Bravo! I think this is Jaco's best for both composition and bass playing. Love watching you play, you're obviously a pro, no wasted movement and you make it look easy when I know from trying to play this that it is very hard. I wish we could see your hands better. No , your eyes works great ! It`s a fretted bass but I don`t remember me try to make it sound or growl like a fretless in any point.

So... I hate to rain on the parade here... But... This literally sounds exactly the same as the original recorded track. And unless I'm very much mistaken, there are frets on your bass. You cannot make a fretted bass sound like a fretless, especially not Jaco's. So, I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but I'm not really sure that this is real.

Jaco wasn't using his fretless jb all the time.

If you listen to Birdland, you can hear that some parts are played on a fretted bass and others on a fretless.

In Havona, it can be possibly the same thing (I don't think so).

And Jaco have the fretless sound which sounds very very close to the classic fretted jazz bass bridge pickup sound. If he were using the neck pickup, the difference would be alot bigger.

Here, slapstyler has done a great job on the touch and the sound of Jaco.

Well, this video is like a breath of fresh air..don't let anyone chastise you for copping someone else's stuff, all the greats have done it. You need not explain your reasons for doing it. It's a beautiful rendition and that's that.

btw after seeing you peform on this piece I have convinced myself to invest in a VF5 of my own. I tried one out in a local shop and the necks are wonderful to play on! Anyone looking for a real player's bass should seriously check them out.
