • Running punches are really effective against them.

    It's one of the Warriors!

  • That's some awesome greaser music on Scene 1.

  • Otro de mis juegos favoritos de los 80's

  • Level 3 with the cycle guys:

"What are the scorpions doin' here? This aint their turf". They want to rumble, and Mr. K is ready for them!!

Or we can quote from Pee Wee's Big Adventure:

"Hey Man- your new to this turf. We don't take kindly to strangers that come around here".

And like Pee-Wee, Mr. K could hiss at them to scare them off!

  • It's the cycle lord's from Grease 2 on the level where you fight on the peir!!!!

It's like Johny Nogarelli fighting the Scorpions on motorcycles!!

And fighting the pink ladies in the level after!!

And at the end Michael or Mr K wins Stephanie Zinonie!!

  • I dont know what I saw in this game. It was so hard and repetitive.

  • omg... that made the nes version look like crap

  • Some of the sound effects in this game sound like farts! Great video, though!

  • is it me? or does this version look way easier than the NES version..but thats what NES did with most of the arcade translations anyway ie "Double Dragon 1 &2"

  • No, it's not just you, VIRGOLEGACY . The highest difficulty in the NES version of Renegade, seems very unforgiving when comparing it to this Arcade version.

The Double Dragon NES games are also pretty challenging, due to the added platform jumping.

  • yea too bad i wasnt old enough to play the arcade version of renegade i was only a rea old when it came out ..but forget those games i mentioned double dragon 3 on the NES is like the hardest shyt ever i cud never past the first stage lol

  • Yeah, same here :). I never did play any arcade games until 1992, so I missed out on many of the classics.

Double Dragon 3 is definitely a kick in the face at first! I could never even clear the first mission as a kid lol.

Think two for the price of one and things will go more in your favor (stand between enemies coming from both sides and time a cyclone kick that will take them out at the same time), but the last level is still pretty frustrating!

  • the sega master version is pretty sweet!!!

  • this game reminds me of the warriors

  • Wow this looks completely different compared to the low budget NES version! The enemies are a lot more varied here, coming in all colors, shapes and sizes and there is even a real ending!

Thank you for sharing this, Frenzy100!

  • They could have ported it to SNES and made this game just as good, I still love the NES version

  • Yeah, that would have been awesome, Rudy!

While I do like the NES version, having to enter the right doors ruins some of the fun, especially on the hardest difficulty level.

  • it took me a while to find the right doors to enter lol

  • I hear ya! :)

  • the doors also change depending on the difficulty as well so i was never able to beat the game on the higher difficulties lol

  • Yeah, I had to write the directions down on paper, VIRGOLEGACY, just to make sure that I wouldn't screw up :).

There are just way too many doors to keep track of when playing on difficulty level 3!

  • are u serious? lol that actually sounds like a good idea i shud try that lol

  • Yep, I'm serious alright! :)

Video games shouldn't have to be mapped out, but it can sometimes be quite useful to do so. Game FAQs are easier to type up this way too.

  • I remember this game in the arcades and there was always a line for it lol. I used to be awesome at it and now I suck!

  • 3:25

  • renegade, i hated this game cause it was the hardest videogame for nes ever , i think

  • ne notice that being a technos game its got many similarities to double dragon and river city ransom? this essentially was the predecessor.

  • Pretty sure that third level wouldn't fly in today's environment

  • Love that sound when the goons die. BLARGH!

  • this game was fun

  • Looks like The Warriors. Hmm.

  • the motorcycle sound is too loud in the emulation...

  • Wait a second, that's the whole game?

  • Yes, and it's frigging difficulty. The guy playing here is pretty good at the game.

  • Plus that's just how arcade games were at the time. They were either literally never ending, or you could beat them in 10 minutes.

  • and they were great being just like that :D

  • The Japanese version is...very different!!

  • Oh my goodness. So much better looking than the NES version.

  • Dammmmmmmmmmmnnnn! This guy knows how to handle business.

  • Do the first and third level bosses look like Greg Brady and Roseanne Barr/Arnold or am I crazy?
