Actually, every terrorest we have water-boarded (all three) spilled volumes of very good information, prevented large scale attacks, and saved lives. The argument that coerced interrogation doesn't work has been debunked time and time again.

It's a crime against humanity to torture anyone captured on the battlef ield.
After the end of World War 2 the Americans and Russian interrogated captured Nazi officials, the Russians used torture and got next to nothing while the Americans simply talked to them until they gave up information.
In the end the Russian got nothing and the Americans got the beginnings of what would eventually be the space program.

Actually, every terrorest we have water-boarded (all three) spilled volumes of very good information, prevented large scale attacks, and saved lives. The argument that coerced interrogation doesn't work has been debunked time and time again.

1) The murderer is an American and has constitutionally guaranteed civil rights that foreign combatants do not have.
2) Locating a body isn't saving lives.
3) Coerced interrogation isn't torture or abuse. It is the price you pay for attacking America and withholding information.
As to the "good information", stopped several major attacks. It wasn't used to get a confession. We don't need a confession.

2009 was by far the worst year for Al Qaeda. The group suffered serious losses, inluding top leaders in East Africa, Asia and other places. The groups is experiencing funding and recruiting difficulties. They have been easily infiltrated, law enforcements from out the world now know what to look for, and the group sorted to using incompetent attackers that are either easily detected, fail and/or are captured. They're still a force, though. Just not what they used to be few years ago.

The basic question here is whether or not sabotage by al-Quaida and the like is a law enforcement or national security problem. As the FBI and Dept of Homeland security have both demonstrated unacceptable levels of incompetence, one thinks it is an easy question to answer. The FBI should be divorced from it's counter-intelligence function and the Dept of HS should be done away with. The CIA should take over the processing of intelligence again, and FEMA should return to the civil defense model.

How the hell can the Republicans claim that the Republican party represent the majority of the American public? The Democrats have an overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives, which is the legislative assembly that is based on Census numbers, unlike the Senate, and most accurately reflects the make-up of the country.
